Effect of Fixation Methods on the Flame Retardant and Performance Properties of MDPPA/HMM treated Cotton (MDPPA/HMM처리 면직물의 고착방법에 따른 방염성과 물성의 변화)

  • Effect of fixation methods on the flame retardant(FR) and performance properties of MDPPA/HMM treated cotton fabrics were studied. Combination of three different fixation methods - premercerization, swelling agent treatment, pad dry cure fixation, and wet fixation - were applied to flame retardant finish of cotton with MDPPA/HMM. As a result, an increase in internal volume of cotton fiber by pre-mercerization and addition of swelling agent, and wet fixation increased %add-on of FR agent improving FR efficiency and wash fastness. Tensile strength of MDPPA/HMM treated cotton fabrics by wet fixation and swelling agent were slightly decreased, but that of premercerized cotton was improved. Wet fixated fabric showed lower bending rigidity and better compressional properties which improved fabric hand. Retention of swelling ability of cotton treated with MDPPA/HMM improved moisture absorption properties.

  • 본 연구에서는 방염제가 적용되는 방염대상물에 대한 검정기술기준과 목조문화재에 적용되는 방염제의 검정기준의 차이에 대해 비교하여 보았으며 이를 통해 단청 등이 도색되어 있는 대부분의 목조문화재에 적용되는 방염제의 성능과 방염 처리되어진 일반 목재의 방염성능평가방법에 대하여 생각해 보았다. 목조문화재용 방염제 검정기준 내의 방염성 평가는 소방방재청 고시 제 2009-31호의 "방염제의 형식승인 및 검정기술기준"과 비교하였을 때 목재를 비교대상으로 할 경우 방염성능 기준 및 측정방법과 동일하거나 거의 유사하였으며 방염제의 물성 등에 대한 기본적인 평가방법 또한 동일한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 시험시편에 대한 규정에 있어서 목조문화재용 시험편의 경우 일정 두께이하로 규정하고 있어 시험하는 시편의 두께에 따라 방염성능 평가기준에 도달하지 못하는 경우가 발생할 수 있을 것으로 판단되어진다.

  • 기존의 고분자 자체를 그냥 쓰거나 (발포체 형태로 만들면 음파가 내부의 공기 층을 통과할 때 주위의 벽과 마찰이나 점성 저항에 의해 음파의 에너지의 일부가 고분자 매트릭스의 열에너지로 변화하여 고분자에 흡수된다) 유리섬유나 석면(광물면), 식물 섬유류를 넣어 복합재료로 만들어 기능성과 물리적인 성질(강도, 치수 안정성, 방염성, 내후성, 단열성 등)을 높여왔다. 하지만 고분자의 이온기에 변화에 따른 음향 특성의 변화에 따른 연구는 없었다. 본 논문에서는 고분자의 흡음 성질을 향상시키기 위해 이온기를 가지고 있는 고분자나 산 혹은 염기 작용기를 가진 고분자를 합성하고 또한 이들 고분자들을 블렌딩하여 이들의 음향학적 성질을 알아 보려한다. 흡음율을 측정하기 위한 방법으로는 2-마이크로폰법을 이용하고 임피던스 관내의 얇고 지름이 작은 시편 샘플들의 음향인자를 측정이 가능하도록 기존에 사용되고 있는 콘덴서 마이크로폰이 아닌 프로브 마이크로폰을 이용하였다. $\;^{(1)}$ 특별히 실험을 위해 제작된 아이오노머는 PS, P$(S-14.3-AZn^{2+})$, P$(S-14.5-SSNH_4)$, P(S-6.6-ITANa), P(S-8.95-ITANa) 등의 고분자를 블렌딩한 샘플을 이용하여 흡음 패턴을 측정하였다.

The Printability and Flame Retardancy for DTP Media of Polyester Fabrics Treated with Phosphate Compound (인 화합물 처리한 폴리에스테르 DTP 매체의 날염성과 방염성)

  • Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fabrics were treated with a silica particle and phosphate flame retardant to determine the optimum process condition of the digital textile printing(DTP) media. The treating conditions for the study were 6 conditions, from F1 to F6, in which F3, F4 and F5 were treated with mixture of both silica particle and phosphate compound in process of pad, dry and cure fixation. F6 was treated with phosphate compound only and silica particle coating successively. Xanthan gum was used to control the migration of liquid phosphate compound onto PET fabrics. The change in surface morphology of fabrics treated with silica particle and phosphate compound was observed by SEM and flame retardance was evaluated by limiting oxygen index(LOI). It was observed that F6 was the excellent flame retardance and low bleeding in printing, Collectively, the printing characteristics of silica to cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink and flame retardance of fabrics finished with phosphate compound were identified in this study.

