A Study on the Characteristic of the Folk Houses' Plans compared with Central Region's ones in Che-chun City (중부형민가와 비교를 통한 제천지역 민가의 평면특성에 관한 조사연구)

  • After 18th century in Korea, a tendency of the traditional folk houses shows not only the typical types but also the cultural areas in terms of each regional part. The existing folk houses are selected in order to compare the characteristic of the plans with those of the central region in Korea. Moreover this region has been a collided zone of culture and military from the old period of the Three Kingdoms, because the district of Che-chun is located between the southern part and the central one. So its culture and housing plan showed as unique forms, so-called the Culture of Frontier and Composite. Consequently the purposes of this study are to grasp the characteristic of those plans and to compare the plan types with ones of the central region. For the attainment of the above goal, this investigated study is prosecuted by means of the existing 6-folk houses in Che-chun city.

  • The following results were obtained from the experiment on the oyster spatfall, Crassostrea gigas by means of the rack method in YonghoBay, on the southern coast of Korea, from June to August in 1962 and 1963. 1. The Outside of shells as a collector showed better result than inside in numbers of attached oyster spats. 2. The horizontal type of the rack was more efficient for spatfall than the typical type of the rack. 3. The mode variance, in shell height, were shown as 21-25mm and 26-30mm, and the variance of range was 13.0-53.0mm for 77 days. 4. The optimum spat-fall season was from August 17 to 19 and 24 to 27, and spat of the oyster were attached in number of 7 per collector each day. 5. The optimum exposure time in spatfall was 4 hours. 6, The average water temperature and specific gravity, during the spawning season, was $25.98^{\circ}C$ and 0.1871, respectively.

  • 바쁜 일상 속에서 사람들이 길을 걸으면서 스마트폰을 사용하고 있다. 이로 인하여 스마트폰 너머에 있는 장애물을 발견하지 못한 채 계속 길을 걷다보면 장애물에 걸려 넘어져 다치는 상황이 발생하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 스마트폰 너머의 상황을 실시간 영상 배경화면으로 보여 줄 수 있는 안드로이드 기반의 애플리케이션 개발 내용에 대하여 기술한다. 이는 단순한 스마트폰의 배경화면뿐만 아니라 애플리케이션의 동작 중에도 스마트폰 바깥 영상이 보이도록 해 줌으로써 사람들이 보다 안전하게 길을 걸으면서도 스마트폰을 사용 할 수 있도록 해 준다.

Phase Asymmetry Effect on Vesicle Fusion Induced by Phospholipase D (인지질분해효소D에 의해 유도된 소낭 융합에 대한 상 비대칭의 영향)

  • Spherical phospholipid bilayers, vesicles, were formed with respect to phase of each layer via a double emulsion technique. The conversion of phosphatidylcholine (PC) to phosphatidic acid (PA) at the outer layer, caused by phospholipase D (PLD), induced a curvature change in the vesicles, which eventually led them to fuse each other. The effect of the lipid layer physical-properties on the PLD-induced vesicle fusion was investigated using the fluorescence intensity change. 8-Aminonaphthalene-1,3,6-trisulfonic acid disodium salt(ANTS) and p-Xylene-bis(N-pyridinium bromide)(DPX) were encapsulated in the vesicles, respectively, for the quantification of the fusion. The fluorescence scale was calibrated with the fluorescence of a 1/1 mixture of ANTS and DPX vesicles in NaCl buffer taken as 100% fluorescence (0% fusion) and the vesicles containing both ANTS and DPX as 0% fluorescence (100% fusion), considering the leakage into the medium studied directly in a separate experiment using vesicles containing both ANTS and DPX. It was observed that the fusion occurred to the liquid-phase of the inner layer only. The fusion behaviors were very similar for both solid and liquid of the outer layer. However, the leakage was faster for the solid-phase outer-layer than the liquid-phase outer-layer. The difference in the leakage seems to be caused by the lipid concentration and the lateral diffusivity in the layer.

  • In this study, the flow characteristics around the cutter head, which makes the dredging soil suspended, were measured to evaluate the environmental affect of the dredging works. The PIV was used for measuring the flow characteristics around the cutter head for suction and non-suction cases. As the results, the mean velocity was decreased from the cutter head to outward. The mean velocity decreasing rate of the non-suction case was larger than that of the suction case, but the turbulence intensity decreasing rate of the non-suction case was smaller than that of the suction case because of the suction energy which makes the z-direction flow.

  • The aim of this study is to reveal the lived experience of gambling addicts who have chosen to move near to a casino area to live. Thus, the researchers interviewed four gambling addicts (who live in the vicinity of the casino)and analyzed what spatiality they experienced and what it meant by using the van Mannen's hermeneutics phenomenological approach. The result revealed that what affected and constituted their lived experiences essentially was not where they came from or where there are now but the phenomenon itself which they stayed close to the casino. Even though they escaped their own living space for themselves and flowed into the casino vicinity, they seemed to live only for today, however they lived to make up the past loss or dream for better future through beating the odds of gambling. Therefore they did not make an ontological living. Thus, they were experiencing an existential anxiety as a 'Sandwich Being' between the outside world and somewhere else in the world.

