  • At present, waterproof is absolutely needed to minimize the carbonation of bridge decks in Kor ea. In this research indoor experiments for penetrative waterproof admixture out of available methods are carried out to evaluate the resisting characteristics against natural arid artificial car bona ting conditions. The test results show that the optimal time of waterproof is 14 days after the concrete construc. tion but reconsideration is necessary for the application to high strength concrete because of the reduction in penetration of waterproof admixture. The results also show that the penetrat ive waterproof admixture has srrong resistance to the acid rain. However the waterproof capability of the admixture is not permanent especially under the natural exposure. Therefore the slab of a bridge should be paved with asphalt concrete. Other noticeable effects are the increase of heat and abrasion resistances from the use of the waterproof agents.

  • Penetration depth of inorganic waterproofing agent is difficult to assess quantitatively because inorganic waterproofing agent for concrete is not an internal waterproof membrane. However, evaluation of penetration depth of inorganic waterproofing agent is one of the most important evaluation index to secure efficiency in a consistent penetration. Therefore, this paper was proposed penetration depth measurement method of inorganic waterproofing agent for concrete and the penetration depth of the conventional inorganic waterproofing agent have been evaluated through the proposed penetration depth measurement method. As a result of test, the measured penetration depth throught the proposed penetration depth measurement method of inorganic waterproofing agent showed that more than 90% reliability.

  • This paper is results of centrifuge model experiment of investigating geotechnical engineering behavior of waterproof dike, located in soft grounds, in Saemankem in progress of construction. Centrifuge test with artificially increased gravitational level of 50g were performed to find ground settlements and excess pore-pressures developed during construction of waterproof dike by simulating the construction stages being predicted to occur in field so that the stability of waterproof dike could be assessed.

  • In this study, the development of a self-healing concrete waterproofing agent was examined, focusing on its manufacturing and waterproofing properties. The optimal ratio using microcapsules for the concrete waterproofing agent was determined through assessments of flow, compressive strength, and permeability conducted during the mortar stage. These findings aimed to provide fundamental data for evaluating the self-healing properties of the concrete waterproofing agent designed for use in concrete structures. The self-healing concrete waterproofing agent was comprised of three types of inorganic materials commonly used for repair purposes. From experimental results, a composition ratio with a high potassium silicate content, referred to as SIM-2, was found suitable. A surfactant mixing ratio of 0.03 % was identified to enhance the dispersibility of the concrete waterproofing agent, while a mixing ratio of 0.2 % distilled water was deemed suitable for viscosity adjustment. For the magnetic self-healing concrete waterproofing agent's healing agent, using microcapsules in the range of 0.5 % to 0.7 % met the KS F 4949 and KS F 4926 standards.

  • This paper presents the characteristics behavior of dike structure and foundation ground through the shaking table model test. The vibration loadings of design earthquake acceleration of 0.154g was applied to this laboratory model test regarding on dike structure and foundation ground under the structure. The model was formulated with 1/100 design of representative cross section for evaluating the effectiveness of vibration. Based on the test results, we can analysis the behavior of lateral displacement and settlement characteristics of structure under the earthquake loading. The pore water pressure was also monitored in the upper, middle and lower layers of ground. Finally, the actual displacements and pore water pressure of the structure can be predicted by using the results of the laboratory shaking table test.

  • This study was performed to obtain data which can be applied to use of water-proof mortars. The data was based on the properties of water-proof mortars depending upon various mixing ratios to compare those of cement mortar. The water-proof agents used were retard and accelerate type which are being used as mortar structures. The water-proof agents, mixing ratios of cement to fine aggregate were 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4. The results obtained were summarised as follows; 1. The results of flow test, water-cement ratio was increased with the increasing of mixing ratio. 2. The permeability were increased in poorer mixing ratio and higher water pressure. 3. The bulk density was decreased with the increasing of mixing ratio, and compressive and tensile strength were increased with increasing of the bulk density. 4. At 1:1 mixing ratio, the highest strengths were showed and strengths were decreased with the increasing of mixing ratio. 5. The absorption rates were increased in- poorer mixing ratio 6. The correlation between W/C, permeability, bulk density, compressive strength and absorption rate were highly significant as a straight line, respectively.
