Improvement of DeNOx efficiency of SNCR Process with Chemical Additives in Urea Soution (환원제로 우레아를 사용하는 SNCR 공정에서 첨가제 적용에 따른 탈질효율 향상 연구)

  • Dye waste water generated in the dye industry is categorized as hazardous waste water that requires appropriate treatment. The pilot scale experimental trials were carried out using dye waste water as an effective additive for the selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) of NOx in combustion flue gases. The additives were waste liquor obtained from the dye industry and several purification steps were taken to make a standardized reagents. The dye waste water was shown to possess valuable SNCR qualities (at least 87% NOx reduction efficiency) considering its availability as a waste product, which has to be strictly treated, and have little effects on CO removal. The results indicated that the NO removal efficiency increased first and then decreased with increasing temperature within $750-1150^{\circ}C$. The maximum NO reduction efficiency was approximately 87% at the optimal reaction temperature. A more than 10% increase in NO reduction was achieved in the presence of 1000 ppm Na-additives (dye waste water) compared to that without additives. The Na-based additives have also a significant promoting effect on $N_2O$ reduction and within the SNCR temperature window.

Performance Evaluation of Surface Textures on Concrete Pavement (콘크리트 거친면 마무리처리에 따른 공용성 평가)

  • This study tries to propose the most effective pavement texture method through the performance evaluation of variable texture methods. Noise 2$\sim$3dB is reduced in the section of uniform space 18m longitudinal tinning. This result is proved by comparing the magnitude of noise in two sections. The noise of 26mm longitudinal firming section is greater than that of 18mm section by 2$\sim$3dB(A). The skid resistances measured in all test section show the reasonable results. The roughness or all the test sections satisfies AASHTO roughness standard (PrI 16cm/km). The result or questionnaire survey about driving quality shows that the longitudinal tinning is the most effective method. As the result of a visual measurement, it is proved that the section applied uniform space 26mm longitudinal tinning and the general section applied uniform space 26mm transverse tinning could drain water effectively. As the result of analysis with the ranking method, the 18mm longitudinal tinning in selected as one of the most effective tinning methods. In addition, 26mm longitudinal tinning, random space transverse tinning, and transverse drag are selected in order.

  • The aim of this study was to obtain information about two early-20th Century clothes, for which the "National Memorial Museum of Forced Mobilization under Japanese Occupation" has sought to receive preservation treatment. Optical microscopes and a scanning electron microscope were used to investigate the weaving of the clothes, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) was used to investigate the fibers. Cloth A is believed to be a Japanese half sleeved inner wear(Hanjuban) used by women. Cloth B is believed to be working clothing that was checked by an Osaka plant. This was verified by a book written by the Japanese army. Both of the clothes were made mostly from cotton, although the inner wear also used viscose rayon on the neck collar. The button on the working wear was made of urea formaldehyde resin, an early precursor to plastic.

Case Study on the Type of Subsidence using Seismic Refraction Survey (탄성파 굴절법을 사용한 지반침하 형태분석 적용사례)

  • Seismic refraction survey was performed for 10 lines along NE-SW and NW-SE directions above Nampoong gallery at Makyo-ri, Dogye, Samcheok, Kangwon-do. 48 geophones were laid in line with the interval of 1m, and a 5Kg hammer was used as a source at 5 points for each line. Data processing was done using reciprocal time method, GRM, and traveltime tomography which utilizes wavefront expansion method for forward process and STRT for inversion. The result shows that the first layer has its lower boundary between 3.49m and 8.88m. The P-wave velocity of the first and the second layer were estimated as 270${\~}$360m/s and 1550${\~}$1940m/s respectively. When the boundary of the first and second layer is smooth enough and the velocity difference is large enough, GRM has little advantage over reciprocal time method. The result of reciprocal method and traveltime tomography shows consistency. The northeast part of the boundary has syncline structure, which is similar to the topography above. This implies that the collapse of the cavities of Nampoong gallery result in the subsidence of the ground surface. The subsidence is in progress across the Youngdong railroad, therefore a proper reinforcement work is required.

  • 국내 염색가공업에 종사하는 중소기업은 약 1,700여개 업체로써, 평균 50억/년 매출을 하고 있으며, 생산의 대부분을 임가공에만 의존하고 있는 실정이다. 이들 염색가공업체들은 섬유제품의 품질 향상 등을 위해 전처리, 염색, 가공이라는 섬유습식공정을 행하게 되는데 그 공정이 따로 분리되어 있어 임가공 업체 입장에서는 시간과 비용 차원에서 비효율적인 면이 존재하여 왔다. 따라서 공정합리화, 원가합리화를 위해 따로 분리되어 있는 위 공정을 통합하려는 시도를 많이 했지만 전처리/염색 공정의 통합에서 일부 성과가 있었을 뿐 효과면에서는 아직 미흡한 실정이다. 또한 가공이란 공정은 그사용 약제의 특수성에 따라 기존 Padding-Drying-Curing이라는 3 step process를 반드시 필요로 하고 있기 때문에 가공 공정의 통합은 시도조차 이루어지지 않고 있는 것이 현실이다. 따라서 염색공정과 가공공정의 통합을 시도하기 위해서는 관련 약제 개발이 출발이라 할 수 있으며 그 첫 대상은 염색 공정의 소핑과 가공공정의 유연처리를 동시에 행할 수 있는 소핑유연제로 선정하려 한다. 즉 셀룰로오스계 섬유의 반응성 염색 후 소핑 공정에서 일액형 소핑유연제, 한가지 제품만을 간편하게 사용해도 소핑효과와 유연효과를 동시에 얻어 후속 유연처리 공정을 생략할 수 있는 것이다. 그렇게 되면 시간적으로나 비용적으로 큰 절감 효과를 가져와 임가공 업체의 부담을 덜어 줄 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 공정 통합을 통해 배출되는 폐수의 양도 상당량 감소시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 본 연구 결과, 폴리옥시에틸렌 트리데실 에테르 타입의 계면활성제와 개질된 디메틸폴리실록산 계열의 실리콘 오일, 그리고 이들의 상용성을 확보하기 위한 특수 용제 및 첨가제를 최적의 비율로 배합하여 안정한 일액형 복합 소핑유연제를 제조할 수 있었다. 제조된 소핑유연제는 유백색 반투명 액상의 외관을 가지며 pH(10%solution)는 $7{\pm}1$, 고형분은 $13.5{\pm}0.5%$이었다. 이 소핑유연제의 성능 평가결과, 소핑력은 기존의 소핑제와 동등 수준으로 세탁견뢰도 4급이상의 성능을 보였고, 유연성 면에서도 기존의 유연제와 동등 수준으로 평가되었다. 이로써 기존의 분리된 소핑 공정과 유연공정을 개발된 제품을 이용하여 통합할 수 있어 염색현장의 비용절감, 공정단축의 효과를 기대할 수 있게 되었다.

