  • In order to enhance the productivity of mobile and develop reliable software, the test of mobile application software should be required absolutely. The most important way to communicate to users has been used to GUI. But GUI test method in mobile has no the test automation system except manual test by checklist. In this paper we present a test method and tool by image flow to reduce the time required and finds out errors to GUI, by carrying out the study on automatic GUI testing tool based on image flow to GUI test of mobile application.

  • 모바일의 소프트웨어 GUI 테스팅은 매우 중요하다. 그러나 모바일 특성상 일반 어플리케이션과 달리 많은 제약사항이 따르며 빠른 출시 등의 이유로 테스팅을 소홀히 하고 있다. 현재 대부분의 기업에서 GUI 테스트는 프로그래머가 매뉴얼대로 검사하는 수동적 방식을 사용하고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 GUI 테스트를 자동화 하는 방법 제시 및 도구를 구현 함으로써 좀더 편리하게 GUI 테스트를 할 수 있도록 하고자 한다.

  • Recently, the most mobile application software developers are being faced by short developing time (fast time-to-market), various requirements and requirement changes. In order to overcome the environment, developer should support user friendly GUI and assure the quality from the early developing process using GUI test method. This paper proposes a test method and tool for mobile software GUI, which reduces test time and supports comfortable test environment by user oriented UI design. We implemented a tool based on test scenarios based image flow for high testing accuracy and test case reusability. And the results show the characteristics of the method compared to the existing tools.

Study on Impact of GUI Design Elements of Mobile Phone on Brand Preference With focus on senior citizens (모바일 폰의 GUI 디자인의 구성요소가 브랜드 선호도에 미치는 영향 실버세대를 중심으로)

  • This study has established the GUI design elements of mobile phones as color, text, layout, graphic icon, and video, under the purpose of exploring the relevance between such elements and brand preference among senior citizens. To accomplish the objective, a model and hypotheses were established, which were tested through a multiple regression analysis. The findings are as follows. First, when the statistical significance was examined by GUI design element of mobile phones, the following results were obtained: Color, text, layout, graphic icon, and video were statistically significant at the significance level given, indicating that such elements all affect brand preference. Second, the relative influence of GUI design elements of mobile phones on brand preference was revealed in the following order: text, color, video, graphic icon, layout. It indicates that boosting the brand preference of senior citizens for mobile phones requires considering 'text' and 'color' first before any other element. In addition, as the influence of 'text' and 'color' becomes greater, the brand preference also becomes higher.

  • Graphic User Interface(GUI) of mobile application is the working environment exchanging informations and almost functions on mobile are operated by it. In order to increase the productivity and to develop reliable mobile software, GUI test is absolutely needed. In this paper, we introduce the scenario based GUI test method and automatic tool(MoGuT). The MoGuT can detect the functional faults using scenarios and operate in SKVM environment.

  • 모바일 어플리케이션 소프트웨어의 GUI는 눈으로 보고 교감하는 것에 끝나지 않고 나날이 발전하여 소프트웨어의 성공여부를 결정하는 경우로 많이 부각되고 있다. 소프트웨어의 성공에 중요한 요소로 자리 잡히고 있으므로 소프트웨어의 성공을 위한 GUI 테스트가 요구되나 GUI 테스트는 많은 노력과 시간이 투자되는 테스트 분야이다. 이러한 자원의 소비의 줄이기 위해서 GUI 테스트의 자동화가 필요하리라 본다.

