Three deconvolution methods were applied to stacked seismic data obtained to investigate gas-hydrates in the Ulleung Basin, East Sea: (1) minimum-phase spiking deconvolution, (2) minimum-phase spiking deconvolution using an averaged wavelet from all traces, and (3) deterministic deconvolution using a wavelet with phases computed from well-logs. We analyzed the resolving property of these methods for lithological boundaries. The first deconvolution method increases temporal resolution but decreases lateral continuity. The second method shows, in an overall sense, similar results to the spiking deconvolution using a minimum phase wavelet for each trace; however, it results in a more consistent and continuous bottom-simulating reflector (BSR) and better resolved sub-BSR reflectors. The results from the third method reveal more detailed internal structures of debris-flow deposits and increased continuity of reflectors; in addition, the seafloor reflection and the BSR appear to have changed to a zero-phase waveform. These properties help more precisely estimate the distribution and reserves of gas hydrates in the exploration area by improving analysis of facies and amplitude of the BSR.

Vegetation indices based on selected wavelength reflectance measurements are used to represent crop growth and physiological conditions. However, the anisotropic properties of the crop canopy surface can govern spectral reflectance and vegetation indices. In this study, we applied an ensemble of bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) models to high-resolution Sentinel-2 satellite imagery and compared the differences between correction results before and after reflectance. In the red and near-infrared (NIR) band reflectance images, BRDF-corrected outlier values appeared in certain urban and paddy fields of farmland areas and forest shadow areas. These effects were equally observed when calculating the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and 2-band enhanced vegetation index (EVI2). Furthermore, the outlier values in corrected NIR band were shown in pixels shadowed by mountain terrain. These results are expected to contribute to the development and improvement of BRDF models in high-resolution satellite images.

A shaped Cassegrain antenna is designed from the condition of the same path length at the equi-phase surface by using the conservation of energy and Snell's law. In order to improve the phase error efficiency of aperture surface, the surface profile of the main and sub-reflectors is found to satisfy the power distribution and the equi-phase condition at the aperture surface. The sidelobe levels of 36.4 dB and 33.9 dB are achieved at the AZ and EL planes, respectively from numerical calculation by physical optics method at Ku band and the directivity of designed antenna is 10 percent greater than that of conventional antenna.

Antenna PIM(Passive Intermodulation) level measurement results are rarely credited due to the external signal receiving characteristics of antenna, and seriously affected by the external PIM sources such as anechoic chamber absorber and antenna tower. In this paper, antenna PIM model for the Reflect PIM measurement method is presented. Through the null point phenomena of the PIM level obtained by antenna PIM model simulations and experimental results, we concluded that antenna PIM level measurements are greatly affected by the PIM level generated on the anechoic chamber absorber and the path differences of PIM signal reflected to the antenna.

This paper was conducted as an attempt in order to construct the data bank of target strength for acoustic estimation of fish length in the coastal waters of Korea. The fish length dependence of acoustic target strength for 13 large yellow croakers (Pseudosciaena crocea) at 75 kHz was investigated and the prediction of the target strength by using the Kirchhoff-Ray Mode model (KRM model) was compared with target strength measurements. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. In the averaged target strength pattern for 13 large yellow croakers the maximum target strength was -35.13 dB at $-13.35^{\circ}$ on a tilted angle. 2. The relationship between fork length(L, cm) and averaged target strength(TS, dB) was expressed as follows; TS=23. 76log (L) -73.45 (r=0.47) TS=20log(L) -67.35 From this result, the conversion coefficient was -73.45 dB and 6.1 dB lower than the coefficient -67.35 dB where the value of the slope of the regression equation is forced to be 20. 3. Averaged target strength and a length conversion coefficient derived from a target strength histogram for 13 large yellow croakers of mean length 25.59 cm were -41.23 dB, -69.72 dB, respectively. 4. In the range of $$2;{\ll} L (fish length /{\lambda}(wave length);{\ll}40$$, the prediction of the averaged target strength by the KRM model increased gradually with the increasing of $L/{\lambda}$ and was lower than the measured target strength.
The Bragg reflection of monochromatic waves propagating over a rectangular-typed impermeable submerged breakwaters is numerically investigated by using the finite element method. The reflection coefficients calculated from the present model are compared with those of laboratory measurements and the eigenfunction expansion method. A good agreement is observed. The finite element model is also applied to calculate reflection coefficients according to variations of length and width of submerged breakwater.

Analytic solutions are derived for wave scattering by a semi-infinite breakwater or a breakwater gap with partially reflective front and fully reflective back. The water depth is constant and a regular wave train is normally incident to the breakwater. Wave scattering is studied based on the linear potential wave theory. The governing equation is transformed into ordinary differential equation by using the method of variation of parameters and coordinate transformation. Comparison with finite element numerical solution shows that the analytic solution obtained in this paper gives quite good results. Using the analytic solution, the tranquility of harbor entrance is investigated by changing the reflection coefficient at the breakwater.

With high temporal resolution, four times receiving during a day, MODIS images from Terra and Aqua satellites provide several advantages for monitoring spacious land. Especially, diverse MODIS products related to land, atmosphere, and ocean have been provided with radiance MODIS images. The products such as surface reflectance, NDVI, cloud mask, aerosol etc. are based on theoretical algorithms developed in academic areas. Comparing with other change detection studies mainly using the vegetation index, this study investigated temporal surface reflectance of landcovers for five years from 2004 to 2008. The near infrared (NIR) reflectance in urbanized and burned areas showed considerable difference before and after events. The specific characteristics of surface reflectance temporal profiles are possibly useful for the detection of landcover changes and classification.
