An Analysis On Students' Misconceptions of the Reversibility of Irrational Functions (무리함수의 가역성에 대한 학생들의 오개념 분석)

  • The inverse function of a one-to-one correspondence is explained with a graph, a numerical formula or other useful expressions. The purpose of this paper is to know how low achieving students understand the learning contents needed reversible thinking about irrational functions. Low achieving students in this study took paper-pencil test and their written answers were collected. They made various mistakes in solving problems. Their error types were grouped into several classes and identified in this analysis. Most students did not connected concepts that they learned in the lower achieving students to think in reverse order in case of and to visualize concepts of functions. This paper implies that it is very important to take into account students' accommodation and reversible thinking activity.

Analysis of the ability to interpret and draw a graph of the function to high school students (고등학생의 함수의 모양 그리기와 해석하는 능력 분석)

  • In this paper, we examine high school in order to know their ability for understanding about fundamental functions, such as polynomial, trigonometric, logarithm and exponential functions which have learned from high school. The result of this study shows as follows. More than half students are not able to draw shape of given functions, except polynomial. More students do not fully understand about function properties such as domain, codomain, range, maximum and minimum value.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the distance function average speed and the speed function. Particularly, in this study, we investigate the process of constructing the speed function in the distance function (irrational function, exponential function) which is difficult to weaken the argument in the denominator. In this process, students showed various anxieties and expressions about the procedural knowledge that they constructed first. In particular, if student B can not explain all the knowledge he already knows in this process, he showed his reflection on the process of calculating the differential coefficient. This study adds an understanding of the calculation method of students in differential coefficient learning. In addition, it is meaningful that the students who construct procedural knowledge at the time of calculating the differential coefficient have thought about how to provide opportunities to reflect on the procedure they constructed.

  • This paper presents a mathematical method that represents efficiently high-speed coastal fishing vessel. That is, it represents the numerical hull by using irrational function and hull form characteristic curves, which define a hull form under design conditions. Then it suggests a process that hull form characteristic curves are represented with NURBS and hull form is varied.

A study about Graph Representation of Function of College freshmen (대학 신입생들의 함수의 그래프 표현에 관한 연구)

  • It is said that the university mathematics education in Korea faces critical situations due to the decreases of both qualities and quantities of students. In this paper we examine college students in order to know their basic ability for understanding about fundamental functions, such as polynomial, trigonometric, logarithm and exponential functions which have learned from highschool mathematics courses. The subject are 354 freshmen of 4 universities located in Daejeon and Chongchung area. The result of this study shows as follows. i ) More than half students are not able to draw graphs of given functions, except polynomial. ii ) More students do not fully understand about function properties such as domain, codomain, range, max and min value, cycle and parallel translation.

  • The objective of this study is to estimate the frequency characteristics of group walking loads based on the information of measured responses. At first, dynamic properties such as natural frequencies and modes are obtained from input/output relation for building structures by heel drop test. Second, a method to estimate group walking loads by the transfer functions from measured responses to group walking loads is proposed. The method turned out to estimate the group walking loads accurately. Higher modes could be important in estimating the amplitude of group walking loads with the information of single walking load.

