  • Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) has been operating SLR (Satellite Laser Ranging) system with 2kHz repetition rate for satellite precise orbit and spin determination as well as space geodesy. But the SLR system was improved to be capable of laser ranging with high repetition rate, up to 10kHz by developing new operation software and novel range gate generator, called HSLR-10. The HSLR-10 will contribute to the accurate spin rate determination of geodetic satellites and geodetic research due to its largest repetition rate in the world. In this study, the development methodology and configuration of operation software are addressed, and its validation results are also presented.

  • 토끼에서는 수정란 이식과 같은 기본적인 번식공학적 방법의 효율성이 아직 생쥐와 같은 실험동물에 비해 떨어지고 있어 생물공학적인 기술을 응용하는데 큰 어려움이 있다. 특히 유전자 이식에 의한 형질전환 토끼의 생산과 같은 생물공학적인 기술을 실용화하는데 효율이 높은 수정란이식 기술의 개발이 필수적이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 토끼에서 수정란 이식 기술의 첫 단계인 과배란 유도를 효율적으로 이용할 수 있는 방법을 정립하기 위해 반복적인 과배란 유도가 배란율 및 수정란의 질적인 면과 양적인 면에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 연구방법으로는 FSH와 HCG를 사용하여 과배란을 유도하였고 2.5 개월의 반복처리간격으로 3번의 반복적인 과배란 처리를 한 후 반복처리에 따른 배란율과 배란된 난자의 형태학적 상태, 배양에 의한 발생 능력 상태 등을 감소하였으며 배란수의 변이도 커지는 경향을 나타내었다(첫번째, 32.6(+-)2.5; 두번째 28.7(+-)3.7; 세번째 20.99(+-)3.8). 제 2극체의 돌출, 전핵의 형성, cummulus cell의 존재등에 의한 회수된 난자의 형태학적 관찰에 의한 방법으로 난자를 분류한 결과 과배란의 반복수가 증가함에 따라 다양한 모양의 난자가 회수되어 배란이 광범위한 시간대에 일어나고 있음을 나타내었다. 또한 과배란의 반복적인 유도에 의해 난소의 혈포수는 증가하였으나 채란된 난자의 채외배양에 의한 발육율에는 차이가 없었다. 그러므로 과배란의 반복적인 유도는 공란토의 난소반응에는 영향을 미쳤으나 난자의 질에는 영향을 미치지 않았음을 나타낸다.

  • Passively Q-switched, laser diode(LD) end-pumped Nd:YAG laser was demonstrated by using $Cr^{4+}$:YAG as a saturable absorber. In addition , we could calculate an excitation efficiency, which is an important parameter to evaluate the pumping geometry, directly by measuring the absorbed power in Nd:YAG at threshold condition. We found that output parameters such as average power, pulse duration, and repetition rate strongly depended on the low intensity transmission of $Cr^{4+}$:YAG and driving current of lase diode. The maximum Q-switched output power of 1 W was obtained with 40 kHz repetition rate. The pulse duration was varied from 50 ns to 200 ns.

  • Study, it is the purpose to develope a cheap and compact pulsed $CO_2$ laser with pulse repetition rate range of 1 KHz. We used a IGBT switched power supply as a power supply, which is cheap and simple comparing to others. PIC one-chip microprocessor was used for precise control of a laser power supply on the control part. And the laser cavity was fabricated as an axial and water cooled type. The laser performance characteristics as various parameters, such as pulse repetition rate, gas pressure, and gas mixture rate have been investigated. The experiment was done under the condition of total pressure of $CO_2$$N_2$:He = 1:3:10, 1:1.5:5, 1:9:15 from 6 Torr to 15 Torr and pulse repetition rate from 100 Hz to 900 Hz. As a result, the maximum average outpu was about 20.5 W at the total pressure of 15 Torr, the gas mixture $CO_2$$N_2$:He = 1:9:15 and the pulse repetition rate of 700 Hz.

  • Wavelength and repetition-rate tunable optical pulse-trains for ultrafast optical time- and wavelength division multiplexing are generated from a semiconductor fiber ring laser by optical injection mode-locking. The pulse trains show the pulse with of ${\sim}10$ ps and the wavelength tuning of wider than 30 nm at various repetition-rates of 10 GHz, 20 GHz, 30 GHz and 40 GHz, respectively.

  • In general, there is discontinuity phenomenon like a black screen and an irregular sound for repeated play of a finite digital stream. In this paper, for repeated play we analyze the relation between source and stream time causes this phenomenon. We obtain the time relation between video frame rate, audio frame rate, and TS packet transmission rate to eliminate this phenomenon. Using this time relation, we propose a new generation method of elementary stream (ES) and transport stream (TS) to eliminate discontinuity phenomenon. The test results of the generate ES and TS using the proposed method show that the discontinuity phenomenon can be eliminated for repeated play of a finite proposed stream.

  • Rugate filters of inhomogeneous refractive index were designed using the Fourier transform and the effect of reflectance, stop bandwidth, optical thickness, and Q function on the rugate filter was investigated. An iterative correction process using a merit function was employed to fit an initial design to the target spectrum. Three Q functions derived by Sossi, Bovard, and Fabricius, respectively, were compared in terms of the number of iteration, merit function, and optimum optical thickness. The result shows that after a number of iterations the Q functions by Bovard and Fabricius produce high rejection rugate filters closer to the target spectrum than the Sossi's Q function and the optimal optical thickness is determined by the stop-band width of the rugate filter. ilter.

  • A rate-distortion based segmentation using recursive merging is presented, which considers texture as a homogeneity by adopting the procedure of a generalized texture approximation. The texture in a region is approximated by SA-DCT and a set of two uniform quantizers with fixed step sizes, one for DC and another for AC. Using the approximated texture, we calculated the rate-distortion based cost. The segmentation using recursive merging is performed by using the rate-distortion based cost. Experimental results for 256$\times$256 Lena show that the region-based coding using the proposed segmentation yields the PSNR improvements of 0.8~ 1.0 dB and 1.2~1.5 dB over that using the rate-distortion based segmentation with DC approximation only and JPEG, respectively.

  • This paper is studied the high-repetition rate optical-pulse stream generation using optical loop mirror coupler. With the recent development of the ultrahigh-speed optical time division multiplexed system, hish-repetition rate optical-pulse stream generation is necessary. This is different from conventional approaches, which use fiber or integrated waveguide delay line circuits. The high-repetition-rate optical-pulse multiplication phenomenon occurs when the optical pulse's spectral width is greater than the transfer bandwidth of the coupler used. From the analysis, the output repetition rate can be controlled by using fiber couplers with different equivalent transfer bandwidths. The pulse separation spacing is controlled by number of cascaded coupler in optical loop mirror coupler scheme.