The Synthesis of Diphenyl ethanolamidophosphate (DPEAP) and the Flame Retardancy of Cotton Fabric (Diphenyl ethanolamidophosphate의 합성과 면섬유에 대한 방염성)

  • Diphenyl ethanolamidophosphate(DPEAD) was synthesized for the purpose of developing a new flame retardant for cotton fabric. As the intermediate material was used diphenyl chlorophosphate(DPCP) and it was synthesized by using phosphorus oxychloride and phenol as the starting materials. The final product DPEAP was obtained by the reaction of DPCP and ethanolamine. The flame retardancy of cotton fabrics treated by DPEAP through pad-dry-cure(PDC) process was examined at various conditions. The physical property change of the DPEAP treated cotton fabrics were investigated by examining the drape stiffness, the wrinkle recovery, and the tensile strength. The results are summarized as follows: (1) DPEAP has shown excellent flame retardancy on cotton fabrics in comparison to other flame retardants for cotton fabrics available commercially. (2) The optimal condition for PDC process found was that the curing temperature was 16$0^{\circ}C$, the DPEAP concentration was 10%, the catalyst $({NH_{4})_{2}HPO_{4}$ concentration was 7.0%, and the fixing agent hexamethylol melamine (HMM)/DPEAP weight ratio was 1/8. (3) The wrinkle recovery of the processed fabrics increased with increasing DPEAP concentration. (4) The drape stiffness of the cotton fabrics treated by DPEAP have shown essentially no change until increasing DPEAP concentration to 15 %, however DPEAP concentration exceeds 20% the drape stiffness increased drastically with increasing DPEAP concentration. When DPEAP concentration is kept constant the drape stiffness increased with increasing $({NH_{4})_{2}HPO_{4}$ concentration and HMM/DPEAP weight ratio. (5) The tensile strength of the processed fabrics was lower than that of untreated fabrics, but the tensile strength retention increased with increasing DPEAP concentration.

Characteristics of Flame Retardent and Mothproof Conservation of Microwave Heated wood (마이크로파 가열 목재의 방염·방충 복합 보존처리 특성)

  • It was found that test piece heated rapidly by 3 kW microwave for 5 minutes satisfies the targeted temperature and the percentage of moisture content, and the highest rate of weight increase is obtained in case of 120 minute immersion in the mixture of phosphates and heterocyclic compounds, from the result of such analysis as: kiln drying schedule, flame retardent by flammability test, insect resistance by termites, and permeability of combined penetrant for the wood after assigning multifunctional finish by immersing conifer structural frame, which is used for the frame work of wooden house and indoor/outdoor finishing in flame retardant and insect repellent materials mixture with the remaining heat of microwave. In addition, after a test of flame retardent treated item, it was identified that every mixture of phosphates corresponds with the standards of flame retardent, and upon investigation of moritality of 7 days after putting termites, it was showed that test piece immersed in the mixture of phosphates and heterocyclic compounds has the best characteristics, showing over 96% of high moritality. From the analysis of inward permeability of combined penetrant for the wood, it was decided that excellent performance in the flame retardent and insect resistance of the wood revealed due to full penetration of combined penetrant as it was found that combined penetrant penetrated through the whole inner cells of the wood.

A Study on Functionality of the Ulreungdo Seokganju as Korean Traditional Red Pigment (한국 전통 적색광물안료 울릉도석간주의 기능성 연구)

  • The main compositions of "Seokganju", a Korean traditional red mineral pigment, are iron oxides. To investigate its mineralogical and functional properties, we had got its ore from Juto cave in Ulreoung island, which was a famous field of it in Korean documents. The ore occurs as a paleosol between the olivine basalt and amphibole trachyte in discontinuously. It is reddish brown and yellowish brown and consists mainly of clay minerals with minor debris. Its reddish and yellowish brown color are due to the hematite and ferrihydrate, respectively. These iron oxides are precipitated as ferrihydrate from the ferrous water in the paleosol and partly changed to hematite. The color reproduced in timber by using seokganju pigment with traditional tools and methods is similar to that in heritage building. The moistureproofing and fire resistance of Ulreungdo seokganju is far better than that of artificial seokganju. Moreover, the combustion tests show that the artificial seokganju promote the ignition and combustion of the timber. Ulreungdo seokganju is regarded as a pigment with fungicidal efficacy because growth of two wood decay fungi (cov. and typ.) are inhibited in solid medium with it.

Applicability as a Dancheong Pigment Raw Materials of Korean Low Grade Kaolin (국내산 저품위 고령토자원의 단청안료 원료로써의 활용 가능성)

  • X-ray diffraction analysis, chromaticity measurement, execution and evaluation by Dancheong artisan, accelerated weathering test, and fire resistance test were conducted to test the applicability as a Dancheong pigment raw materials of Korean low grade kaolin in cultural properties. The ores that feldspar rich and composed of fine particles (< $38.1{\mu}m$) showing advantageous for the inherent purpose of the white pigment than that of high grade kaolin. And the test of whiteness, concealment force, outdoor exposure durability and fire resistance shows similar or better result than existing products (Hobun and Sanhwa jidang). In conclusion, it is expected that the use of fine feldspar rich white soil and low-grade kaolin can be used as a white pigment raw materials which have similar to better material properties and economic efficiency than existing products.
