Design for Flight Control System Focused on Reliability (신뢰성 목표를 위한 비행제어 시스템 설계)

  • The reliability of flight control system(FCS) for Unmanned Air Vehicle(UAV) is underestimated because of the design restrictions such as small size, low cost and light weight. However because the failure of FCS may cause the loss of aircraft, the reliability of FCS must be analysed and validated whether it meet the reliability requirements in design phase.In this paper the failure rate of subsystems was divided with its function based on the design experience of FCS. The redundancy models which satisfy the system reliability requirements were suggested. These results may be utilized in the hardware design of FCS.

  • The Advanced First Order Second Moment(AFOSM) method is commonly used to determine partial safety factors in the development of probability based LRFD code. However, design format using load and resistance factors based on this method may result in different reliability levels from specified ones. Reliability-Conditioned(RC) method recently proposed by Ayyub et al. gives partial safety factors which do not affect the target reliability level as specified. However, this method has some numerical difficulties and the procedure is not consistent. The proposed RC/AFOSM combined method has not only numerical consistency, but also results in almost constant partial safety factors with respect to various design conditions, and the resulting reliability levels are very close to specified ones.

  • Electrical door system is one of the most essential items for the successful commercial operation of the railway vehicles. Nowadays, reliability values of electrical door system have a tendency to be included in technical requirements for design and manufacturing of rolling stocks. Manufacturer shall meet the reliability target values of electrical door system which is proposed by railway operator in procurement contract book. Railway operator shall approve the supplier's the reliability target values based on maintenance operation data. Railway operators are in the transition stage from the framework of maintenance interval based on time to the framework of maintenance interval based on distance. In this study, failure rates of the electrical door system currently used in railway vehicles are collected from maintenance field data. Failure rates are analyzed by using Minitab. Several kinds of plan for improving reliability are also suggested. It is necessary to keep studying on reliability prediction methodology, applying it in the field and implementing on improvement of reliability through feedback as well. Further, it will be useful for determining new maintenance policies or changing maintenance intervals for existing railway vehicles.

A Study on the Reliability of S/W during the Developing Stage (소프트웨어 개발단계의 신뢰도에 관한 연구)

  • Many software reliability growth models(SRGM) have been proposed since the software reliability issue was raised in 1972. The technology to estimate and grow the reliability of developing S/W to target value during testing phase were developed using them. Most of these propositions assumed the S/W debugging testing efforts be constant or even did not consider them. A few papers were presented as the software reliability evaluation considering the testing effort was important afterwards. The testing effort forms which have been presented by this kind of papers were exponential, Rayleigh, Weibull, or Logistic functions, and one of these 4 types was used as a testing effort function depending on the S/W developing circumstances. I propose the methology to evaluate the SRGM using least square estimater and maximum likelihood estimater for those 4 functions, and then examine parameters applying actual data adopted from real field test of developing S/W.

Application of Target Reliability Levels for Maintenance of Domestic Natural Gas Pipelines (국내 천연가스배관 유지관리를 위한 목표신뢰도 적용사례)

  • Reliability based design and assessment (RBDA) methodology is one of the newest directions of natural gas pipeline design method. Reliability targets are used to ensure that safety levels are met relevant limit states in the stage of design and maintenance. The target reliability for ultimate limit states such as large leak and rupture were developed using tolerable risk criteria for individual and societal risk. This paper shows the reliability target can be met through the implementation of periodic maintenance measures during the life cycle of the pipelines. The case study involves the calculation of the failure probability due to equipment impact, the calculation of the failure probability due to corrosion, and the estimation the re-inspection interval for domestic natural gas transmission pipelines.

Reliability Analysis and Evaluation of Partial Safety Factors for Sliding of Caisson Breakwaters in Korea (국내 케이슨 방파제의 활동에 대한 신뢰성 해석 및 부분안전계수 산정)

  • In the present study, we evaluated the target reliability indices and partial safety factors for caisson sliding of a vertical breakwater. The average of the reliability indices of existing breakwaters was proposed as the target reliability index for the breakwater of normal safety level. The target reliability indices of high and low safety levels were also proposed based on the analysis of breakwaters in Korea and Japan. The partial safety factors were then proposed for each safety level by averaging the values calculated for 12 breakwater crosssections in Korea. The appropriateness of the proposed partial safety factors was partly verified by showing that the reliability index calculated by using the present partial safety factors is located between those of mild and steep bottom slopes of JPHA(2007). The proposed partial safety factors were inversely used to calculate the caisson width and reliability index of existing breakwaters. While the reliability indices of existing breakwaters designed by the deterministic method show a large variation, those designed by the partial safety factor method show a small variation. This indicates that the partial safety factor method allows a consistent design for given target probability of failure.