Removal of $^{210}Po$ and $^{234}Th$ from Seawater at the East-southern Coastal Region of Korea Peninsula in Spring (춘계 한국 동해남부 연안해역에서 해수중 $^{210}Po$$^{234}Th$의 제거)

  • The vertical profiles of the natural $^{210}Po,\;^{210}Pb\;and\;^{234}Th$, activities were measured at the upper 150 m or 200 m of water column from west-east intersection in the east-southern coastal area of the Korea Peninsula during the period from 26 to 29 April 1994 to compare the removal rates (residence time) and removal processes for $^{210}Po\;and\;^{234}Th$. At the inshore stations, the $^{210}Po$ activity was generally higher in the thermocline and its under layer than in the surface mixed layer, while represented the reversed pattern at the offshore stations. However, the $^{210}Pb$ activity decreased generally with depth. Also, the activity of $^{210}Po$ relative to its parent $^{210}Pb$ was deficient in the water column above the main thermocline, but was slightly excess or close to equilibrium in the thermocline and its under layer. The vertical profiles for the activity of $^{210}Pb$ relative to its parent $^{226}Ra$ showed the reversed pattern with the vertical variation of $^{210}Po$ excess (or deficiency). The $^{234}Th$ activity was significantly lower in the surface mixed layer and thermocline than in the deeper layer. The residence time of $^{210}Po$ ranged from 1 to 4 years at the five stations except station E8 that showed yet long residence time (approximately 10 years). The long residence time at the station E8 may resulted from the thicker surface mixed layer and subsequent the vertical mixing of $^{210}Po$ which was recycled in the lower surface mixed layer compared to at the other stations. Also, the residence time of $^{210}Po$ was shorter at the inshore stations than at the offshore stations. However, the residence time of $^{234}Th$ ranged from 52 to 74 days at all station without the significant variation, was very much shorter relative to the residence time of $^{210}Po$. The correlation between the removal rate of dissolved $^{234}Th$ and the concentration of total suspended matter (TSM) was generally positive. Therefore, it seems that the major route of the removal mechanism of $^{234}Th$ from seawater in the surface mixed layer is via adsorption onto suspended particle surfaces (most likely inorganic particles) and subsequent settling to the bottom layer. Between the removal rate of dissolved $^{210}Po$ and the concentration of chlorophyll-a was positively good correlation. Consequently, most likely the removal of $^{210}Po$ may be occurred by uptake to organisms (mainly such as planktonic debris or fecal pellets) and subsequent settling.

Tandem Mass Spectrometry of N-linked Glycans from Human Immunoglobulin G (다중 질량 분석법을 이용한 인체 면역글로불린 G의 N-연결 글라이칸 분석)

  • We used electrospary ionization ion trap tandem mass spectrometry (ESI-IT tandem MS) to structural elucidation of three different biantennary-type glycans having zero, one, two galactoses (G0, G1, G2). The highest fragment ion in the MS/MS spectra of three glycans was produced by 0,2-ring cleavage of fucose-linked N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) in reducing end. The fragment ions both from precursor ions and 0,2-ring cleaved ions ($^{0.2}An$; n=5 for G0, n=6 for G1 and G2) were not overlapped each other. As results of $MS^n$ analyses, tandem fragmentation trees of each glycans were generated and 2,4-ring cleavages ($^{2.4}A_6$) were occurred in GlcNAc linked to reducing end GlcNAc. This structural elucidation and fragmentation study of N-linked glycans by tandem mass spectrometry can be applied to structural analysis of more complicated glycans.

South Korean Society and Disciplined Travel Fantasy in the 1960s -Focusing on Kim Chan-Sam's 『世界一周無錢旅行記』(1962) (규율된 여행 판타지의 60년대적 구성 -김찬삼의 『세계일주무전여행기(世界一周無錢旅行記)』(1962)를 중심으로)

  • Kim Chan-sam's 『世界一周無錢旅行記』 was released in 1962. This was a time when the general public was strongly restricted from traveling abroad. Most of the people lived in 'domestic'. Low development and political upheaval continued. The readership wanted a fantasy, which came out of a desire to escape from the peninsula. So was to become more popular around the popular characters called 'Kim Chan-sam'. Kim Chan-sam had to be a pushover to the public. This figure had to be secular and de-politicized. Above all, ideological bias had to be removed. The book's imaginary geography is the "world as a non-communist state" with a high purity. The Cold War ideology was prevalent throughout South Korean society. Kim Chan-sam knew exactly what he could and could not tell the South Korean reader. He couldn't tell you the reality of my readers not being able to travel abroad. Not to mention a society locked up 'domestic' on the Korean reality. The study analyzes Kim Chan-sam's storytelling strategy. Looking at the meaning of the travel fantasy,agenre of the 1960s, I would like to ask why travel writing in our time is still bound by its past limitations.