The Case of Industrial Factory Wastewater Treatment and Reusing by Using of Constructed Wetland (식물정화조를 이용한 공업용 폐수의 정화 및 재활용 사례)

  • Constructed wetland was built for industrial factory wastewater treatment with environmentally sound method from July to October, 2000. Ultimately this case study was carried out to conserve water quality of river and underground water and to provide wildlife habitat and rest place for people in the industrial area. The size of constructed wetland was 10m$\times$6m (upper area) with a treatment capacity of 2.5㎥ per day. It was supplied with wastewater 0.625㎥ at intervals of six hours. Vertical flow system was chosen to promote efficiency. Draining layer was built one meter in soil depth out of sand mixed with pebbles in a ratio of two to one. Perennial emergent plants, Phragmites communis, Typha orientalis, Juncus effusus, Iris pseudoacorus, 20 individuals per square meter were planted. In the aspect of reusing, eco-pond was created for increasing biological species diversity and also deck and information signboard were established for the education of environment. As the result of monitoring, it was revealed that the constructed wetland was effective in removal of BOD$_{5}$, COD, T-N, T-P and has being gradually improved as a wildlife habitat(biotope).

Distribution Characteristics and Cost Estimation of Collection and Treatment of Deposited Marine Debris in Coastal Fisheries around the Southwestern Islands of Korea (서남해 주요 도서 연안 어장 침적쓰레기의 분포 실태 조사 및 수거 처리 비용 추정)

  • We surveyed and evaluated quantities and distribution characteristics of debris on the sea floor around active fishing grounds around the islands in the southwest coast of Korea in 2007 where the average depth is below 40m. Proper recovery gears mainly to haul the derelict fishing gears are selected considering the sea bed types of the areas. The collected debris amounts were used to estimate the total amount of the surveyed area. The number of hauls per trial times the amount of the debris was extended to whole sampling area and the weighting factor from the opinion was applied to reach the total amount of marine debris on the floor. The amount of the deposited marine debris around Wangdeung-do area is estimated as about 686 $kg/km^2$, and the cost of the collection and treatment for the deposited marine debris is estimated about 3.9 billion KRW after consideration of the proper size of the working ships, labor, transport and treatment cost.

Investigation of the surface treatment method for silent pavement in tunnels (터널 내 주행소음 저감을 위한 포장표면처리공법에 관한 조사연구)

  • The tunnels that longer than 2km which have been recently constructed have serious noise problems resulting from the friction of vehicle wheels and pavement. In special, concrete pavement inside tunnels with a closed characteristic increases discomfort due to the traffic noise and the dust of pavement pollutes the air in tunnels. Therefore, it is urgent that we find out ways to cope with. This study purported to reduce noise inside tunnels covers the investigation of various pavement surface treatment methods adapted in developed countries, the analysis of the effect in noise reduction and construction methods and cases. The surface treatment method for silent pavement in tunnels reduced noise to 5dB (A)~10dB (A). Aggregate treatment method is evaluated the most appropriate method in that, related with other surface treatment method, it reduces noise and improves skid resistance. It is necessary for us to introduce equipments and design and rearrange of specification for the development of the silent pavement method in Korea.

Improvement of Water and Fertilizer Use Efficiency by Daily Last Irrigation Time for Tomato Perlite Bag Culture (토마토 펄라이트 자루재배에서의 관수마감시각에 따른 용수이용효율 및 비료이용효율 증진)

  • Daily last time of irrigation in perlite bag culture was investigated to get high water use efficiency (WUE) and fertilizer use efficiency (FUE) and also sustain high productivity for tomato. The water content in the substrate was higher as the last time of irrigation was later from 4 to 1hour before sunset. The growth were not significantly different in all treatments. The marketable yield was the highest in treatments of 1 or 2hours before sunset and the lowest in treatment of 4hours. In the result to investigate for 128days WUE and FUE were the lowest in treatment of 1hour before sunset but the highest in treatment of 3hours before sunset. In the conclusion, it looks best to end irrigation 2~3hours before sunset in the aspects of plant growth, yield, WUE, and FUE.

  • Automatic Weather Systems (AWS) were placed at many educational as well as governmental institutes for the measurement of weather in Korea. However, weather information from AWS was not used as a real time system because of the complexity of the web display. For the web display ;ud automatic store of weather data to be used as a real time system, KNU Weather Now-V1.0 was developed. The system is very simple but useful for students and other users. Thus, everybody can use stored weather data and can process the data easily. This study focuses on the development of the system and the educational usage of AWS.
