Interaction Technique in Smoke Simulations using Mouth-Wind on Mobile Devices (모바일 디바이스에서 사용자의 입 바람을 이용한 연기 시뮬레이션의 상호작용 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a real-time interaction method using user's mouth wind in mobile device. In mobile and virtual reality, user interaction technology is important, but various user interface methods is still lacking. Most of the interaction technologies are hand touch screen touch or motion recognition. In this study, we propose an interface technology that can interact with real time using user's mouth wind. The direction of the wind is determined by using the angle and the position between the user and the mobile device, and the size of the wind is calculated by using the magnitude of user's mouth wind. To show the superiority of the proposed technique, we show the result of visualizing the flow of the vector field in real time by integrating the mouth-wind interface into the Navier-Stokes equations. We show the results of the paper on mobile devices, but can be applied in the Agumented reality(AR) and Virtual reality(VR) fields requiring interface technology.

A Mobile Landmarks Guide : Outdoor Augmented Reality based on LOD and Contextual Device (모바일 랜드마크 가이드 : LOD와 문맥적 장치 기반의 실외 증강현실)

  • In recent years, mobile phone has experienced an extremely fast evolution. It is equipped with high-quality color displays, high resolution cameras, and real-time accelerated 3D graphics. In addition, some other features are includes GPS sensor and Digital Compass, etc. This evolution advent significantly helps the application developers to use the power of smart-phones, to create a rich environment that offers a wide range of services and exciting possibilities. To date mobile AR in outdoor research there are many popular location-based AR services, such Layar and Wikitude. These systems have big limitation the AR contents hardly overlaid on the real target. Another research is context-based AR services using image recognition and tracking. The AR contents are precisely overlaid on the real target. But the real-time performance is restricted by the retrieval time and hardly implement in large scale area. In our work, we exploit to combine advantages of location-based AR with context-based AR. The system can easily find out surrounding landmarks first and then do the recognition and tracking with them. The proposed system mainly consists of two major parts-landmark browsing module and annotation module. In landmark browsing module, user can view an augmented virtual information (information media), such as text, picture and video on their smart-phone viewfinder, when they pointing out their smart-phone to a certain building or landmark. For this, landmark recognition technique is applied in this work. SURF point-based features are used in the matching process due to their robustness. To ensure the image retrieval and matching processes is fast enough for real time tracking, we exploit the contextual device (GPS and digital compass) information. This is necessary to select the nearest and pointed orientation landmarks from the database. The queried image is only matched with this selected data. Therefore, the speed for matching will be significantly increased. Secondly is the annotation module. Instead of viewing only the augmented information media, user can create virtual annotation based on linked data. Having to know a full knowledge about the landmark, are not necessary required. They can simply look for the appropriate topic by searching it with a keyword in linked data. With this, it helps the system to find out target URI in order to generate correct AR contents. On the other hand, in order to recognize target landmarks, images of selected building or landmark are captured from different angle and distance. This procedure looks like a similar processing of building a connection between the real building and the virtual information existed in the Linked Open Data. In our experiments, search range in the database is reduced by clustering images into groups according to their coordinates. A Grid-base clustering method and user location information are used to restrict the retrieval range. Comparing the existed research using cluster and GPS information the retrieval time is around 70~80ms. Experiment results show our approach the retrieval time reduces to around 18~20ms in average. Therefore the totally processing time is reduced from 490~540ms to 438~480ms. The performance improvement will be more obvious when the database growing. It demonstrates the proposed system is efficient and robust in many cases.

  • The commemorative AR postage stamps which are the world first presented at The YEOSU EXPO 2012 has had meaning of communicating with future in this present from a convergence that the most analog medium is using now and that the AR is cutting edge of digital technology. The AR stamps printed 10 kind out of 33 commemorative stamps. These have great significance that is artistic value than that is world first. The applied AR images are not only expressed 3D real images but also artic represented and signifying each stamp images from visualized creativity process, and build 'new art space' that is new concept between on real(analog) and virtual(digital). This study analyzes meaning of images and then makes concept of AR contents design. The processing is designed and considered the meaning of architectures and environments, and the regional specific feature of the Yeosu with surrealistic graphic concept. The 10 of deducted images were expressed after AR coding such as visual arts. This study realized markerless 3D image tracking AR stamps and deducted research result are; the first, it was able to figure out how to realize AR in the process of registering the reference images, coordinating transformation, and hybriding AR on the stamps for the mobile devices. The second, it was able to be seeked a possibility of new virtual exhibition space. The third, it was able to know possibility of satisfaction of immersing with visual formativeness and usability with informativity.

