To keep pace with rapidly changing social and technological trends, the Department of Mechanical and System Design Engineering at Hongik University is in the process of updating teaching materials and learning methodologies while evaluating/revising our existing curriculum. In order to be better apprised of the employment needs and student aspirations, we have conducted three separate but related surveys by targeting experienced professionals and managers, alumni working in industries as practising engineers, and our current students. The surveys have furnished us with valuable insights that, we hope, will lead to a new curriculum and learning methods more in tune with needs of our students as well as their future employers. Among other findings, the analysis of the survey responses points towards expansion of integrated laboratory and design experiences, cultivation of improved written and oral communication capabilities involving individual and team efforts, and development of interdisciplinary courses encompassing related fields of engineering as well as emerging fields such as nano and information technologies.

This research aims to propose the necessity of conducting safety education to undergraduates majoring in social welfare studies and suggest a curriculum developing plan founded on social concern over safety along with its importance in the middle of changing welfare environment. I surveyed 12 experts with Delphi method conducted descriptive statistical analysis, and then verified reliability of the irresponses and validity of contents. As a result of the research, the curriculum was named as "Social Welfare and Safety" and proposed to be operated as "a regular course (3credits/3hours․2credits/ 2hours)". In terms of objectives and goals of the curriculum, 9 themes were proposed including "Establishment of safety awareness and necessity of safety management" and "Studying safety management methods depending on different types of facilities". For the curriculum contents, 20 themes were proposed including "Safety management by social workers" and "Countermeasures for safety accidents in social welfare facilities". In order for the new curriculum to be successfully conducted, follow-up studies should be conducted on details regarding operation of the curriculum such as curriculum operation manuals, curriculum guidelines, etc.

This study was conducted to investigate characteristics related to lacquer yield and to evaluate possibility of indirect selection of Rhus verniciflua Stokes. Twenty-four lacquer trees were randomly selected for measuring growth, urushiol content and bark thickness. Urushiol content showed a significant positive correlation with outer bark thickness and secretory canal density at 1% level, and with inner bark thickness at 5% level. Bark thickness and secretory canal density could be used as indicators for high urushiol content within bark and thus for high lacquer yield. Mass selection for high lacquer yield was made based on urushiol content within bark. Sixteen individuals with the highest urushiol content value were selected for breeding. As expected, the selected trees had thicker bark, higher density of secretory canal, better developed secretory canals compare to the non-selected lacquer trees.

The purpose of this study was focused on finding out the effect of "Learning Strategies and Career Development" classes for first year student. To this end, I developed the learning portfolio based instructional method, textbook, learning portfolio, teaching guidebook and teaching materials. For the study, I conducted literature reviews, analysis of domestic and international best practices, expert advices and survey researches. This study implemented on 3,200 freshman and 72 professors of A university that is located at Gyungbuk. The results of applying research findings show that learning portfolio based instruction in "Learning Strategies and Career Development" classes is useful to improve first year students' competency of learning strategies and career search. And instructors can use the learning portfolio, teaching guidebook and teaching materials, therefore they are satisfied with the materials.

Faecal analysis was carried out to identify the diet composition of Eptesicus serotinus after collecting the faeces from 25 female bats. Five bats were captured at a bridge where a colony of E. serotinous was found in Andong city, Gyeongbuk, every month from May to September 2014. A total of 100 faeces were collected and the parts of insects obtained from the faeces were examined using a high-resolution microscope (50 ${\times}$ binocular microscope) and then the orders of the insects were identified by the characteristics of the parts of the insect (mouthpart, leg, wing, antenna, elytra, etc.). According to the results of the faecal analysis, 4 orders: Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Diptera and Hemiptera were used as food resource of E. serotinus. Coleoptera was found in May, July, August, and September. Interestingly, only Coleoptera were found in May and July. Hemiptera, Diptera, and Hymenoptera were found to be used as food resources in September, June, and August.

This study was aimed to investigate the effects of neck extensor vibration stimulation on neglect and balance of stroke patients. Patients diagnosed with stroke were selected according to select the study target, 10 patients with experimental group with traditional occupational therapy and neck extensor vibration, and 10 patients with control group with traditional occupational therapy and neglect therapy for 30 minutes per each session 5 times a week for total 8 weeks. As a result of the study, comparison of two groups after the intervention showed that the experimental group had a more significant on the neglect and balance than the control group(p<.05). These result demonstrate that neck extensor vibration stimulation for the effective of neglect and balance in stroke patients, therefore is expected to be useful in rehabilitative therapy.

In this paper, the needs and environment of the 'AI Convergence Education Method' were analyzed for elementary and secondary teachers, and based on this, teaching efficacy of informatics education was verified. For the research, elementary and secondary teachers who take the subject were selected, and based on the results of analyzing the general characteristics, pre-knowledge level, and needs of the subject, curriculum for 15 weeks was developed. As a result of verifying the teaching efficacy effectiveness of the developed 'AI Convergence Education Method' subject for 15 weeks, the effectiveness of the information education teaching efficacy was verified. Among the factors, there were statistically significant differences in information teaching values and information teaching strategies. In the future, it is necessary to conduct follow-up research to secure teachers' professionalism, such as linking with schools and convergence with other subjects. Various teaching and learning materials and teaching and learning methods such as educational contents and materials, reference literature, and artificial intelligence education platforms need to be prepared.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects on academic achievement for university basic mathematics in order to improve the problem-solving abilities of low achievement students in university general mathematics. In this paper, we suggest effective management strategies and teaching-learning methods according to level-based classes with utilizing scholastic level assessment, students survey, Mathematics Cafe and tutorial program, and also managing demonstration classes which are using Webwork system for assignments and evaluating the class.

This paper develops a course named $\ulcorner$Academic Itnernship Program$\lrcorner$ that is designed to be offered jointly by the Statistics department and the Mathematics department. Our aim of developing the course is as follows. This program enhance students' academic and career goals. This program provides students with opportunities to apply classroom theory to real world situations. Students learn a practical theory that is actually used in the real industry.
