A Survey Study on the Performance of Cyber Trade of Korean Traders (사이버무역에 관한 무역업계 실태(實態) 조사(調査))

  • [ $\Box$ ]무역업계는 인터넷의 발전에 따라 급속히 사이버화 하고 있는 무역환경에 적극적으로 대응하기 위해 사이버무역의 도입과 활성화를 위한 움직임을 급속히 확대하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. - 조사대상업체의 절반이 넘는(51.8%) 업체들이 자사제품 홍보, 거래선 발굴, 오퍼 및 거래협상 둥 각종 무역업무에 인터넷을 이용하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. - 그러나 무역업계의 사이버무역 활용은 아직 초기단계 수준으로, 이용업체의 절반이상(57.3%)은 작년(1999년) 이후에 처음으로 사이버무역을 시작하였으며 사이버무역에 의한 수출비중도 10% 미만(1999년: 8.8%)의 낮은 수준인 것으로 조사되었다. - 반면, 향후 무역업계의 사이버무역 도입 확대와 수출비중 증가는 가속화될 것으로 나타나, 2000년에는 사이버무역 비중이 전년보다 두 배 이상 늘어난 18.7%에 달할 것으로 예상되었으며, 특히 중소기업의 경우 사이버무역 비중이 상대적으로 대기업보다 커질 것으로 전망되었다. $\Box$ 무역업계가 사이버무역을 도입하는 이유로는 "해외시장 개척효과" 때문이라는 응답이 가장 많았으며, 다음으로 "수출업무 신속화률 통한 인건비 절감"과 "광고비의 절약" 등의 효과를 염두에 두고 있는 것으로 나타났다. - 따라서 여러 수출단계 중에서도 "해외거래선 발굴", "해외시장정보의 수집", "자사 제품의 해외 홍보" 등 주로 시장개척과 마케팅단계에서 사이버무역이 가장 많이 활용되고 성과도 큰 것으로 나타났다. - 시장개척과 마케팅을 위하여 약 40%의 무역업체가 무역거래 알선 사이트를 이용하고 있으며 특히 중소기업의 활용이 두드러진 것으로 파악되었다. - 반면, 사이버무역 활동이 애로를 겪고 있는 수출단계로는 "대금결제, 물류 유통", "신용조회", "거래계약 체결" 등의 순으로 조사되었는데, 이는 국제적 인증제도의 미비, 신용조사에 대한 공신력 부족 둥이 주된 요인인 것으로 분석되었다. $\Box$ 한편, 무역업계는 사이버무역의 필요성과 활용성과에 대해 긍정적인 인식을 갖고 있으나, 사이버무역을 활성화하는데 필요한 인프라로서 사이버 무역 전문인력이나 인터넷 통신환경 등은 아직 만족할 만한 수준이 못 되는 것으로 조사되었다. - 사이버인력 부문에서는 무역업무 종사자 중 인터넷 활용직원의 비율이 50%가 되지 않는 업체가 전체의 절반을 넘고 있으며, 특히 중소기업의 인터넷 활용 직원의 비율이 대기업에 비해 낮은 것으로 나타났다. - 향후 무역업체가 10명의 무역인력을 채용한다고 가정할 경우, 평균 4.5명을 사이버무역 전문인력으로 채용할 계획이라고 밝히고 있으며, 중소기업(4.7명)이 대기업(3.4명)보다 사이버무역 전문인력에 대한 수요가 더 큰 것으로 나타나 이에 대한 대책이 시급한 것으로 파악되었다. - 인터넷 전용선 설치비율도 전체적으로 40%대에 그치고 있으며, 특히 중소기업의 경우 전용선 이용비율(38.5%)이 대기업(80%)의 절반에도 못미치는 열악한 수준에 있어 중소기업의 사이버 무역이용에 하나의 걸림돌이 되고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. $\Box$ 사이버 무역활성화를 위해 가장 시급한 과제로는 "사이버무역 전문인력 확충을 위한 체계적 교육 및 훈련제공"과 "사이버무역 관련법규 및 제도의 마련"으로 나타나, - 정부나 유관기관이 앞장서서 사이버무역 관련 교육프로그램의 개발, 자격시험제도의 도입 등과 아울러 대외무역법 둥 관련법률 및 제도를 정비해 줄 것을 무역업계에서 기대하는 것으로 지적되었다.