  • 용수공급 계획의 수립이나 수자원시설물 운영에서 주어진 목적의 달성여부를 판단하는 기준은 사회적 합의를 바탕으로 한 공개념으로 작용하기 때문에 기준 적용은 매우 신중하게 다루어져야 한다. 이런 기준들은 신규용수공급시설 설계나 기존시설의 경우 이행도를 평가하는 척도가 되며 경제성이나 대안을 결정하는데 이용된다. 또한 이런 기준들은 국가 수자원 정책의 지표가 될 뿐만 아니라 물 공급 서비스를 받는 사람들에게 최소 필요로 하는 물을 어느 수준으로 얼마를 어떻게 공급할 것인가를 약속하는 의미를 갖는다. 이를 위해 우선 검토하여야 할 사항은 용수공급신뢰도 조사를 위한 기본체계를 제공하고 현재 신뢰도가 어떻게 정의되었으며 물 공급관리지표에 맞추어 예상되는 물 수요의 증가를 언제 어떻게 맞출 것인가라는 측면에서 신규시설물을 계획하면서 공급신뢰도에 의한 계획공급량(목표공급량)을 정하였다. 물을 공급받는 수요자는 공급에 대한 신뢰도가 높은 상태를 원하며 자신이 원하는 물을 아무런 장애없이 지속적으로 공급될 수 있는 조건을 전제로 물 공급계약을 체결한다. 이와 같은 신뢰도가 늘 엄격히 지켜지는 것은 아니나 현대 사회에서도 수요와 공급관계에서 지켜져야 할 기준으로 인식되고 있다. 아울러 수자원 기술자들에게 는 최적으로 달성해야할 업무목표가 된다. 그러나 제한된 정보를 이용하여 용수공급의 신뢰도를 정하게 되며 설계치를 초과하는 수문사상의 불확실성 및 수리구조물의 불안정 등으로 물 공급의 위험도는 항시 발생할 수 있다. 또한 인구증가나 새로운 산업입지에 의한 물 수요의 증가는 기존 시설물의 용량을 초과하여 물 공급의 신뢰도를 악화시킬 수 있다. 가장 널리 이용되고 있는 공급신뢰도 개념은 목표한 용수공급량 혹은 수요량을 충족시키느냐 못하느냐의 정도를 발생빈도 확률로 나타내는 것이다. 그러나 신뢰도의 적용에 대한 기준은 국내뿐만 아니라 외국에서도 종종 논란거리가 되고 있다. 또한 한 국가 내에서나 수자원을 개발하는 기관 내에서도 동일 목적의 사업별로 적용기준이 천차만별이다. 본 연구에서는 국내 외 이수안전도에 대한 정의와 적용사례를 분석하고 각각의 기준이나 지표의 장단점을 비교 평가하고자한다. 아울러 도출된 문제점을 바탕으로 개선방향을 제시하고자 하며, 궁극적으로 국내의 이수안전도 기준설정에 대한 종합적 의견을 제시 하고자 한다.

New Approaches for Calibrating Material Factors of Reinforced Concrete Members in Korean Highway Bridge Design Code (Limit State Design) and Reliability Analysis (도로교설계기준(한계상태설계법)의 콘크리트부재 설계를 위한 재료계수 결정법 및 신뢰도 분석)

  • This paper brings up fallacy of material factors specified for the design of concrete members in the current Korean limit state design code for highway bridges, and proposes new material factors based on a robust optimization scheme to overcome the fallacy. It is shown that the current load factors in the code and the proposed material factors lead to a much higher reliability index than the target index. The load factors are adjusted to yield the target reliability index using the inverse reliability analysis. A reliability-based approach following the basic concept of Eurocode is formulated to determine material factors as well as load factors. The load-material factors obtained by the proposed reliability-based approach yield a lower reliability level than the target index. Drawbacks of the basic concept of Eurocode are discussed. It is pointed out that differences in the uncertainties between materials and members may cause the lower reliability index of concrete member than the target.

  • The software reliability have to be improved as one major method to enhance the quality of developed software, and its defect is detected and modified through testing as a direct way to meet the purpose before releasing. Once its reliability grows up to the target and it is released to public. there nay be operational reliability problem. The operational software reliability trend nay be different depending on the condition whether it is universal or dedicated. And its reliability estimation is changed based on the condition if it follows uniform testing efforts or Weibull testing efforts. I study the operational reliability trend of dedicated software, applying two case testing efforts for the released item.

  • 본 논문에서는 소프트웨어의 신뢰도에 대한 정의를 하고, 테스트 시간의 경과와 신뢰도와의 관계, 결함 수정 후 경과되는 시간과 신뢰도와의 관계를 연구한다. 소프트웨어의 비용을 고찰함에 있어서 조건별로 검토하여 비용이 최소로 되는 발행시각을 결정한다. 목표신뢰도 입장에서 발행시각을 결정함에 있어서 개발 후 테스트를 시작하기 전의 신뢰도의 조건에 따른 최적발행시각을 정한다.