모바일 임베디드 멀티미디어 시스템에서 효율적인 모션 캡쳐 기반 컴퓨터 애니메이션 제작 패러다임

  • 모션 캡쳐 기반 컴퓨터 애니메이션 제작 기술은 컴퓨터 애니메이션 제작에 매우 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 모션 캡쳐 기반 컴퓨터 애니메이션 제작 기술은 센서를 사용해서 대상체의 운동을 측정하여 운동 렌더링 파라미터를 추출한 후, 이 운동 파라미터를 컴퓨터에 옮겨서 그래픽 툴을 사용하여 애니메이션화 한다. 이러한 일련의 작업이 현재의 데스크 톱 컴퓨터에서는 문제없이 수행될 수 있지만, 모바일 임베디드 시스템에 그대로 적용되기에는 다소 무리가 있다. 왜냐하면, 모바일 임베디드 시스템의 경우, CPU의 계산 능력과 메모리의 크기가 매우 작기 때문에 이에 특화된 방법이 필요하게 된다. 이러한 취지에서 본 논문은 모바일 임베디드 시스템에서 메모리 사용 효율을 높이기 위해서, 추출된 운동 렌더링 파라미터의 데이터량을 줄여서 메모리에 저장하는 방안을 모색한다. 일반적으로 사용되는 영상 압축 기술은 복원 과정이 복잡해서 모바일 임베디드 시스템의 적은 계산력에 무리를 줄 수 있으므로, 가능한 복원 과정도 계산량이 적은 방안을 강구할 필요가 있다. 이와 같은 목적으로 본 논문에서는 추출된 운동 렌더링 파라미터의 프레임 별 변화를 시간 정합 함수로 모델링 하여, 정합 함수의 파라미터를 메모리에 저장하고, 정합 함수의 함수값 계산을 통해 운동 파라미터를 복원해 내는 쉽고 효율적인 방법을 제안한다. 그리고 본 정합 데이터 압축 방식을 사용하여 상용화된 모바일 임베디드 멀티미디어 시스템에서 효율적인 모션 캡쳐 기반 컴퓨터 애니메이션 제작을 시현한다.

Study of Structural Scheme of Basic Mathematics Education in University - Focusing on life and nano-related areas - (대학 기초수학 교육 내용의 구성 방안에 관한 연구 - 생명.나노 관련 분야를 중심으로 -)

  • In order to find the structure and scheme of basic mathematics education in life and nano-related areas in university, I've studied how much the freshmen in those fields in the university know about the graphic expressions for the basic functions(quadratic function, rational function, irrational function, log function and trigonometric function), basic information contained in those graphs and basic high school mathematics. Also, I've examined mathematics used in books for majors related to those areas. The result of the study shows that there is a lack of understanding of the graphic expressions for basic functions, information contained in those graphs and basic high school mathematics. I've also found out that there is a difference in the amount and depth of mathematics used in each major in life and nano-related areas. According to the result of this study, the amount of understanding of freshmen with each major in basic high school mathematics needs to be reflected in structuring basic mathematics education in life and nano-related areas in university, and the amount and dept of content of mathematics should be considered in each major.

A Study on the Design of Mathematics Education Program for Foreign Students Majoring in Natural Science and Engineering at University in Korea (이공계 대학 유학생을 위한 수학교육 프로그램 설계 및 적용)

  • In this study, mathematics education program was developed for the foreign students who entered the science and engineering college of Korea in order to improve their basic competency and to prevent dropouts. It is applied to 5 Chinese students, 4 male students and 1 female student. Three students are majoring in engineering college and two students are majoring in natural science college. Before applying the mathematics education program to foreign students, most students did not draw a graph of the 'irrational function' and the 'exponential function' and did not understand the concept of the 'limit' at all. However, after applying the mathematics program, all foreign students were able to draw graphs of the various function and the limit values were calculated accurately. Through the results of this study, the researcher proposes some of the following. When developing mathematics education programs for foreign students, it is very important to develop teaching materials suitable for their level. Textbook developers need to select and organize contents that are essential for learning in university mathematics and to present mathematical concepts and examples considering the Korean language level of foreign students. Moreover, it will be necessary to try to present mathematical terms commonly used in Korea in their native language or English.

  • 참여의 멱함수 이론은 UCC를 생산, 배포, 소비, 재생산하는 과정에 참여하는 사용자들을 분석하는 유용한 도구이다. 참여의 멱함수 이론을 통해 무리는 집합적 지성과 집단 지성을 구분하고 참여의 형태를 세분화하며 참여자간의 관계 분석할 수 있다. 즉 다양한 기술, 사회, 정치 현상들에 배경 정보가 되어 영향력을 행사하는 UCC는 어떤 이유로 제작되고 어떤 형태로 나누어지며 생산한 사람들 간의 관계 또는 생산자와 생산자 고리고 생산자와 소비자 간의 관계를 설명할 때 설득력들 높인다. UCC가 웹 2.0의 어떤 기술 속에 생산되고 배포되고 소비되는지에 대한 플랫폼의 설계에도 멱함수 법칙은 도움을 주는 도구이다.
