Postnatal Development of Echolocation Vocalizations in the Serotine Bat, Eptesicus serotinus (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) (문둥이박쥐(Eptesicus serotinus)의 생후 반향정위 발성 발달에 관한 연구)

  • Developmental changes in the vocal signals of serotine bats (Eptesicus serotinus) during their infancy were examined in this study. The analysis was conducted on 4 infant serotine bats from 1 to 40 days after their birth. Pulse duration (PD), pulse interval (PI), peak frequency (PF), maximum frequency ($F_{MAX}$), minimum frequency ($F_{MIN}$), and bandwidth (BW) were measured. As the bats grew, their vocalizations became increasingly consistent and similar to those of adults. For infant bats, PD and PI decreased as they grew older, whereas PF, $F_{MAX}$, $F_{MIN}$, and BW increased. The greatest change in vocalizations was observed between the $10^{th}$ and $20^{th}$ days after birth. Also, PF, $F_{MAX}$, $F_{MIN}$ and BW, which describe sound frequency, increased dramatically during the period between the $10^{th}$ and the $20^{th}$ days. In contrast, the greatest change in PD occurred between the $30^{th}$ and $40^{th}$ days after birth. The results collected in this study suggest that frequency increased as the contraction ability of the muscles developed by around 20 days of age. Muscle relaxation ability, which is related to PD, was found to develop significantly at 30 to 40 days of age. According to the results of this study, although 40 day-old infant bats are not yet able to fly, their vocal signals were similar to those of adults. This indicates that vocal development and flying activity develop separately in young bats.

  • 최근 유아기 아이들을 위한 교육매체의 발달로 각종 CD-ROM이나 테이프 등에서 성우의 목소리로 동화를 읽어주는 시스템이 많이 나와 있고, 또한 Web Book이 점차적으로 보편화가 되 가고 있다. 하지만 이런 획일적이고 균일화된 매체들은 아이들에게 금새 실증을 내게 하기 때문에 흥미 유발을 위해 동화의 주인공을 자기자신이나 친근한 사람의 이름 등으로 바꾸어 발성해 준다면 더욱 친근감 있게 받아들일 것이다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 성우가 발성하는 동화의 주인공 이름을 Test화자가 새로운 이름으로 발성을 해주면 기존 성우의 목소리패턴으로 바꾸어 동화를 읽어주는 시스템에 대해서 제안하고자 한다. 우선 Test화자가 발성한 목소리를 성우의 목소리로 바꾸어 주기 위해서 기존의 성우가 발성한 동화주인공 이름과 Test화자가 발성한 이름과의 운율패턴을 비교하여 성우의 운율패턴에 일치시키고 성우의 목소리 패턴으로 변경된 새로운 주인공의 이름만을 기존의 동화 DB에 삽입하였다. 또한 에너지 패턴조절은 기존의 성우가 발성한 기준패턴에 근사화 시켰고 끝점을 스므딩 시킴으로써 자연스런 발성이 되게 만들어주었다. 결과적으로 Mos Score가 3.873로 비교적 좋은 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 최근 컴퓨터와 인간간의 대화 수단으로 음성을 활용하는 기술인 음성정보기술이 발달함에 따라 대어휘 연속 음성 인식 및 무제한 어휘 음성 합성의 고도화를 위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 음성 인식의 경우 HMM으로 대표되는 통계적 수법의 발달에 따라 시스템의 학습을 위해 대량의 음성데이터가 필요하며, 음성 합성의 경우에도 최근 대형의 음성 데이터 베이스로부터 임의 길이의 음성 부분을 골라내어 접속함으로써 좋은 합성 품질을 얻고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 음성 인식 및 합성을 위해 공동으로 사용하기 위한 음성 데이터베이스의 발성 목록을 설계하고 설계된 결과에 대하여 논의한다.

Development of Vocal Signals in the Pipistrellus abramus(Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) (집박쥐의 발성 시그널 발달에 관한 연구)

  • This study reports developmental changes in the vocal signals produced by infant or young Pipistrellus abramus. In contrast to adult bats, infant bats of the P. abramus emitted calls characterized by multi harmonics and variable signal patterns. Infants at two day of age emitted a irregular signal and showed gentle FM signals between 10 and 20 days. After about 40 days of age, the young bats emitted similar signals to the echolocation calls of adults. As the infant bats growing up, vocal signals trend showen a decrease in pulse duration(p<0.001), pulse interval(p<0.001) and number of harmonic(p<0.001). And the peak frequency(p<0.001), starting frequency(p<0.001) and ending frequency(p<0.001) in infant bats increased with the age. The largest change in pulse interval occurred in 5 days. And the pulse duration, peak frequency, starting frequency and ending frequency of the bat's sounds changed most dramatically in 25 days of age.

  • Swyer syndrome is a rare form of primary amenorrhea resulting from gonadal dysgenesis. It is characterized by the presence of a female phenotype with a 46, XY karyotype. In our case, CT scans revealed the absence of the uterus and bilateral ovaries of the 16-year-old female patient. Calcific nodules were found in both inguinal areas, which were suspected to be calcified atrophic testes. A chromosomal study confirmed the diagnosis of Swyer syndrome. Herein, we report a rare case of Swyer syndrome.

