  • This study is intended to promote local woodcraft industry with revitalization of local festival in Inje-county. To do so, we propose the travel souvenir design with local identity and the plan for production and marketing based on the management of 'Design Hospital' and the building of production method through 'laser wood inlaying technique like puzzle style'. Research method is benchmarking analysis of successful cases of travel souvenir which is developed for cultural contents of local festival. The result of this study is the following. First, design outsourcing is done one of support in industry focused on old boy network, Through it, Special brain of design can be supplied without compensation. Also the difficulty of manpower problem is lessened and the ability of product development in short term can be guaranteed. On the basis of this, we are able to apply Mass Customization production by up to date digital production method. This enables us to maintain the production flexibility of cultural goods fit for the traits of local festival. This study is intended to present the best model guananteeing both profit of wood technological industry and the possibility of local cultural.

  • This study started from the need to improve one of shortcomings of synthetic PVAc adhesives - potential physical harm and environmental hazards to the workers or their users. As a matter of fact, PVAc adhesives are currently mainly used because of their convenience and economy for the production of woodcrafts. The purpose of this study was to develop natural adhesives through research on natural adhesives in step with the current increase of societal attention to environmental friendliness and rapid surge in their demand in the face of such problems. So, the study attempted research on the bases to develop natural adhesives for woodcraft, using cellulose extracts from wood - natural adhesive material. The findings of the study were as follows. Firstly, natural adhesives showed the improved effect in the field of adhesive strength, a basic physical property by 0.2 - 4 times compared with the existing materials and the study confirmed they had the similar or stable pH value. Besides, they had good reversibility, demonstrating their basic physical property as a natural adhesive for woodcraft. While, their durability to ultraviolet ray degradation also showed an excellent result value being better by 1.5 - 8.5 times than the existing materials. The study expects natural adhesives with improved and better performances compared with the existing materials could be developed, if further research on adhesive strength, antibiosis, conservative property were to continue by developing refinery technology for cellulose extracts from wood and rendering the functionality to them.

  • This paper researched the woodcraft in the Baekje kingdom since the study on the Baekje furniture has not been established due to the absence of the artifacts or remains related to the furniture in the Baekje period. Accordingly, the study focused on the excavated Baekje wooden products and wood crafts on the basis of ancient documents and investigated the ancient documents supposedly related to the Baekje furniture: The Chronicles of the Three States and Japan Scribe. As the result of the study, it could be summarized as follows. First of all, the woodcraft materials were wood, whagak, ivory, silver, gold and they were domestic or imported. Secondly, the woodcraft was finished naturally or lacquered with black or red color or varnishing with lacquer. Thirdly, the kinds of furniture used in the Baekje were a desk, a small portable dinning table, a table and folding stool. Even though there has been no heritage of the Baekje furniture and woodcraft and it is difficult to explain the characteristics or give an example of the Baekje furniture in detail, this study seems to be significant now that it researched the documents and related artifacts or remains which could give some hints or hypothesis of the furniture and woodcraft in the Baekje. What is more, there have been no sound studies on the Baekje furniture.

  • It IS of great significance that russian artists created their own avant- gard arts, based on russian traditional culture comprehending new artistic trend from the Western Europe. After ttle Russian Revolution, russian artists participated voluntarily to the change of sOCIety. They were heading for the reach of socia 1st's utopia in the field of culture (painting, movie, architecture, play etc) Therefore , new socialist's society needed artistic Institution like the Vchutemas. The aim of thiS school IS to prepare highly educated artists to Instruct and direct In professional and technic education. RUSSian avant-gard artists gave lessons about the new didactics of the Vchutemas on the principals of ConstructiVism and Functlonlsm. They Influenced the Bauhaus school and western european designs.

  • In an effort to evaluate the qualities of the unused woods designed for art materials, Yellow pine, Pitch pine, Suwon poplar, Platanus and Cherry grown in Korea has been investigated in the study. Physical and mechanical properties such as density, hardness, roughness, and abrasion of the woods were examined. Among the five species, Cherry wood showed the highest density in green, air-dried and oven-dried conditions. Hardness of Cherry wood was higher than those of Suwon poplar and Platanus. In softwoods, Pitch pine showed greater hardness than Yellow pine. Yellow pine and Platanus had the highest values of wood surface roughness. Abrasion value of cross, radial and tangential sections was the highest in Yellow pine and Suwon poplar. It has been concluded from the experiment that physical and mechanical properties such as density, hardness, roughness, and abrasion of the woods can be used as an indicator of the suitability for woodcraft material.

  • In this study, the characteristics of natural and synthetic adhesives used in woodcraft were evaluated. The pattern of deterioration of wood and adhesives according to changes in temperature and humidity were compared. For materials, one type of anlmal glue, three kinds of polyvinyl acetate adhesives, one type of epoxy adhesive and one type of zelkova wood were selected. Characteristics of physical and chemical characteristics, weather resistance and drying speed assessment were carried out. The adhesion characteristic evaluation showed that the adhesion strength of anlmal glue and one type of polyvinyl acetate adhesive were 6.54 N/㎟ and 7.01 N/㎟, pH meter of anlmal glue and polyvinyl acetate adhesives was pH 7.03 and pH 3.32-3.59 which were range of available as an adhesive. According to the test results of weather resistance, epoxy adhesives had the highest decreasing value in adhesion strength after deterioration. In the reversible test of the adhesive, it was found to be highly reversible in NaOH, a soluble solvent excluding epoxy, but attention is required when using the wood since it may show discoloration during processing.
