Printability of digital color ceramic ink on glazed surface of ink-jet printed ceramic tile (디지털 프린팅용 세라믹 잉크의 유약표면 인쇄적성 및 특성평가)

  • Digital ink-jet printing technology using ceramic ink, which is thermally stable at high temperature above $1000^{\circ}C$, has an advantage of eco-friendly process applicable to manufacturing products with an excellent durability and various designs. Recently, replacement from conventional manufacturing process to digital process using ink-jet printing technique has been significantly accelerated in ceramic tile industry. In this study, we investigated ink-jet printability of ceramic ink on ceramic tile. Cyan, magenta, yellow, black ceramic inks, which are digital primary color of ink-jet printing, were printed on glazed surface of ceramic tiles, and their printabilities were comparatively analyzed. High temperature sintering process is generally required for manufacturing ceramic products, thus effect of sintering process on printed pattern of ceramic ink was also investigated by analyzing ink penetration depth and ink dot area.

  • Photoimageable thick film technology is a new technology in that the lithography process such as exposure and development is applied to the conventional thick film process. Line resolution of 25 $\mu\textrm{m}$ width and 25 $\mu\textrm{m}$ space could be obtained by laminating green sheet, printing photoimageable Ag paste, exposing the test patterns, developing, and co-firing. In case of using the alumina substrate, 20 $\mu\textrm{m}$ fine line could be also obtained by similar process. Test results showed that exposing power density and developing time were the most important processing parameters for the fine line formation. Microstrip and series gap resonators with well-defined line morphology and good transmission characteristics in high frequency were formed by this new technology, and thereby dielectric constant and loss of test substrate were calculated.

  • LTCC 후막공정에서 일반적으로 사용되고 있는 스크린 프린팅 방법은 낮은 정밀도와 100um 이하의 선폭을 구현하는 데 한계를 보이고 있다. 이에 따라서 보다 미세한 라인을 형성 할 수 있는 반도체 미세라인 공정기술을 후막 공정에 응용한 후막 리소그라피 기술 (thick-film lithography technology)이 전자부품의 소형화에 대한 방안으로 연구 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 후막 리소그라피 기술에 사용되는 감광성 Silver 페이스트에 영향을 미치는 각기 다른 크기와 형상의 Silver 파우더들과 인쇄 후 표면의 roughness 개선을 위한 여러 종류의 첨가제들을 첨가하여 최적의 조성을 연구 하였으며, 그린시트와 페이스트의 매칭성을 해결하기 위해서 Tg가 다른 글라스 파우더를 첨가하였다. 또한 전면 인쇄 한 후에 건조, 노광, 현상, 적층, 소성 과정을 걸치는 후막 리소그라피 기술을 이용하여 소성 후 20um이하의 선폭을 가지는 내장형 패턴 구현하였으며 투과엑스레이와 O/S 테스트 통하여 우수한 특성을 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • Light Guide Panel(LGP) is a key part of backlight unit(BLU) which transforms line-light of lamp to surface-light. Dot pattern is formed on the injected LGP surface by screen printing. This dot pattern is composed of several ten thousands micro dots of diameter 150-180$\mu\textrm{m}$ or so. The dot patterning by screen printing causes low productivity and low performance of TFT-LCD. This research develops the micromachining technology for LGP mould which could form micro dot pattern by injection molding, removing the existing screen printing process.

  • Reading Pen is used mostly in educational purpose, yet its possibility is great as an input device for various IT devices. Reading Pen recognizes tiny dot patterns printed in papers, converts the patterns to corresponding codes, and plays audio contents that match the codes. Recognizing dot patterns and converting to the codes are the main function of Reading Pens, on which we focus and propose a novel algorithm. Such technology is never open to public and this paper is the first open attempt in this area. We test the algorithm and obtain 85% recognition ratio.

77-GHz Slot Array Antenna Using PCB and ACF (PCB와 ACF를 이용한 77 GHz 슬롯 배열 안테나)

  • This study presents the performance evaluation results of a 77-GHz waveguide slot array antenna that was fabricated by attaching a patterned printed circuit board(PCB) on a metal block. The 77-GHz waveguide was divided into a top plate and a bottom structure. The top plate was fabricated using a patterned PCB that can implement a fine slot at low cost. The top cover was then bonded to the bottom metal structure with a waveguide trough using anisotropic conductive film. For evaluating the antenna performance, a $1{\times}16$ slot array antenna was fabricated using our proposed method and the gain and pattern were measured and compared with the simulation results. Though the measurement results demonstrate a reduction in gain of around 2.3~3.5 dB compared to the simulation results assuming ideal bonding conditions, the pattern hardly changed and the slot antenna with a gain of approximately 17 dBi at 77 GHz can be easily manufactured at a low cost using the proposed method.

