Synthesis of the fluorescent Au nanoclusters is reported. The Au nanoclusters were synthesized via reduction of gold ions in reverse micelles with mild reducing agents. The Au nanoclusters show a bright red emission at 640 nm. The fluorescent Au nanoclusters attract great interest for sensor, electronic device and bio-imaging applications because of ultra-small size, high chemical stablity and bright emission. We believe that the fluorescent Au nanoclusters can have optoelectronic applications such as optical down conversion phosphors.

Although the Herba Cirsii is known to posses beneficial health effects, the anti-diabetic effects and the mechanism of action have not been elucidated. In the present study we have shown that Herba Cirsii Extract (HCE) can stimulate glucose uptake in OP9 adipocytes. Unlike insulin, HCE did not stimulate the Ser473 phosphorylation and activation of Akt. The increasing effects of HCE on glucose uptake were inhibited by PD680509 and compound C pretreatment, which means that the glucose uptake effects by HCE were carried out by extracelluar signal-regulated kinase1/2(ERK1/2) and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation. Further studies revealed that HCE stimulated glucose transport occurs through a mechanism involving ERK1/2 activation and AMPK activation.

It is well known that pneumatic motors convert fluid power into mechanical power with a low efficiency. The Value of the efficiency depends on several factors, of which the most important are ; type of motor, speed, supply pressure, sie and geometry of the motor. This paper presents an analytical and experimental study of the performance of he vane type pneumatic motors. This investigation deals with all the pneumatic motors. This investigation deals with all the major aspects of the air flow through a vane type pneumatic motor and pints out which are the main causes of the low efficiency of the motor, and therefore indicates which changes in a motor design an lead to optimum performance.

Very narrow transmission peaks are generated by the phase-shifted fiber Bragg grating with phase-shift region. The width of the transmission peaks are about ～0.5nm. A novel 2$\times$2 switching characteristics are investigated. This switching characteristics are obtained in the multimode interference waveguide structure. For analysis, beam propagation method (BPM) based on mode propagation theory is used. As a result, the extinction ratio of higher than 11.74dB is achieved.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe and understand the meaning of cancer survivors' life experience after being discharged from the primary cancer treatment. Methods: Data were collected through a tape-recorded in-depth interview from six participants living in Gyeonggi province from September 2007 to January 2008. The analysis of the data was made through the phenomenological analytic method suggested by Colaizzi. Results: Thirteen themes regarding the survivors' life experience were found. From these thirteen themes, six major theme were emerged. The six major theme included 'keeping his/her mind comfortable', 'going ahead with new hope', 'accepting for his/her existing burden', 'maintaining a good health for a new life', 'improving the strength and relationship among the family member', and 'being faithful to his/her religion'. Conclusions: The results of this study would help oncology nurses to understand the cancer survivors' life and to develop a quality of life improvement program for physical, psychosocial, and spiritual aspects of nursing.

전자도서관과 같은 정보제공원은 이미지, 음성, 동영상 등과 같은 비정형 멀티미디어 데이터 서비스에 대한 요구를 받고 있다. 그리하여 본 연구에서는 음성 처리를 위해 어절생성기, 음절복원기, 형태소분석기, 교정기를 제안하였다. 제안한 음성처리 기술로 음성데이터베이스를 텍스트데이터베이스로 변환 한후 텍스트데이터베이스로부터 색인데이터베이스를 추출하였다. 그리고 추출한 색인데이터베이스로 텍스트와 음성의 내용기반정보검색에 활용할 수 있음을 보이기 위해 정보검색모델을 제안하였다.

대서양 청어는 바닷가재 어업에 있어 주요 미끼로서 사용되어지고 있고 해양 생태계내에서 다른 어류들의 먹이로서 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 그러나 해양생태계의 환경적인 요소, 즉 해수면 온도, 플랑크톤량, 서식지 해저퇴적물 상태에 따라 자원이 민감하게 영향을 받는다. 특히 미성어의 단계에서는 낮은 해수 온도에 대해 영향을 받기가 쉽다. 이 연구에서는 인공위성을 이용하여 측정된 해수면 온도와 2년생 가입자원의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 해수면 온도의 측정지역은 대서양 청어의 산란지역으로 한정하였다. 연구 결과 상관계수는 0.69로 나타났고 이는 어업자원의 변동성을 설명함에 있어 환경적인 요인이 중요하게 고려되어야 한다는 것을 의미한다.

Glucose uptake plays a pivotal role in maintaining whole body glucose homeostasis in adipocytes and skeletal muscles. In the present study we have shown that Fructus Piperis Longi Extracts (FPLE) can stimulate glucose uptake in OP9 adipocytes. The increasing effects of FPLE on glucose uptake were inhibited by compound C pretreatment, which means that the glucose uptake effects by FPLE were carried out by AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation. Further studies revealed that FPLE stimulated glucose transport occurs through a mechanism involving extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK1/2) activation.

Objectives : The objective of this study is to report the effect of foot orthosis on by observing 3 clinical case studies. Methods and Results : We investigated for the changes in Cobb's angle and pelvic height by using the standing full X-ray. After application of foot orthosis, Cobb's angle and pelvic height was reduced in cases. We treated 2 cases with only Foot Orthosis, 1 case with Foot Orthosis and Korean Medicine therapy. Conclusions : This study showed that foot orthosis can be effective way on nonstructural scoliosis and statistics study should be followed.