  • Background: With the advances of video technology, thoracoscopic surgery has been applied to various areas of the thoracic surgical fields including major surgeries. Now a days,-thoracoscopic surgery is Performed as a procedure of choice for primary spontaneous pneumothorax. But the operative indication for the primary spontaneous pneumothorax has not been changed since the last few decades, although the procedure of choice was changed from open thoracotomy to thoracoscopy. Therefore, we thought new treatment strategy will be necessary for the management of primary spontaneous pneumothorax. Material and Method: Between January 1998 and December 1999, 149 primary spontaneous pneumothorax patients were admitted to the Kyungpook National University Hospital. Result: Of these patients, 177 were first attack pneumothoraces and the number of total attacks were 250. Conclusion: Analyzing the amount of pneumothorax, methods of treatment, number of recurrences, recurrence rate and hospital stay, we propose a critical pathway for establishing new treatment strategy for the management of primary spontaneous pneumothorax.

Risk Factors of Unprovoked Seizures after Acute Symptomatic Seizures in Children (급성 증후성 경련 환아에서 비유발성 경련의 위험인자들에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose : Acute symptomatic seizure is defined as a temporary seizure together with acute systemic, metabolic, or toxic insult in association with an acute central nervous system insult. And unprovoked seizure is defined as seizure without provocating factors. We studied the risk factors of unprovoked seizures after acute symptomatic seizure in children. Methods : We retrospectively reviewed the records of one hundred and ten children with acute symptomatic seizures who were admitted to the pediatric department of Chungbuk National University Hospital between January, 1998 and December, 2003. We analyzed overall risk factors of unprovoked seizures after acute symptomatic seizures involving etiology, incidence, type of seizure, duration and neuroimaging. Results : We analyzed records of 110 children with acute symptomatic seizures aged from 1 month to 17 years. 24 children had unprovoked seizures (21.8%) after acute symptomatic seizures. Causes in order of frequency were encephalopathy, central nervous system infection, brain tumor, cerebrovascular disease. The risk of unprovoked seizure was significantly greater for those with status epilepticus (68.4%) than without status epilepticus, with partial seizure (64.7%) than generalized seizure. And the risk of unprovoked seizure was strongly associated with abnormal finding of electroencephalogram (79.1%) and neuroimaging (41.6%). Conclusion : In conclusion, the leading cause of subsequent unprovoked seizure in children with acute symptomatic seizure was encephalopathy and age specific incidence was high in the group aged 24-72 months. The risk for subsequent unprovoked seizure was greater for those with partial seizure, status epilepticus, abnormal finding of neuroimaging and electroencephalography.

Jitter and Shimmer of the Deaf Voice (농자 음성의 주파수 변동율 및 진폭 변동율)

  • The present study analyed jitter and shimmer of the deaf in 4 different voicing conditions. Thirty-two male subjects and 27 female subjects participated in the study on a voluntary basis. The age ranged from 6 to 18 for male and 8 to 21 for female subjects. The subjects were either congenitally or prelingually deaf The four different voicing conditions included /a/ prolongation, counting, reading, and conversation. The experiment utilized CSL Visi-Pitch Model 6095(Kay Elemetrics Corp.) to sample and analyze the data. Both jitter and shimmer means were higher than the threshold values(normative data) reported. In addition, this investigation performed two separate 2-factor ANOVAs in order to determine if jitter and shimmer change as a function of gender and voicing condition. The results showed the following. First of all there was the gender effect on shimmer but not on jitter, in that male subjects 'shimmer was higher than females'. secondly, there was the voicing condition effect both on jitter and shimmer. /a/ prolongation and reading produced lower jitter than counting and conversation. /a/ prolongation produced lower shimmer than the remaining conditions. Finally, no interaction between gender and voicing condition existed.

상후두운동과 경부외후두근의 근전도검사에 관한 연구

  • 음성이란 성대내근과 성대외근의 운동에 의해 진성대에서 규칙적이고 조화로운 진동이 이루어져 나타나는 것으로, 이러한 운동 등에 이상이 생기거나 진성대에 기질적인 변화가 왔을 때 음성이 변하게 된다. 그러나 이런 환자들의 진단을 위하여 후두소견을 관찰해 보면 진성대 뿐만 아니라, 상후두에서도 여러 가지 양상의 다른 움직임을 확인할 수가 있는데, 상후두는 진성대와는 달리 특별한 자체를 움직일 만한 근육들이 발달되어 있지 않은 구조물임에도 불구하고 여러 다른 발성에 따라 다양한 움직임을 나타내게 된다. 이러한 것들은 진성대와 연결되어 있는 성대내근이나 후두의 외부에 붙어있는 성대외근의 영향에 의해 나타날 수가 있다고 생각이 되고, 이러한 것들은 일차적으로 또는 이차적으로 성대의 진동에 영향을 줄 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. 이에 저자들은 발성시 상후두의 움직임과 성대외근과의 관계를 확인하기 위하여 상후두의 움직임을 여러 가지 모양으로 만들도록 훈련한 후 스트로보스 3102;을 이용하여 상후두의 움직임을 확인하면서, 각각의 경우에 따라 근육의 수축정도를 비교할 수 있고 비침습적인 표면전극을 이용한 근전도 검사를 시행하여 이들에 관한 연구를 하였다.다.

A Case of Primary Intestinal Lymphangiectasia (원발성 장 림프관 확장증 1례)

  • Primary intestinal lymphangiectasia is a congenital lymphatic disorder in which intestinal lymphatic channels are dilated and ruptured resulting in loss of protein, lipid, and lymphocyte into the intestine or peritoneum. As a result, hypoalbuminemia, generalized edema, diarrhea are clinically manifested. We report a case of primary intestinal lymphangiectasia with generalized edema which occurred in a 7-year old boy who was treated with lipid restriction diet with medium chain triglyceride oil supplement.