Proposal of GUI Guidelines to Improve the Usability of Mobile Healthcare for New Silver Generation (뉴실버세대의 모바일 헬스케어 사용성을 높이기 위한 GUI 가이드라인 제안)

  • Recently with the entrance to the aging society, the demand on health care services is being increased. However, there are still few GUI types of research considering the characteristics of new-silver generation progressively preparing for their golden(old) age. As the new-silver generation showed less reluctance to the information acquired through the Internet comparing to general seniors, but it is urgent to conduct researches about GUI of mobile healthcare services considering their physical, psychological and social characteristics. Hence, the purpose of this study was to propose some guidelines of GUI evaluation so that new-silver generation being emerged as main consumer group in future medical consumption could efficiently use mobile health care services. As the research methods, first, this study analyzed the characteristics of new-silver generation through reviewing literature and previous studies and understood the status quo of mobile health care services, and second, it analyzed the visual composition factors being preferred in each field of current mobile healthcare application and drew out a usability evaluation matrix of mobile GUI design appropriate for elderly people's characteristics. Third, with the drawn evaluation matrix, this study conducted the usability evaluation of 8 subjects in new-silver generation ranging from 57 years old to 65 years old through a heuristic way. This study expects that it would be contributed in increasing the GUI usability by proposing some guidelines for GUI being appropriated for new-silver generation user's characteristics, and thinks that researches about developing health-care mobile applications will be continued in future at the same time.

  • 모바일 어플리케이션 소프트웨어의 시장은 여러 소프트웨어 시장 중 가장 많은 어플리케이션 소프트웨어를 출시하고 있으며 모바일 어플리케이션에서 가장 중요한 사용자와의 정보 교환 수단으로는 GUI가 있다. 현재까지의 모바일 어플리케이션에서의 GUI 테스트 방법으로는 테스터가 한단계, 한단계 버튼을 눌러가며 화면을 체크하는 원시적인 방법의 테스트가 이루어지고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 모바일 상에서 이루어지는 정적 화면 전환의 경우 테스트 수행 결과를 플로우 챠트 기반으로 표시함으로써 GUI를 테스트 하는 방법을 제시하고 테스트 커버리지 까지 측정할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다.

A Study on 3D Object and GUI Representation Based on MPEG-4 BIFS for Mobile TV (MPEG-4 BIFS 기반 모바일 방송 환경에서 3D 객체 및 GUI 표현 기술 연구)

  • Despite the fact that the mobile environment has favorable conditions for using data contents, it is not easy to implement enhanced data services for mobile broadcasting based on MPEG-4 BIFS. With a structure inherited from VRML, BIFS targets different types of content with a development approach that is not very compatible with broadcasting contents. Furthermore, it is not easy to implement BIFS because the standard is too complicated for the mobile broadcasting environment. Accordingly, this study proposes an enhanced mobile TV contents model that provides interactive 3D objects and GUI for the viewers to interact with the broadcasting contents. By applying the model to the DMB environment, this study suggests a direction for future developments of mobile broadcasting contents. In order to represent 3D graphics on mobile TV, we analyzed MPEG-BIFS 3D nodes and composed a subset of VRML profile, and defined new nodes that can efficiently represent GUI at the content development level. If this study helps facilitate expression of 3D graphics and interactions in data contents composition, enhanced efficiency of contents development is expected to promote the development of various contents suitable for the mobile broadcasting environment.

  • Given the attributes of mobile apps that shorten the time to make purchase decisions while enabling easy purchase cancellations, usability can be regarded to be a highly prioritized quality attribute among the diverse quality attributes that must be provided by mobile apps. With that backdrop, mobile app developers have been making great effort to minimize usability hampering elements that degrade the merchantability of apps in many ways. Most elements that hamper the convenience in use of mobile apps stem from those potential errors that occur when GUIs are designed. In our previous study, we have proposed a technique to analyze the usability of mobile apps using user behavior logs. We proposes a technique to detect usability hampering elements lying dormant in mobile apps' GUI models by expressing user behavior logs with finite state models, combining user behavior models extracted from multiple users, and comparing the combined user behavior model with the expected behavior model on which the designer's intention is reflected. In addition, to reduce the burden of the repeated test operations that have been conducted by existing developers to detect usability errors, the present paper also proposes a mobile usability error detection automation tool that enables automatic application of the proposed technique. The utility of the proposed technique and tool is being discussed through comparison between the GUI issue reports presented by actual open source app developers and the symptoms detected by the proposed technique.
