A Study of a Method for Detecting Marine Pollution Using X-band Radar (X-Band 레이더를 이용한 해양오염 관측기법에 관한 연구)

  • Oil spills and red tide can be very damaging to the environment and fishery farming. These catastrophic accidents must be detected as quickly as possible. In this paper, we report the results of applying the wavelet transform to SAR or marine radar images for the detection of the boundaries of an oil spill or red tide. The application of the wavelet transform to these phenomena looks quite promising in detecting the boundaries of oil spills and red tide areas.

X-band CW Doppler Radar Development for Measurement of Muzzle Velocity (포구 속도 측정을 위한 X-band CW 도플러 레이더 개발)

  • In this paper, we described the implementation of the X-Band continuous-wave doppler radar for muzzle velocity measurement. The radar is consisted of microwave transceiver, signal processor, power board, and the measuring program was developed for the operating and field test. The operating frequency of doppler radar is able to set ${\pm}3\;MHz$ with 5 channel from the center frequency, and the output power is 25 dBm. The minimum receiving power is -117 dBm. The radar would obtain the doppler frequency from the artillery, and calculate accurate velocity point and then estimate muzzle velocity. The performance test for this radar was done with 155 mm at barrel and tripod mounted, and also compared the performance with the reference radar. As a result, the performance of the our new radar is equal with the reference one.

  • 현재 우리나라의 연안해상교통관제는 연안해역의 관제, 수색 및 구조지원, 선박통항관제 수단을 제공하고 하기 위해 AIS(Automatic Identification System)와 레이더 시스템을 활용하고 있다. 하지만 AIS의 경우 고가의 장비로 소형선박에 설치가 용이하지 않은 실정이며 레이더를 활용한 소형선박 관제 시 Target Swapping 현상과 거리와 크기에 의한 탐지성능 변화 등의 문제점으로 소형선박의 위치를 제대로 파악하지 못하여 사고발생의 큰 비중을 차지하고 있어 방지대책이 필요한 실정이다. 이러한 문제를 해결할 수 있는 방안으로서 본 연구에서는 IP-RFID 기술을 활용한 연안해상교통관제시스템의 적용방안을 제시하고자 한다.

A Study on the Uncertainty of MVRS (포구속도측정레이더의 불확도에 관한 연구)

  • MVRS's measuring principles are based on the Doppler principle. It measures the velocities near the muzzle using the doppler signal output from the antenna and then predicts the velocity of the bullet leaving the muzzle by performing the regression analysis on previous measured velocities. There are a number of error sources when calculating the muzzle velocity. Antenna has long term frequency stability error and the doppler signal from the antenna has noise. These two error sources influence the accuracy of estimated velocities from the doppler signal. Estimated velocity errors result in the random error of data statistics. And when performing a regression analysis these random error components are transferred to the fitting error component. This study also analyzed the error components according to the hardware limitations of MVRS-700 and the signal processing method, and presented the calculated uncertainty of muzzle velocity.

  • This traveling wave tube amplifier maintenance system was developed for performance of microwave Surveillance radar traveling wave tube amplification parts, and field operation. The Maintenance system is traveling wave tube amplification part RF output waveform measurement and HVPS Voltage adjustment and a maintenance function are offer. The system was developed as an embedded system base it consisted of Linux os which applied a top-down design and visual technique. Therefore change and easy extension of a system. This paper discussed characteristic of maintenance equipment function, composition, and an employment program.

Motion Sensing Algorithm for SAR Image Using Pre-Parametric Error Modeling (매개변수 사전 오차 모델링 기법을 이용한 SAR 요동측정 알고리즘)

  • In order to obtain high-quality images by motion compensation in the airborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR), accurate motion sensing in image acquisition section is necessary. Especially, reducing relative position error and discontinuity in motion sensing is important. To overcome the problem, we propose a pre-parametric error modeling (P-PEM) algorithm which is a real-time motion sensing algorithm for the airborne SAR in this paper. P-PEM is an extended version of parametric error modeling (PEM) method which is a motion sensing algorithm to mitigate the errors in the previous work. PEM estimates polynomial coefficients of INS error which can be assumed as a polynomial in the short term. Otherwise, P-PEM estimates polynomial coefficients in advance and uses at image acquisition section. Simulation results show that the P-PEM reduces relative position error and discontinuity effectively in real-time.

Fabrication of High-Frequency Packages for K-Band CMOS FMCW Radar Chips Using RF Via Structures (RF 비아 구조를 이용한 K-대역 CMOS FMCW 레이더 칩용 고주파 패키지의 제작)

  • In this paper, we design, fabricate and measure two kinds of high-frequency packages for K-band CMOS FMCW radar chips using RF via structures. The packages are fabricated with the conventional PCB process and LTCC process. The design centering of the packages is performed at 24 GHz and impedance variation caused by the wire bonding and RF via structure is fully evaluated using 3D electromagnetic simulation. The RF via structure with characteristic impedance of $50{\Omega}$ is used to reduce impedance mismatch loss. Two kinds of test packages with back-to-back connected RF paths are fabricated and measured for the design verification of the PCB-based package and LTCC package. Their measured results show an insertion loss of less than 0.4 dB at 24 GHz and less than 0.5 dB for 20~29 GHz. The measured return loss is less than -13 dB for the PCB-based package and less than -15 dB for the LTCC package in the frequency band, but the return loss of the package itself is predicted to be better than that of the test package by about 5 dB, because the ripples of the back-to-back connection typically degrade the return loss by 5 dB or more.
