60GHz 빔포밍 트랜시버 기술 연구

  • 60GHz 주파수는 최대 9GHz 까지 엄청난 대역폭을 활용하여 Gbps급의 무선전송이 가능한 대역으로서, 최근 이 대역을 댁내 무선전송장치 및 초고속 무선랜에 활용하기 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이와 같이 60GHz에 대한 관심도가 높아진 이유는, 밀리미터파 통신이 기존에는 무선 백홀용으로 주로 사용되었던것에 비해 지금은 가정 및 사무실내에서의 초고속 네트워크 또는 영상가전에서의 무선 전송장치 등 응용분야의 다변화가 예상됨에 따라, ISM 대역이면서 광대역을 활용할 수 있는 60GHz가 급부상하게 된 것으로 본다. 이와 함께 CMOS 칩기술의 꾸준한 발전으로 현재는 수 십 나노공정을 이용하여 테라헤르쯔 대역에서도 동작하는 칩이 발표되고 있는 바 그동안 60GHz 시장 확산의 가장 큰 걸림돌이 었던 무선 전송장치의 높은 가격, 사이즈, 소모전력의 문제를 한꺼번에 해결할 수 있게 된 점도 이유중 하나이다. 따라서 이와 관련하여 본고에서는 ETRI와 KETI를 중심으로 진행되어 온 "60GHz 무선 전송장치에 탑재 가능한 범용 CMOS 송수신 칩 및 이를 활용한 빔포밍 트랜시버 기술에 관한 연구"를 소개하고자 한다.

Development of RAW Data Storage Equipment for Operation Algorithm research of the Millimeter Wave Tracking Radar (밀리미터파 추적레이더 운용 알고리듬 연구를 위한 RAW 데이터 저장 장비 개발)

  • Recently, the tracking radar continues research to develop a new operation algorithm that can acquire and track a target in various environments. In general, modeling similar to the real target and environment is used to develop a new operation algorithm, but there is a limit to modeling the real environment. In this paper, a RAW data storage device was developed to efficiently develop a new operation algorithm required for the tracking radar using millimeter wave to acquire and track the target. The RAW data storage equipment is designed so that the signal processing device of the tracking radar using millimeter wave can save the RAW data output from 8 channels to OOOMSPS. RAW data storage equipment consists of data acquisition equipment and data storage equipment. The data acquisition equipment was implemented using a commercial Xilinx KCU 105 Evaluation KIT capable of high-speed data communication interface, and the data storage equipment was implemented by applying a computer compatible with the commercial Xilinx KCU 105 Evaluation KIT. In this paper, the performance of the implemented RAW data storage equipment was verified through repeated interlocking tests with the signal processing device of the millimeter wave tracking radar.

Development of Millimeter wave Transmitter and Receiver for Long Distance Wireless Transmission Using NRD waveguide (NRD 가이드를 이용한 장거리 무선통신용 밀리미터파 대역 송수신기 개발)

  • In this paper, we fabricated along distance wireless communication transmitter and receiver over the 100 which used NRD technology. To make the transmitter and receiver of 400Hz band using the non radiative dielectric wave guide, transmitter was composed of gm oscillator, m modulator and antenna, receiver was composed of local gum oscillator, balanced mixer, 3dB direction coupler and antenna. Also we executed a wireless communication image transmission examination to the transmitter and receiver. We receive the image information in real-time data transmission from receiver after we send the image signal in the wireless distance of the 10km. Therefore, the 400Hz band U transmitter and receiver to be developed will be used widely for the transmission system CATV or broadband transmission system. This will be utilized also to the link device of a long distance high speed wireless communication network.

  • As the spectrum migrates to the higher frequency band around several milimeters wavelength for implementing wideband highspeed communications, it is more important to consider the channel attenuation characteristics of microwave signals. Microwave channels in 27GHz used in B-WLL system must be considered by compensating the power attenuation due to rainfall. So, in the design of one cell, the radiation power enhancement considering rainfall attenuation has an effort on the receiver in other cell as interference. In this paper we consider the main characteristics for B-WLL systems, optimum cell radius, and serviceable limit of heavy rainfall the design of the radiation power control system in case of enhancing the power that prevents from reducing the system capacity by interference.

  • We have designed and tuilt the quasioptical system for the dual channel receiver which is used for the simultaneous observation of the cosmic radio with 100GHz band and 150GHz band. The quasioptical system has been widely used to guide the beam for the millimeter and submillimeter waves. A Gaussian distribution of field and power transverse to their axis of propagation allow the simple and elegant theory of Gaussian quasioptics. Using the theory of Gaussian beam, we introduced the analysis of image beam which is applied for a wide range of frequency. In order to guide two beams from the Cassegrain antenna simultaneously, the quasioptical system and its components for the dual channel receiver were designed by using the image beam method. We have checked the characteristics of the quasioptical components and the system by using the heam measurement system, which is made by us. The quasioptical system has been installed in the dual channel receiver on the Cassegrain antenna. The performance of this system has been finally confimed through the successful simultaneous observation with two bands of the cosmic radio.

  • We report on the design, fabrication, and characterization of 0.35${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$-gate AIGaAs/InGaAs PHEMTs for millimeter-wane applications. The epi-wafer structures were designed using ATLAS for optimum DC and AC characteristics, 0.351m-gate AIGaAs/rnGaAs PHEMTs having different gate widths and number of fingers were fabricated using electron beam lithography Dependence of RF characteristics of PHEMT on gate finger with and number of gate fingers have been investigated. PHEMT haying two 0.35$\times$60${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$^2$ gate fingers showed the knee voltage, pinch-off voltage, drain saturation current density, and maximum transconductance of 1.2V, -1.5V, 275㎃/mm, and 260.17㎳/mm, respectively. The PHEMT showed fT(equation omitted)(current gain cut-off frequency) of 45㎓ and fmax(maximum oscillation frequency) of 100㎓. S$_{21}$ and MAG of the PHEMT were 3.6dB and 11.15dB, respectively, at 35㎓