  • Roadmap of cyber trade offers members the opportunity to interact electronically with like-mined individuals and to both create and buyer relevant to a topic of interest. Roadmap of cyber trade was conduct on the economic effect of electronic commerce according to the method of constructing the Internet. Firms using cyber trade have difficulty enjoying a uniformly identical effect. That is, since the improvement effect of the intrafirm business method, unnecessary repeated manual paperwork and the use effect of being able to maintain the close relationship with to the parties to trades in the process of prompt receipt and delivery of documents are long-term and indirect effects, they have some limitation in that they can not be measured as coefficients but only as scales. In terms of business management, the intensification of corporate competitiveness improved by $10.00\%$ in case of less than 10 times and by $11.53\%$ in case of 50 to less than 50 times. And it was found that the effect of profit increase as the number of inquiries was large. That is, it was found that the effect of profit increase was $10.88\%$ when the number of inquiries was less than 10 times but it increased to $14.00\%$ in case of 50$\∼$less than 100 times. Therefore, to revitalize cyber trade, it is thought that government, the academic community and the business world all need to make much research into and sustained investment in cyber trade.

  • Owing to the Boero Service, Global Trading will be materialized as international Business to Business E-Commerce. There are three principles in the letter of credit transaction, that is to say, independence and abstraction, document dealing, strict compliance. In the electronic letter of credit, these principles are called as independence and abstraction, electronic document dealing, strict compliance. As a joint venture between SWIFT and TT Club, bolero.net is changing the way the world trades by providing a web-based, paperless mode of commerce that is designed to become a global standard. As bolero.net supplies the service of the title registry resolves the problem of Electronic Bill of Lading, the electronic letter of credit will be easily introduced. Thus, this study deals with the Nature of the Electronic Letter of Credit Transaction and the Presentation of the Documents, in particular, the Bolero Bill of Lading.

  • This paper investigated the preference change of payment terms in international trade along with counteroffer or first offer conditions of the other parties. Studies on trade payment terms have mainly focused on payment term determination factors such as firm size, product price level, country credit rate, etc. We tried to find other factors affecting payment terms choice, during the negotiation process. We applied behavioral economics theories such as 'Status Quo Bias' and 'Anchoring effect' to build our research model. To prove the existence of the above effects, we proceeded with field experiments to the exporting companies in Alibaba.com. Both 'Status Quo Bias' and 'Anchoring effect' were found in the field experiment. Most of the exporting companies preferred traditional payment methods to new payment methods. And an initial request for a low advance payment ratio led to a lower advance payment ratio. Also, the experience of using new payment methods could diminish status quo bias. This paper applied behavioral economics theories and field experiment methodology to the payment term studies in international trades. These attempts could contribute to expanding the diversity of methodology and scope of international trade studies.

  • A main purpose of this study is to examine the international mercantile custom of Russia. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the new Russia have to make a relation external world for economic development. The geostrategic importance and natural resources in Russia attracted constant interest of western countries. There are many difficulties in this country and hundreds of Korean and western companies already operate in Russia and their activities are more and more of a long-tenn character. So, the settlements of trade and understanding between Korea and Russia are very important. It includes effective methods of trade settlement, factors of successful negotiation, differences of trade customs and business environment.

  • The purpose of this study aims to the implications by the introduction of TSU/BPO system as a instrument of trade settlement. Jointly with financial messaging provider SWIFT, the ICC Banking Commission has developed the URBPO to take into account the legitimate expectations of all relevant sectors. Once the goods have been shipped, the seller's bank uploads the shipping and logistics data to the TSU to be checked against the baseline. URBPO is the first ever set of standards in supply chain finance that governs BPO transactions worldwide. BPO enables banks to reduce the risks associated with international trade to the benefit of both buyers and sellers. A BPO is an irrevocable undertaking given by an Obliger Bank to a Recipient Bank to pay a specified amount under the condition of a successful electronic matching of data or acceptance of mismatches. The BPO should be viewed as an exercise in collaboration between trading partners and their banks. Drawings upon global standards and incorporating the benefits offered by letters of credit, the new instrument has the potential to benefit all parties in a trade transaction-and bring trade settlement into the 21st century.