  • 결정질 태양전지 제작 시 실리콘 기판 표면의 전극형성은 주로 스크린 프린트를 이용하여 형성되고 있다. 이는 squeeze 와 실리콘 기판과의 직접 접촉으로 인하여 기판의 파손이 야기 될 수 있으며, 보다 미세한 전극 형성이 어려운 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 비접촉식 잉크젯 프린팅을 이용한 태양전지의 전극형성에 관하여 기술하였으며, 고효율 태양전지를 제작하기 위해 레이저를 이용한 grooving 형성과 전극의 패턴에 따른 반사방지막층 제거를 통하여 Buried contact cell 제작을 연구하였다. 이를 통해 전극의 선 폭을 $45{\mu}m$로 구현하였으며, 나노 크기의 입자 형태를 띤 Ag 잉크를 이용하여 인쇄하였다.

  • Microcontact printing (uCP) of alkanethiols on gold was the first representative of soft-lithography processes. This is an attempt to enhance the accuracy of classical to a precision comparable with optical lithography, creating a low-cost, large-area, and high-resolution patterning process. Microcontact printing relies on replication of a pattered PDMS stamp from a master to form an elastic stamp that can be inked with a SAM solution(monolayer -forming ink) using either immersion inking or contact inking. The inked PDMS stamp is then used to print a pattern that selectively protects the gold substrate during the subsequent etch.

Micro-patterning of light guide panel in a LCD-BLU by using on silicon crystals (실리콘 결정면을 이용한 LCD-BLU용 도광판의 미세산란구조 형성)

  • Luminous efficiency and uniformity in a LCD-BLU are mainly determined by fine scattering patterns formed on the light guide panel. We propose a novel fabrication method of 3-dimensional scattered patterns based on anisotropic etching of silicon wafers. Micro-pyramid patterns with 70.5 degree apex-angle and micro-prism patterns with 109.4 degree apex-angle can be self-constructed by the wet, anisotropic etching of (100) and (110) silicon wafers, respectively, and those patterns are easily duplicated by the PDMS replica process. Experimental results on spatial and angular distributions of irradiation from the light guide panel with the micro-pyramid patterns were very consistent with the calculation results. Surface roughness of the silicon-based micro-patterns is free from any artificial defects since the micro-patterns are inherently formed with silicon crystal surfaces. Therefore, we expect that the silicon based micro-patterning process makes it possible to fabricate perfect 3-dimensional micro-structures with crystal surface and apex angles, which may guarantee mass-reproduction of the light guide panels in LCD-BLU.

  • PEMS (printed electro-mechanical system) is fabricated by means of various printing technologies. Passive and active compo-nents in 2D or 3D such as conducting lines, resistors, capacitors, inductors and TFT(Thin Film Transistor), which are printed withfunctional materials, can be classified in this category. And the issue of PEMS is applied to a R2R process in the manu-facturing process. In many electro-devices, the vacuum process is used as the manufacturing process. However, the vacuum process has a problem, it is difficult to apply to a continuous process such as a R2R(roll to roll) printing process. In this paper, we propose an ESD (electro static deposition) printing process has been used to apply an organic solar cell of thin film forming. ESD is a method of liquid atomization by electrical forces, an electrostatic atomizer sprays micro-drops from the solution injected into the capillary with electrostatic force generated by electric potential of about several tens kV. ESD method is usable in the thin film coating process of organic materials and continuous process as a R2R manufacturing process. Therefore, we experiment the thin films forming of PEDOT:PSS layer and active layer which consist of the P3HT:PCBM. The organic solar cell based on a P3HT/PCBM active layer and a PEDOT:PSS electron blocking layer prepared from ESD method shows solar-to-electrical conversion efficiency of 1.42% at AM 1.5G 1sun light illumination, while 1.86% efficiency is observed when the ESD deposition of P3HT/PCBM is performed on a spin-coated PEDOT:PSS layer.
