  • This study is intended to propose quality criteria and Web metrics for usability quality evaluation of multimedia Web sites. Recently, applications of the Web sites are not limited to the area of industry and operating as it integrates the new technology. Also as information super highway becomes common with development or network technology, multimedia Web site is on the rise due to various use of multimedia attributes. Therefore this study expands to apply HTML based Web site quality evaluation studied in Software engineering, HCI, Hypermedia to multimedia Web site, and suggests new metrics by integrating flash usability which is expanding its portion in multimedia Web site lately. The Web metrics proposed in this study are verified by heuristic evaluation from a group of expert. It analyses the results of quantitative and qualitative qualify evaluation on Web Award Korea by comparing the award-winning, high-quality Web site with non-winning Web sites. This study can be used to establish guideline for high-quality multimedia Web site development in the future.

  • Component-based software development (CBSD) has been recognized effective reuse techniques for software development by many of researchers and companies. The purpose of CBSD is to produce a high quality software system quickly through using verified software component which is contained fine-grained business logics. This paper suggests the metrics and techniques for to extract component and its interface from legacy object oriented application. For extract component, we apply metrics to measure complexity, cohesion and coupling to the legacy system.

  • To support an efficient management of software verification and validation activities, many defect prediction models have been proposed based on object oriented metrics. They usually adopt logistic regression analysis, And, they state that the correctness of prediction is about 60${\sim}$70%, We performed a similar experiment with Eclipse 3.3 to check their prediction effectiveness, However, the result shows that correctness is about 40% which is much lower than the original results. We also found that univariate logistic regression analysis produces better results than multivariate logistic regression analysis.

  • Criticality prediction models that identify fault-prone spots using system design specifications play an important role in reducing development costs of large systems such as telecommunication systems. Many criticality prediction models using complexity metrics have been suggested. But most of them need training data set for model training. And they are classification models that can only classify design entities into fault-prone group and non fault-prone group. To solve this problem, this paper builds a new prediction model, HMM, using two styled hybrid metrics. HMM has strong point that it does not need training data and it enables comparison between design entities by criticality. HMM is implemented and compared with a well-known prediction model, BackPropagation neural network Model(BPM), considering internal characteristics and accuracy of prediction.

  • To evaluate the biological integrity of aquatic ecosystems, we developed Korean multimetric diatom index (KMDI) using metrics that many researchers have been previously described, and compared to single-metric diatom index such as trophic diatom index (TDI) and diatom assemblage index to organic pollution (DAIpo). For the biological and environmental data, we investigated the epilithic diatoms, water quality and the land-use for 923 sites in Korean streams between 2013-2017, and estuaries between 2010-2017, respectively. Five appropriate metrics were selected according to the following steps; 1) extraction of 300 potential metrics (biological, chemical, physical, and geographical) based on previous references, of these, 2) 46 samples having high separation power were selected, 3) the selected metrics were each tested for variability, redundancy, and sensitivity to the environments, finally 4) construction of multi-metric diatom index comprising single type metrics such as TDI, DAIpo, % motile diatoms, % Achnanthes / (Achnanthes+Navicula), and % number of Gomphonema species. The biological integrity of the 233 sites from the Geum River basin were independently investigated using KMDI. Collectively, the new KMDI showed high sensitivity and explanatory power for environmental factors such as land-use, biochemical oxygen demand, total nitrogen, and electric conductivity. However, it had slightly higher biological integrity for the same sites as compared to single type diatom metrics. Finally, more data accumulation from all over Korea and the development of acceptable diatom metrics were required.

  • As the number of smart phone users is increasing exponentially, the scale of the future mobile market is expected to be very large. Many mobile applications are developing according to this growth trend. On the other hand, there has been little verification of the quality, such as the reusability or extensibility of the developed mobile applications. In particular, many users have expressed their dissatisfaction in the case of pay mobile applications. Therefore, developed to measure the quality of mobile applications in developing mobile applications. Overall, the degree of user satisfaction can be improved by realizing the quality verification of mobile applications by applying the proposed metrics.

  • The increasing complexity and shorter life cycle of software have made it necessary to reuse software. Object-oriented development had not provided extensive reuse and computing infrastructures are evolving from mainframe to distributed environments. However, components provide more advanced means of structuring, describing and developing system, because they are more coarse-grained and have more domain-specific aspects than objects. And they are also suited for distributed environment due to their reusability and granularity. In this paper, we present a process including the static metrics and guidelines that can be applied to transform object-oriented systems into component-based systems. Our process consists of two parts: First, basic components are created based upon composition and inheritance relationships between classes. Second, intermediate system is refined into component-based system with the static metrics and guidelines we propose.

  • In this paper, we present a MMPR (Minimizing the Maximum Used Power Routing) Algorithm in a MANET (Mobile ad hoc network) by modifying the route selection algorithm in well-known routing MANET protocol. In the previous route selection algorithms, the metric for cost function is the minimal hop which does not consider the energy status. MMPR uses the metric with used energy The node that want to know the route for some destination begins calculating the route cost function with alpha which is the maximum used energy in the known route. If the new route that contains the node whose used energy is greater than previous known alpha is known to the node that want to send a packet in some moment, the probability of selecting the new route is lower. Experimental results with MMPR show higher performance in both the maximum used energy and the number of dead nodes than that of the CMMBCR (Conditional Max-Min Battery Routing).
