메타버스는 1992년 스노크래시(Snow Crash)라는 소설에 의해 그 개념이 소개되었다. 그 이후 여러 발전 과정을 거쳐 개념이 정리되었지만, 메타버스가 본격적으로 이슈화된 것은 코로나19 팬더믹으로 인해 사람들의 생활 패턴이 오프라인에서 온라인으로 급격하게 변화하면서 부터이다. 현재 세계적인 대기업들도 메타버스에 대한 많은 투자를 하고 있으며, 수많은 메타버스 플랫폼이 출시되고 있다. 하지만, 처음에는 분명 매력적으로만 보였던 메타버스에 대해 대중들에게 점차 의문을 표하고 있다.. 메타버스의 어떠한 부분이 이러한 인식 변화를 가져왔는지 연구/분석하며, 메타버스의 개념적 한계를 극복하기 위한 방향성을 제시하고자 한다.

The preservation metadata which is defined the property and history of changes must be describes logically and structurally for implementing long-term digital preservation. The preservation metadata makes the users to access and retrieve authentic digital resources and the managers of digital archives to manage and preserve more effectively the digital resources. his paper is review of recent developments relating to digital preservation metadata including the taxonomy of information object classes of Reference Model of OAIS and outlines some library-based projects. Next, the paper investigates how to develop and use the preservation metadata in university libraries and what is the core preservation metadata elements. Finally, the paper recommends the set of preservation metadata elements with broad applicability to digital preservation in university libraries.

Metadata Registry was developed to dynamically manage metadata and to increase interoperability between various and heterogeneous metadata. The built metadata registry can be used as a standard guideline for creation of new databases and it provides a radical data integration mechanism. However, in the situation that an enormous databases must be integrated progressively, there is a limit to the existing metadata-based approach. In case that each database has no statistical information for its use rate and the restricted cost is given to us for a unit time, existing metadata-based approaches do not provide how to select some databases to be preferentially integrated and to build a metadata registry progressively, In this paper, we propose a methodology that can create progressively metadata registries in the case. The proposed methodology is based on data visibility and hierarchical metadata registry. We also describe the system that have been developed for applying the methodology to a real domain, and then described its results.

Metadata is a general notion of data about data to improve data sharing and exchanging by definitely describing meaning and representation of data. However, metadata has been created in various ways and It caused another kind of heterogeneity problem named metadata heterogeneity problem. Recently, the research on metadata gateway approach that allows metadata heterogeneity is being more actively progressed. However, the existing commercialized systems that have been implemented with the metadata gateway approach are dependent on a metadata schema. In this paper, we propose a message conversion system which separates the mapping information from the mapping rules between heterogeneous metadata schemas. The proposed system dynamically manages standardized data elements by applying ISO/IEC l1179. Therefore, the proposed system provides the set of standard data elements to create consistently metadata of new databases and provides a fundamental resolution to the metadata heterogeneity problem.

The information about eBook cannot be added automatically to library catalog because the eBook Service Provider does not provide enough eBook metadata. Therefore, this paper was developed the eBook library's metadata in order to maintain the compatibility and interoperability analyzed the eBook service provider's metadata, KS X 6100 metadata, Dublin Core, MARC, and TEI Header, and extracted common meradata elements from them. We defined these common metadata elements as a core element and added other elements that uniquely describe eBook characteristics as a detailed adn additional elements for eBook metadata.

본 논문은 메타검색엔진 시스템에서 다양한 검색결과를 하나의 검색결과로 통합시켜주는 통합랭킹 방법에 대한 연구이다 검색결과 통합시 메타검색 시스템에서 실질적으로 이용할 수 있는 링크정보와 요약정보를 사용하였다 통해 이루어져 있다. 또한 링크정보와 요약정보에 대한 가중치 값을 변화시키면서 다양한 검색결과들을 얻을 수 있었는데, 요약정보의 가중치를 높여 주었을 때 검색 효율이 좋음을 알 수 있었다.

웹상에서 제공되는 영상정보 자원의 양이 급증하고 이용자들의 문화적인 수요가 높아진 것에 비해 영상정보를 포괄적으로 기술할 수 있는 체계적인 서지기술은 부족한 실정이다. 기존의 영상정보 기술 메타데이터 요소로는 이용자가 탐색하고자 하는 정보자원을 적절하게 검색하거나 혹은 검색된 자원 중에서 서로 연관성이 있는 정보를 그룹화하여 보여주는 것이 불가능하다[1]. 따라서 영상정보 자원이 지니는 다양한 수준과 다양한 측면의 특성을 표현해 내기 위해 국내에서 제안된 영상정보 분야의 새로운 메타데이터 표준이 제시되었다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 영상정보 분야의 메타데이터를 기반으로 하는 영화 Context 검색 엔진을 개발하였고, 이에 따라 추후에 적절한 정보자원의 검색과 연관성 있는 정보의 그룹화로의 확장을 가능하게 할 것이다.

As the information-intensive society in 21c based on the environment of global internet is promoted, the software is getting more large and complex, and the demand for the software is increasing briskly. So, it becomes an important issue in academic and industrial field to activate reuse by developing and exchanging the standardized component. Currently, the information services as a product type of each company are provided in foreign market place for reusing a commercial component, but the components which are serviced in each market place are different, insufficient and unstandardized. That is, construction for Component Data Registry based on ISO 11179, is not accomplished. Hence, the national government has stepped up the plan for sending out public component at 2001. Therefore, the systems as a tool for sharing and exchange of data, have to support the meta-information of standardized component. In this paper, we will propose the C_MDR system: a tool to register and manage the standardized meta-information, based upon ISO 11179, for the commercialized common component. The purpose of this system is to systemically share and exchange the data in chain of acceleration of reusing the component. So, we will show the platform of specification for the component meta-information, then define the meta-information according to this platform, also represent the meta-information using XML for enhancing the interoperability of information with other system. Moreover, we will show that three-layered expression make modeling to be simple and understandable. The implementation of this system is to construct a prototype system of the component meta-information through the internet on www, this system uses ASP as a development language and RDBMS Oracle for PC. Thus, we may expect the standardization of the exchanged component metadata, and be able to apply to the exchanged reuse tool.

UAProfile과 MPEG-21 Terminal capability는 Device의 특성을 기술한다는 점에서는 비슷하다. 그러나 자세히 기술하고자 하는 특성이 다르므로 서로 다른 구조를 가지고 있다. 하지만 UAProfile과 MPEG-21 Terminal capability의 메타데이터를 통합함으로서 이 두 메타데이터 그룹들 간의 이질성을 극복할 수 있다. 또한 두개의 메타데이터들을 합쳤을 경우에는 서로 상호 보완적 역할을 하기 때문에 하나의 메타데이터 그룹을 사용한 결과보다 표현능력을 더 향상시킬 수 있다.

본 연구는 웹상에 존재하는 메타데이터의 통합이나 그 활용성을 증진시키기 위해서 RDF를 활용하여 상이한 메타데이터 형식에 정의된 기술요소간의 어의적인 연계성을 확보하기 위한 방안에 대한 연구이다. 이를 위해 RDF스키마를 기반으로 연계성 확보의 기반이 되는 공통스키마를 설계하고, 이 스키마의 해당 클래스를 rdf： domain속성값으로 메타데이터 스키마를 설계함으로써 결과적으로 공통스키마를 기준으로 메타데이터 형식상호간 연계성을 갖도록 하였다.
