The purposes of this article are to raise the critical issues on both catalogs and cataloging of Korean academic libraries, and to explore the feasible solutions to resolve the issues. To the end the first task is a though examination on both the quality of library catalogs and the work capacity of catalogers, and then it is followed by a careful investigation on the causes of both poor quality of library catalogs and low capacity of cataloging work. Finally suggested is some indigenous solutions to improve the low capacity of cataloging work as well as the poor quality of library catalogs. Discussions on this research are based on both search experiments on library catalogs and field interviews with catalogers of 10 major Korean academic libraries.

The information about eBook cannot be added automatically to library catalog because the eBook Service Provider does not provide enough eBook metadata. Therefore, this paper was developed the eBook library's metadata in order to maintain the compatibility and interoperability analyzed the eBook service provider's metadata, KS X 6100 metadata, Dublin Core, MARC, and TEI Header, and extracted common meradata elements from them. We defined these common metadata elements as a core element and added other elements that uniquely describe eBook characteristics as a detailed adn additional elements for eBook metadata.

This study intends to analyze the meanings and values of shared cataloging in public libraries. Emphasis was on verifying how useful KOLIS-NET is as a tool in order to share bibliographic data and library resources. To the end. this study investigates the recognition and participation of KOLIS-NET in public libraries. Finally suggested is strategies to improve both the poor quality and the poor services. The data needed for discussion were collected by an in-depth interviews with catalogers and a survey with 216 public libraries.

The primary questions addressed by this research are the followings: Have the OPAC interfaces of elementary school libraries been designed user-friendly; What difficulties do OPAC searchers experience in using OPACs; How do they perceive the system after searching it; Finding the answers of those questions the problems of OPAC as a searching tool were grasped and recommendations were suggested in order to improve the system. An experiment was conducted and 35 elementary school students performed 5 searching tasks. The searching behavior of OPAC searchers was analyzed thoroughly. The data of their perceptions about the system was collected through a questionnaire after completing the tasks.

This study was for suggesting the test methods in the revision process of the cataloging rules to understand the problem of draft cataloging rules and to apply the new cataloging rules correctly in libraries instead of collecting the opinions by the traditional seminar and conference in the process of revising KCR, KCR2, KCR3, KCR4. For this study, the literature review and the case study were used as the research methods. The case study was based on the US RDA Test by US RDA Test Coordinating Committee. The evaluation areas of the test were cataloging rules, record creation and system development by reflecting the new cataloging rules, user, and cost. The data for the analysis was the creation of bibliographic records and authority records by librarians, and the question investigations that were the use of institutions, librarians, and users. This study would contribute to revise the cataloging rules in future by analyzing the errors of applying new rules to bibliographic record and by investigating the difficulties of applying rules in completing the bibliographic record. Also, the libraries could be easy to decide to implement the new rules from the creation time of bibliographic record by new rules and the learning curve of new rules.

The purpose of this study is to analyze high school students' understanding and use of the recommended books lists. The survey distributed to high school students in seven high schools located in Seoul, and 311 students responded. Using SPSS 24, the data was analyzed by frequency, binary logistic model, and one-way ANOVA. Results show the followings. First, the meaningful factors affecting students' use of recommended books lists are gender, grade levels, and the degree to which students think recommended books lists include the books that are suitable and interesting. Particularly, the degree to which students think recommended books lists include the suitable books for them is the strong factor affecting students' use of the recommended books lists. Second, male students are less likely to use recommended books lists than female students. Male students consistently are less likely to use the recommended books lists made by school librarians, subject teachers, and reading experts and/or organizations. Third, teacher-librarians believed that the recommended books lists would help students who do not enjoy reading and have difficulties in reading. However, the study finds that students who enjoy reading and read well are more willing to use the recommended books lists made by school librarians, subjects teachers, and reading experts and/or organizations than those who do not. Fourth, students are most willing to use the recommended books lists for college preparation. The findings suggest the further research topics in designing the recommended books lists suitable for high school students and in scaffolding the high school students' use of book information reflected in recommended books lists.

