  • Recently, network model inspired by social insect behavior attracts the public attention. The AntNet is an adaptive and distributed routing algorithm using mobile agents, called ants, that mimic the activities of social insect. In this paper. we present a new hardware architecture to realize an AntNet-based routing in practical system on a chip application. The modified AntNet algorithm for hardware implementation is compared with the original algorithm on the various traffic patterns and topologies. Implementation results show that the proposed architecture is suitable and efficient to realize adaptive routing based on the AntNet.

  • In the focusing on the important of wireless internet, mobile terminal device plays a central role in tracking and coordinating terms in mobile business processing. Especially, mobile device has been considered as a key technology for embedded software and ubiquitous era. Because existing web environments is moving to wireless internet, the new concepts for wireless internet computing environments has gained increasing interest. Mobile agents provide a new abstraction for deploying over the existing infrastructures. Mobile application systems require the flexibility, adaptability, extensibility, and autonomous. New software developments methodology is required to meet the requirements. In this paper, we present an agent architectures model that allows compassable components with pluggable and independable. Our approach involves wrapping components inside a servlet. We have used the model and components to develop the PDA mobile agent.

  • We design and implement explicit mobile multicast, named XMIP, by enhancing explicit multicast for a great number of small group multicast communications. XMIP is a straightforward multicast mechanism without maintaining multicast states due to the inheritance from the explicit multicast based on a unicast routing. This research modifies and extends the functionality of each mobility agent of IETF Mobile IP for interworking XMIP XMIP Packets captured by an extended home agent are forwarded to each extended foreign agent through nested tunnels, named X-in-X tunnels, made by the binding table of the extended home agent. X-in-X tunneling mechanism can effectively solve the serious traffic concentration problems of Mobile IP multicast specifications. Finally heterogeneous mobile networks as an XMIP testbed including CDMA2000 1X EV-DO and WLAN are actually established, and a multi-user instant messenger system for small group communications is developed for verifying the feasibility of the proposed protocols.

  • In Hierarchical Mobile Ipv6 (HMIPv6) networks, the mobility anchor point (MAP) handles binding update (BU) procedures locally to reduce signaling overhead for mobility. However, as the number of mobile nodes (MNs) handled by the MAP increases, the MAP suffers from the overhead not only to handle signaling traffic but also to Process data tunneling traffic. Therefore, it is important to control the number of MNs serviced by the MAP, in order to mitigate the burden of the MAP. We propose an adaptive load control scheme, which consists of two sub-algorithms: threshold-based admission control algorithm and session-to-mobility ratio (SMR) based replacement algorithm. When the number of MNs at a MAP reaches to the full capacity, the MAP replaces an existing MN at the MAP, whose SMR is high, with an MN that just requests binding update. The replaced MN is redirected to its home agent. We analyze the proposed load control scheme using the .Markov chain model in terms of the new MN and the ongoing MN blocking probabilities. Numerical results indicate that the above probabilities are lowered significantly compared to the threshold-based admission control alone.

  • The mobile sink is most suitable to guarantee the real time processing to events in ubiquitous environment. However it brings many challenges to wireless sensor networks. In particular, the question of how to transfer the collected data to the mobile sink is an important topic in the aspect of effective management of wireless sensor nodes. In this paper, a new data dissemination model is proposed. Since this method uses the home agent and the access node concepts, it provides reliable and efficient data delivery to mobile sink with minimum overhead. In this proposed method, the information of the mobile sink which is constantly moving is informed only to the home agent node and the access node, instead of all sensor nodes. Thus, the collected data from sensor nodes are transferred to the fixed home agent and it sends these data to the mobile sink. Since the confliction phenomenon between data packets in wireless networks could be reduced, the success ratio of data arriving in the mobile sink is highly enhanced. In our experiments, the proposed method reduces the number of broadcast packets so that it saves the amount of energy consumed for transmitting and receiving the data packets. This effect contributes to prolong the lifetime of the wireless sensor networks operated by batteries.