Implementation of Contents System using Color Marker in Mobile AR (모바일 증강현실에서 컬러마커를 이용한 콘텐츠시스템 구현)

  • Black marker cause unnatural problems between the existing various contents and marker. To solve this problem, we tested frequency of 3D objects according to the various colors and color placement. Based on this, infant's learning content system based NyARToolkit for the mobile-based augmented reality was implemented. By insert to color marker, We are solved the unnatural problems in the Implemented system. and infant can study seamlessly because concentration increases by the familiar character on the markers.

  • 문화유산이 많은 지역의 경우 관광산업이 지역경제에서 차지하는 비중이 크기 때문에 문화유산을 활용한 지역관광 활성화가 중요한 이슈 중 하나이다. 본 논문은 관광객 유도를 위해 문화유산을 활용한 체험형 콘텐츠를 제공하여 관광 경험을 향상할 필요가 있어 모바일 증강현실을 기반으로 한 역사탐방 게임 플랫폼을 제안한다. 제안하는 플랫폼은 고대 백제의 왕도였던 부여를 배경으로 증강현실로 구현된 역사 속 인물과 만나며 문제를 해결해나가는 방식의 게임 플랫폼으로, 관광객에게 디지털 경험을 제공하여 문화유산의 가치 재발견과 지역관광 활성화를 꾀하고자 한다.

  • VR/AR(가상현실/증강현실) 디바이스 기술 진보가 가속화되고 관련 시장이 확대되면서 메타버스 플랫폼이 최근 많은 주목을 받고 있다. 하지만 새로운 플랫폼 개발에도 불구하고 사용자를 인증하는 방식은 기존의 PC와 모바일 플랫폼의 인증방식을 따라가고 있다. 본 논문에서 우리는 메타버스에서 기존 PC/모바일 인증 방식을 그대로 적용했을 때 발생할 수 있는 문제점을 제기하고, 모션캡처를 이용하여 사용자의 모션을 입력 받아 메타버스플랫폼에서 활용할 수 있는 사용자 인증방식을 제안한다.

  • 최근 증강현실(AR), 가상현실(VR), 혼합현실(XR) 분야가 각광받고 있으며, 3차원 공간과 사물을 인식하여 다양한 콘텐츠 서비스를 제공하는 기술이 개발되고 있다[1]. 3차원 공간과 사물을 인식하기 위해 가장 널리 사용되는 방법은 RGB 카메라를 이용하는 것이다[2]. RGB 카메라를 이용하여 촬영한 영상을 분석한 후 분석된 결과를 이용하여 카메라와 환경의 관계를 추정한다. 시차는 사용자가 촬영한 복수의 이미지에서 특징점의 차이를 이용하여 계산된다. 실험적으로 구한 깊이에 대해 계산된 디스패리티에 시차 정보와 스케일링 정보를 더하여 3차원 특징점을 생성한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 단일 모바일 디바이스에서 획득한 영상을 사용한다. 특징점 매칭을 기반으로한 디스패리티 추정과 시차조정 3D 특징점 생성이다. 실제 깊이 값과 비교했을 때, 생성된 3차원 특징점은 실측값의 10% 이내의 오차가 있음을 실험적으로 증명하였다. 따라서 제안하는 방법을 이용하여 유효한 3차원 특징점을 생성할 수 있다.

  • 본 논문은 최근 스마트폰과 Social Network Service(SNS)의 활성화에 따라 이슈화되는 SNS 서비스 기술들과 최신 표준화 동향을 살펴본다. 먼저 SNS 서비스의 근간이 되는 스마트폰과 모바일 OS 기술을 포함하여 위치기반 서비스(LBS) 기술, 증강현실(AR) 기술들과 다양한 웹(WWW) 기술들을 살펴보고 또한 서비스 사업자별로 다양하게 제공되는 소셜 플랫폼 기술을 통하여 현재 SNS 서비스의 기술현황을 파악한 후 보다 향상된 서비스 제공을 위해서 진행 중인 기관 및 단체별 SNS 표준화 동향에 대해서 살펴본다.

  • Although wireless devices ar the most suitable for ubiquitous environment, they have restrictive capacities when using internet services than desktop environment. Considering different system features of mobile devices such as small display and limited input capability, an alternative scheme to access the Web efficiently is required. In the paper, we propose a mobile service method of S&T information content to support ubiquitous environment though the case study of KISTI's Scent of Science content service based on mobile.
