Method for Supporting Multiple Service in a Mobile Terminal (이동 단말기에서 다중 서비스 지원 방안)

  • Our paper deals with a method for supporting multiple call/sessions in a mobile terminal. The different identifier for each protocol layer is assigned to each session when a mobile terminal sets SDP for multimedia services. In particular, QoS based tasks are used for managing the traffics in radio interface. Also, queuing, admission control, load control, resource allocation and scheduling are done based on the priority of sessions. The various multimedia services which is different in the requirement of resource allocation are able to be serviced simultaneously because a mobile terminal can provide the various services based on this scheme.

  • In this paper, we propose a buoy system based on multi-hop relay networks for ocean observation. The proposed system consists of various sensor modules, a gateway, wireless communication modules, and a remote monitoring site. The sensor modules are integrated with various communication interfaces and connected to the gateway of the proposed buoy system with an unified protocol based on controller area network (CAN)-bus. In order to communicate with the remote monitoring site and extend the coverage, the proposed system uses long-term evolution (LTE) router and XBee mesh network modules. The field test results show that the proposed system can extend the coverage using the proposed multi-hop relay network.

  • The rapid increase of mobile devices such as smart phone and smart pad have raised the needs for seamless multimedia services during moving at anytime and anywhere. Current 4G mobile devices are equipped with both 4G (LTE) and WLAN (WiFi) interfaces, and mobile services operators provide wireless Internet services using 4G network with a wider coverage and WiFi zone. Generally users prefer to use the Internet services through WLAN rather than LTE in the coverage of WLAN. However, since WLAN has a long L2 handover latency, it is difficult to support seamless services during a handover. In this paper, we proposed an efficient handover scheme based on flow mobility for WLANs to support a seamless service during handovers by using the overlaid 4G network with a wider coverage. Also, we showed the outperformance of the proposed scheme on a testbed.

  • With the advent of Ubiquitous environment, wired-wireless combination network is being studied very actively in which mobile nodes having multi-hop communication capability connect wired internet network easily, and shares the information. The study of wired and wireless combination network between MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network) and wired network is being focused only on the configuration of heterogeneous network interface. The proposed algorithm establishes independent multi-paths between source node and destination node to prevent data loss when errors happen in route. As the result, it shows that the reliability of the combination network can be improved by making data transmit continuously on the route error.

Design and Application of Location Data Management System for LBS (LBS를 위한 위치 데이터 관리 시스템 설계 및 적용)

  • There are wireless location acquisition technique, LBS platform technique, and LBS application technique in the important technical elements of the LBS. In this paper, we design a location data management system which is the core base technique of the important technical elements of the LBS. The proposed system consist of an application interface of LBS, a query processor of application. service, a location estimator of the moving objects, a location information manager, a real-time data receiver, and a database of location data. This system manages efficiently the location change information of the moving objects using the database technique, suggests some useful inform to the users of LBS, and supports operation and facility of location estimation to process continuous location data of the moving objects. On the basis of location data triggering, this system supplements the problem of the related location data management systems to complement the loss of location data in the environment of real-time.

  • In this paper DynaMoNET is suggested as a novel IPv6-based multi-homed mobile network architecture which is composed of nested mobile ad hoc networks dynamically coming together through wireless personal area networks. Each ad hoc network has a mobile router which may work as a root mobile router instead of fixed mobile routers in a DynaMoNET. A root mobile router provides the reliable Internet connectivity for the entire mobile network. This paper includes a innovative handover protocol for multi-homed mobile networks, network switchover algorithm considering multiple decision factors, root mobile router election process based on token-based algorithm fast root mobile router discovery algorithm and fault avoidance mechanism to support reliable Internet connectivity. Finally the system architecture of a mobile router is given in detail.

  • In this paper, we propose a new MAC protocol, namely DM-MMAC (Doze Mode Multi-Channel MAC) for ad hoe wireless networks which can utilize multiple channels effectively, thereby enhancing the network throughput considerably. Basically, the IEEE 802.11 specification allows for the use of multiple channels available at the physical layer, but its MAC protocol is designed only for a single channel with the fatal drawback, so called multi-channel hidden terminal problem in multi-channel environments. In this vein, several multi-channel MAC protocols have been proposed, but most of them demonstrate the performance problem that its throughput drastically decreases as the number of mobile hosts residing in a given network increases with small number of available channels. In this work, we tried to improve the performance of multi-channel MAC protocols in terms of network throughput as well as power saving effects by simplifying the channel assignment and channel capturing procedures and reducing the possibility of collisions between mobile hosts.

  • By recent development of wired and wireless communication technology, any service can be delivered through broadcasting networks or communication networks. So contents consumers want to receive broadcasting program via any accessible network. Network independent broadcasting system can receive optimized multimedia contents by combining the high-quality multimedia contents transmitted through broadcasting network and the additional contents delivered through communication network. Additional contents can be other multimedia contents, URL of contents, some texts for indicating information of received multimedia, etc. Network independent broadcasting system is in early stage of development, and receivers and the monitoring system for hybrid broadcast are under development. Thus the multiplexing method and demultiplexing method to perform hybrid broadcasting is on study. In this paper, we designed the demultiplexing algorithm to perform hybrid broadcasting system and implemented demultiplexer system based on modulator interface system standard T2-MI of DVB-T2.

  • The paper presents a framework for developing real-time multi-user board games and applications in augmented reality. Recently, increase the environment to playing game in augmented reality with advancement of computing ability improvement and wireless networking technique of mobile device. While the trend of utilizing this kind of games is creasing, the facts that there is a shortage of games whose contents are attractive to users. In this paper we propose a framework that enables game content developers to develop new game contents base on augmented reality easily and quickly. This framework is an automatic service that can augment in various methods by using the supported marker recognition service. Therefore game contents developers do not need to know about either augmented reality technique or the inner process structure. The framework also supports special functions and various interaction interfaces for augmented reality board game and components of the board game we can implement. These enable developers to accomplish all the necessary components and structures of the board game more easily.

  • In these days, the demand of users to extend available period of mobile systems is increased according as the functions of mobile systems have been varied and the use of multimedia application has been increased. This paper proposes an integrated power management framework that considers executed workload types for effective energy management. The conventional methods use DVFS technique for CPU and DPM technique for WNIC separately or simply combine them based on the assumption that they are orthogonal one another. However, the proposed mechanism determines the kind of workload under analysis of the characteristics of workloads incoming through a WNIC. The proposed method can reduce energy consumption of system level effectively by controlling CPU and WNIC to proper power mode based on analyzed characteristics of workload. The experimental result shows the proposed method reduces energy consumption by 9% for BE (Best Effort) workload, CBR (Constant Bit Rate) workload, and Interactive workload on average and by 16% to maximum when compared with the conventional methods which simply combine DVFS technique for CPU and DPM technique for WNIC.