A Study on Chinese Consumers' Acceptance Intention of Mobile Payment Service: A Theory of Consumption Values Perspective (중국 소비자의 모바일 결제서비스 수용의도 연구: 소비가치 이론의 적용)

  • Mobile payment services are evolving into a variety of integrated platforms that greatly affect the lives of consumers. In addition, the importance of mobile payment services is being used as a means of payment in cross-border e-commerce. Accordingly, although a number of related studies have been conducted, most of the studies are based on the technology acceptance model. This study analyzes consumer acceptance intention of mobile payment services by applying consumption value theory. Four dimensions were derived from the theory of consumption value: functional value, emotional value, social value and situational value. With this, we identified the impact on consumer acceptance of mobile payment services. The analysis was performed using a structural equation model. Researchers collected 300 copies of the questionnaire from Chinese consumers and used it for analysis. Empirical analysis shows that functional value, emotional value, social value and situational value are all increasing consumers' willingness to accept mobile payment services. In addition, only social values were showing differences in their influence on the acceptance of mobile payment services with age. This study contributes to the development of the relevant field in that few studies describe mobile payment services by applying consumption value theory.

An Empirical Study of Effect how e-Trade and e-L/C Impact on Business Performance in SME (우리나라 중소기업의 전자신용장 활용(e-L/C)과 사업성과에 관한 실증연구)

  • Recently, enterprise information management activities have been applied to promote electronic trade, while changing the paradigm of cross-border trade and overall trade business processes. L/C, which facilitates payment from the trade transaction in a company, has been able to eliminate the high cost and inefficient element of the trade process by utilizing the electronic letter of credit (e-L/C). This study examines the influential relationship among the e-trade utilizing factor (such as the perceived ease of use and the volition of CEO), the e-L/C and corporate performance, and the study aimed to verify the moderating effect of customer service level by organizations utilizing e-trade. For the purpose of the research, we conducted a survey implementing the e-L/C and analyzed the 338 data collected. The results of this research are as follows. First, the perceived ease of use and volition of CEO have positive impact on the e-L/C. Second, the e-L/C has positive impact on the business performance. Third, a moderating effect shows on the customer expectation level. The main implication of this study is that the perceived ease of use is to be considered preferentially than the volition of CEO in order to utilize electronic trading, and the volition of CEO shows synergy effect with customer service level by organization utilizing e-trade.

  • This study is to present alternatives of strategical utilization of e-L/C in respective of transaction cost. Documentary credit is most used for trade importers' credit quality and the guarantee of the purchase price as the form of payment in export and import business dealings. The beneficiary must provide the documents required in a letter of credit in order to claim payment documents from the issuing bank, this leads to certain complexity during the procedure in practice, the preparation and the expenses of significant requirements and additional documents as well as in completing demands from the credit. In a result, there has been issues raised about the aspects of time and cost during the payment process. The outcome of such problems caused by delays in the existing trade procedure is the public to require the use of e-L/C in order to improve problems from the 'Transaction Cost' side. This study provides e-L/C's use to overcome the problems that are appearing from 'Transaction Cost' side as the aspect of time and the cost. In order to do so, we have to identify the problems in the original credit and e-L/C. Thus, provide the propose strategy of e-L/C from the Transaction Cost aspect.

A Study on the Institutional Perspective and Application for a Bank Payment Obligation as a International Payment Solution (국제결제제도로서 BPO의 제도적 관점과 그 운용에 관한 연구)

  • Bank payment obligations (BPO) have been used since 2013 as a payment solution in the business of supply chain finance. The BPO is an irrevocable undertaking of the obligor bank subject to the successful electronic matching of all required data sets with the established baseline in the TMA. Although the BPO should be regarded as similar to a letter of credit, it is a new payment solution based on advanced technology and data-driven mechanisms. The BPO differs from the credit in institutional terms such as bank-to-bank obligations, automated matching engines, and transfer and confirmation, etc. The BPO can also be used effectively as a stand-alone electronic solution to traditional instruments. it provides a new range of solutions to meet the ever-changing needs of trade customers. However, Operation of the BPO can leads to several issues including an assurance of payment between recipient banks and sellers because the BPO is a bank-to-bank obligation. The URBPO does not apply to relationships between banks and their business clients. So, the primary objective of this paper is to promote institutional understanding and present implications by reviewing major issues concerning the BPO as compared with the letter of credit from the institutional point of view. This research was based on documentary research focusing on the preceding research and the materials of ICC and SWIFT.
