The mechanical ground support equipment of KSLV-II launch complex is a collection of systems for transporting, erecting, lowering the launch vehicle and for providing an interface to supply propellants to the launch vehicle. In this paper, compositions, functions and design results of mechanical ground support equipment are introduced. In addition, the operation concept of each equipment along with operation procedure is presented.

In this paper, the liquid oxygen filling system (LOXFS) of the launch complex system of Korea Space Launch Vehicle-II (KSLV-II) is introduced based on critical design result by KARI in 2015 to 2016. The function and specification of the main systems of the liquid oxygen filling system, such as the storage tank, the drainage tank, the supply pumping system, the curved heat exchanger with liquid nitrogen, end valve block system, and umbilical connection, are presented.

The dynamic behaviors of a launcher under impulsive forces are analyzed. All the components of the system, ie ; chassis, turret, cage and suspension parts, are modeled as rigid. The dynamic analysis code, which is developed with the formulae describing the system equations of motion in terms of relative quantities, is used to carry out the analysis. The results show the dynamic responses of chassis and cage when the driving constraints are imposed on turret and cage.

To launch rocket on launch pad, propellants and gases are charged into the rocket by remote control system. Using pneumatic pressure-reducing regulators, kinds of gases with various pressure levels are supplied into launch pad. As most of operations for launching the vehicle are remotely controled in the launch control room, pressure pulsations due to rapidly gas supply at the upstream of regulators can make the required operating pressure range missed and cause damage to the regulators. In this paper, the optimum design methods of pressure regulators of pressure-reducing system on launch pad using high-pressure gases were investigated to solve the aforementioned problems and for stable gas supply to launch pad.

The KSLV-II launch complex system consists of mechanical ground support equipment(MGSE), fuel ground support equipment(FGSE), electrical ground support equipment(EGSE) and infrastructures. Compressed gas supply system, as a part of FGSE, is responsible for launch operations such as gas intake, storage, supply to launch vehicle and ground support equipments. This system consists of three primary elements such as gas storage part, control panel and controller. Automatic panels, as a part of control panel, are manufactured to operate remotely by controller. This study presents compressed gas supply system which is designed for KSLV-II and ground support equipment characteristics.

The Intense acoustic wave generated by the jet flame at the lift-off causes the vehicle to vibrate in the form of acoustic loads. The DSM-II(Distributing Source Method-II), which is a representative empirical acoustic loads prediction method, is a method of distributing a noise source along a jet flame axis and has advantages in calculation cost and accuracy. However, due to the limitation of the distributing method, there is a limit to accurately reflect the various launch pad configurations. In this study, acoustic loads prediction method which can freely distribute noise sources is studied. by introducing NURBS(Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline) modeling into empirical prediction method. For the verification of the newly introduced analytical technique of the NURBS, the acoustic loads prediction for the Epsilon rocket's low-noise launch pad shape was performed and the results of the analysis were compared with the existing prediction methods and experimental results.

In this paper, KSLV-I flight test data and critical design results of filling operation for liquid oxygen filling system are compared to validate the reliability of the critical design modeling. Applying the filling and operation conditions on the critical design modeling, comparison of major flow rates and pressure values between test data and calculation results are conducted.

The flame deflector should be constructed to minimize the induced environmental effects on the launch vehicle and to minimize the exhaust impingement effects on the launch complex structures during the lift-off operation. Therefore, it should be designed to avoid recirculation and reverse flow of rocket exhaust plumes. The circumstance around launch complex and characteristics of launch vehicle should be taken into consideration for the flame deflector design. In this paper, we designed the flame deflector reflecting KSLV-II 1st engine characteristics and analyzed the effect of exhaust plumes related to change geometry by means of computational flow analysis.

A gas deflector cooling system plays an important role in the suppression of shock wave generated during the ignition of a launch vehicle engine. Also, this system decrease a large vibration of damaging the payload and structure of the launch vehicle. The gas deflector cooling system in the launch pad of NARO space center was constructed to directly inject water into the plume of the launch vehicle engine. The flight test result of NARO space launch vehicle showed that this method had a good performance on the viewpoint of cooling the gas deflector.
