본 연구에서는 방제복의 액체침투저항성을 측정하는 방법 중 피펫법을 적용하여 국내 시판중인 5종의 방제복과 일반 shirt에 대해서 체류성, 발수성 그리고 침투성을 측정하였다. ISO 22608 Guideline 'Liquid penetration resistance-Pipette test'에서 요구하는 장치를 사용하였고 시험농약으로는 pendimethalin을 처리하여 GC/MS로 분석하였다. 5종의 방제복은 침투성이 0.0~5.4%로 매우 낮은 침투성을 보였으며 발수성은 67.0~98.1%로 농약이 쉽게 투과되지 않고 물 또는 액체에 의해서 제거될 수 있을 것으로 보였지만, 일반 shirt는 높은 침투성과 낮은 발수성이 확인되어 농약살포 시 손쉽게 피부에 노출될 수 있을 것으로 확인되었다. 현재 국내에서는 방제복에 대한 침투저항성 측정법과 기준이 마련되어 있지 않기 때문에, 본 연구는 방제복의 성능측정의 기준시험법 마련에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

We intend to analyze reasons for low acceptability of protective clothing in pesticide-spraying farmers in Korea, and to use the information for designing new clothing with better acceptability. To understand the attitude of farmers toward wearing protective clothing during spray, a survey was performed on 256 farmers. It is evident that the stress, which is caused by inadequate body temperature regulation, and its accompanying physiological responses are two of the leading factors for the low acceptability of protective clothing. Although the cost of clothing is not an important factor currently, low cost clothing is desirable in the future. Fancy of design is unimportant for new clothing. The results are discussed in conjunction with a desirable research focus for new types of protective clothing. Efforts should be made to ameliorate thermal stress through protective material development and garment design.

장기간의 홍삼복방제 투여가 혈중지질 및 체지방에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 체지방율이 30% 이상인 여학생 28명을 대상으로 위약군(placebo group, n=7명), 홍삼복방제투여군(red-ginseng product administration group, n=7명), 운동군(exercise group, n:1평), 운동 및 홍삼복방제투여군(exercise and red-ginseng product administration group, n=7명) 등 네 집단으로 분류하여 12주간의 실험기간에 따른 TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, 체중 및 체지방의 변화를 관찰하여 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. TC, TG, LDL-C의 경우 실험 12주후 위약군을 제외한 모든 집단에서 유의한[홍삼복방제투여군(p<.001), 운동군(p<.01), 운동 및 홍삼복방제투여군(p<.001)] 감소를 보였다. HDL-C의 경우 실험 12주후 위약군을 제외한 모든 집단에서 유의하게[홍삼복방제투여군(p<.05), 운동군(p<.01), 운동 및 홍삼복방제투여군(p<.001)] 증가하였다. 체중, 체지방율, 체지방량의 경우 실험 12주후 위약군을 제외한 모든 집단에서 유의한[홍삼복방제투여군(p<.001), 운동군(p<.001), 운동 및 홍삼복방제투여군(p<.001)] 감소를 보였다. 제지방량의 경우 실험 12주후 위약군을 제외한 모든 집단에서 유의하게[홍삼복방제투여군(p<.05), 운동군(p<.001), 운동 및 흥삼복방제투여군(p<.001)] 증가하였다.

This survey was performed to gain basic information for the development of new protective clothing of high acceptability in pesticide splaying among small size farmers. The rate of protective clothing wearing was low during pesticide spray although they understand its necessity. The reason for this low acceptability was related to the heat stress and reduced work efficiency deriving from wearing protective clothing. Instead of wearing they tend to carry out spray work while the ambient temperature is not to high. In the similar context, they rather intend to spray in consideration of weather condition instead of wearing protective clothing in the future. However, they are willing to purchase protective clothing if desirable products are developed: the clothing need to be efficient in both protection and work performance; the fanciness in design is not a requisite. This survey result will provide information necessary for the direction of new protective clothing development.

This survey was carried out on 256 smallholder farmers of the Jeonbuk Province to analyze their current behavior in pesticide usage and the use of protective clothing during spray work. The interviewees were at the age of about 50's in both males and females: they performed spray work mainly for their own farms. Many of them were not very well aware of the danger of pesticides and the adequate methods of pesticide handling. Water drinking and smoking during break time were the endangering factors of pesticide intoxication, reaching to 30-60% sprayers. Most of sprayers had experienced the exposures to pesticides during spray work and appealed some subjective clinical symptoms to the exposure, but they seldom sought medical treatments. More than 70% of respondents had not been wearing protective equipments during spray work. The results will be used as basic information in designing the improved protective clothing more acceptable by pesticide sprayers.

대부분의 농약은 인간에게 해를 미치는 화학물질로 구성되어 있어서 반복 노출된 살포자는 다양한 종류의 상해를 받게 된다. 많은 연구결과들에 의하면 농약살포자가 농약에 노출되는 이유로 방제복의 미착용이 가장 중요한 것으로 보고되고 있다. 세계적으로 적지 않은 농민이 경미하든 심각하든 간에 농약중독으로 추정되는 자각증상을 경험한 바가 있다고 답하고 있다. (중략)

농약공업협회(회장 염병만)가 지난 10월 12일부터 15일까지 서울 양재동 aT센터에서 열린「2005서울 국제원예전시회」에 참여, 전시회 및 농약안전성 세미나를 개최했다. 2개 부스를 확보, 주요 원예용 농약 및 방제복, 농약안전성에 대한 각종 판넬 10여종을 전시하고, 방문객을 대상으로 수천부를 상회하는 다양한 홍보자료를 배포한 이번 전시회는 소비자 이해 제고를 위해 상당한 효과를 거둔 것으로 분석된다.