This study first compared and analyzed AACR2(1998 Revision), ISBD(ER), CCM Module 31, OCLC Manual according to chief areas related to cataloging Internet-based electronic journal. Also, it analyzed the fields and characteristics related to it in USMARC. Next, it reviewed the problems of cataloging Internet-based electronic journal and suggested it's improvements. As a result, this study can be used as the basic data to develop KCR and KORMARC format appropriate to cataloging Internet-based electronic journal.

The purpose of this paper is to present core elements of bibliographic records to effective cataloging a variety of information materials such as monographs, non-book materials, serials, and internet resources. At first, AACR2R bibliographic data elements, the minimal level cataloging, and core records proposed by Progrma for Cooperative Cataloging(PCC) in Library of congress are discussed. After that elements of Core Records, dublin Core, KORMARC, and AACR2R are compared. Upon the results, this study suggests mandatory common core elements and optional core elements for cost-effective cataloging to all kinds of documents including internet resources.

단순한 데이터통신을 위한 넷(Net)이 정보 교환의 혁명을 일으켰던 웹(Web)으로 발전하였고, 현재 웹은 신경망 형태의 인터넷 구조를 갖는 그리드(grid)를 향해 발전하고 있다. 정보의 교환 및 분산된 자원을 공유하기 위한 그리드 컴퓨팅은 자원의 발견 뿐 만 아니라, 접근 속도와 제한된 자원의 공유를 비롯한 여러 문제점을 가지고 있다. 특히, 데이터에 대한 접근 속도와 제한적인 데이터 공유 문제를 해결하기 위해 Replica 서비스가 제안되었으나, 이러한 Replica 서비스를 원활하게 지원하기 위해서는 Replica 경로 및 정보들을 목록으로 구성해야만 한다. 현재 그리드 컴퓨팅 분야에서 이러한 목록을 구현하는 것과 동시에 최적의 조건을 찾아가는 기법에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 Replica 서비스를 최적화하기 위한 기존의 연구들을 분석하고 Data Location Service를 이용하여 Replica 서비스를 최적화하는 방법을 제안하였다.

기업의 ESG 활동의 일환으로 탄소중립과 순환경제의 개념을 활용한 기업의 성과를 고객에게 알리기 위하여 고품질의 전과정평가 결과에 대한 요구가 커지고 있다. 이를 위해서 LCI 데이터베이스에 대한 글로벌 요건에 맞는 고품질의 LCI 데이터베이스를 구축하고 관리하는 것이 국가적으로 중요하게 인식되고 있다. 이를 위해 UNEP는 GLAD 플랫폼을 만들었고, EU는 LCDN 플랫폼을 만들어 국제통용성을 고려한 고품질의 LCI 데이터베이스를 관리하려는 노력을 하고 있다. 국내 LCI 데이터베이스는 정부주도로 1999년부터 지속적으로 개발되어 활용되고 있지만, 국제통용성의 측면에서 볼 때, 기업의 생산현황을 반영한 최신의 일차데이터가 부족하고, LCI 데이터베이스에 포함된 목록항목들이 모든 환경영향을 충분히 평가할 수도 없으며, 데이터 정보제공의 형식인 LCI 데이터베이스 포맷이 글로벌 동향을 충분히 반영하지 못하고 있다. 이에 국제통용성을 고려한 국내 LCI 데이터베이스의 개발을 위해 산업을 대표하는 협회 또는 단체를 통해 매년 최신의 일차데이터를 확보하고, 이를 토대로 모든 환경영향을 평가할 수 있는 수준의 목록항목을 포함한 국내 LCI 데이터베이스를 개발하고, 이를 Eco-SPOLD_02 또는 ILCD 등의 최신 LCI 데이터베이스 포맷으로 관리하여야 한다.
