  • This study aims to review the characteristics of specialized classrooms for governmental secondary schools in the Japanese Colonial Era by analyzing architectural drawings collected by National Archives of Korea. The results of this study are summarized as follows 1) Under the influence of Japanese science promotion of that time, specialized classrooms for science were considered as one of essential facilities. Typically exclusive specialized classrooms were assigned to two major science subjects : physics-chemistry and biology. 2) To science specialized classrooms, ancillary rooms for preparation, experiment equipment and specimen were attached and science lecture room with stepped floor was planned additionally only for the lecture on theories and the demonstration of experiment. 3) Specialized classrooms for science were zoned independently of other facilities because of the special equipments and safety. 4) Art rooms were common to both boys' and girls' schools but concerning music rooms, girls' schools had special concerns, whereas boys' schools did not. 5) Specialized classrooms for homemaking subject of girls' school were as much important as those for science subjects of boys' school. 6) Some early-established Korean boys' schools had handicraft rooms which were the symbol of vocational education-oriented, unequal policy on Koreans. Though not general cases, specialized classrooms for geography-history were planned for Japanese boys' school. Restricted to governmental secondary schools but considering the uncommon state of specialized classrooms of that time, these characteristics show conditions of early time when special classrooms were introduced into Korea.

  • We isolated and identified microorganisms from the aerial environment of domestic museums. The fungi, Penicillium spp., Alternaria spp., and Cladosporium spp. were isolated in many museums. It seems that these fungi are related to biological degradation of textile remains. A total of 14 kinds of bacterial strains were isolated: Acinetobacter spp., Pseudomonas spp., Neisseria spp., Alcaligenes spp., Shigella spp., Klebsiella spp., Corynebacterium spp., Aerococcus spp., Bacillus spp., Micrococcus spp., Citrobacter spp., Erwinia spp., Salmonella spp., and Providencia spp. Acinetobacter spp., Pseudomonas spp., Neisseria spp., and Alcaligenes spp. were the predominate bacteria found in samples with a variety of bacteria. This suggests that there is a relationship between bacteria and the damage of textile remains. In the museum, we isolated Alternaria spp, Geotrichum spp., Penicillium spp. Acinetobacter spp., Pseudomonas spp., Alcaligenes spp. from the entrance, exhibit hall and storage, but they were found in smaller number and species in the exhibit cases and paulownia cases. We concluded that paulownia cases were not influenced by the microorganisms because of quality of care provided by the museum staff. Corynebacterium spp., and Bacillus spp. were not detected at the entrance and exhibit hall but were detected in paulownia cases. It is presumed that those bacteria did not flow in from outside, but resulted from contaminants in paulownia cases. In the distribution of microorganisms associated with textile remains, more fungi were detected than bacteria. Acinetobacter spp., Pseudomonas spp., and Neisseria spp., were isolated from silk items. Penicillium spp. and Cladosporium spp. were isolated in the silk and hump items. Aspergillus spp. and Penicillium spp. were isolated from the cotton items. On the other hands, there were no fungi strains in the wool items. Most of the isolated strains from textile remains were aerial microorganisms from the museum environment. These results suggest that textile remains were apt to contaminated by contact with the air.

  • The act was designed to identify the introductory cases of the use of quick response (QR) codes in records management by public institutions and propose measures to enhance users' satisfaction with their work. This study looked at the definition of the QR codes and the user services that can be provided by the records depository and reviewed the introduction cases using the codes. The reason QR codes are used by records depositors is that public institutions currently have a single-person system that specializes in records management. With the number of employees and the number of records becoming more extensive, explaining the contents of all tasks accurately as well as other professional contents to employees who lack understanding of the records management life cycle is becoming more difficult. The introductory cases were divided into information on how to register nonelectronic records, information on location and history of important records and administrative museum, and education on standard records management. The research was conducted by dividing the research team's "Records Management Guide" (QR code status) into experimental groups and control groups for officials of the Busan Metropolitan Government. There were significant differences in the level of satisfaction with records management guidance depending on whether or not QR codes were used. When the first and second surveys were compared in December 2017 and March 2018, the results of the first survey averaged 2.94, but the second survey showed high results at 3.75 and was statistically significant. This can be said to be more satisfactory by introducing QR codes than guidance provided by existing type. Although this research examines introductory cases of records management by public institutions using QR codes and user satisfaction, future tasks are to be applied to Records Management System and document production systems so that completion can be improved.

  • Records management refers to a series of activities to achieve the goal of securing transparency in administration and safely preserving and utilizing records. Each process of record management is largely divided into production, preservation and management stage. The reporting system of record production has an important fuction that serves as a bridge between production stage and preservation and management stage. It was established after the enactment of the Act on Records Management of Public Agencies in 1999, to grasp the state of production and management of records of various organizations. Since then the National Archives of Korea(NAK) has been able to rather actively understand the situation of records and acquire them than simply collect them. The Act, which was revised in 2006, regulates electronically automated reporting methods in which the production reporting datas are generated in the record creation system and transferred to the record management system. Despite improvements in the system, electronic reporting methods are being used in part. The 713 public institutions have submitted reports of record production to the NAK in 2017, and this study analyses them of only 47 central administrative agencies, including departments, offices, agencies, and committees. Their reports have 15 forms which consist of production statistics and inventories of 7 types of records including general records, survey, research, review, minutes, shorthand, audiovisual records, secret records, government publications. This suggests implications for improving the reporting system of record production.
