Preparation of Mesoporous Titanium Oxides by Template Synthesis and Phase Transition of TiO2 inside Mesoporous Silica (주형합성을 통한 메조포러스 TiO2 제조 및 실리카 메조포어 내부에서의 TiO2 상전이 거동 변화)

  • To prepare mesoporous $TiO_2$ ($meso-TiO_2$) with anatase and rutile crystal structures, hydrothermal and template synthesis were used. $Meso-TiO_2$ with anatase structure was obtained by hydrothermal synthesis. The crystal structure of $meso-TiO_2$ by hydrothermal synthesis converted from anatase to rutile by simple heating at $600^{\circ}C$ and above. However, their mesopore structure collapsed due to phase transition. To prepare $meso-TiO_2$ with rutile structure, template synthesis method was applied using mesoporous silica KIT-6 as a template. Once we incorporated anatase $TiO_2$ inside mesopores of silica, the phase transition temperature of $TiO_2$ confined inside KIT-6 was much higher ($900^{\circ}C$) than that of free-standing $TiO_2$ ($600^{\circ}C$). The suppression of $TiO_2$ phase transition inside mesopores of KIT-6 is closely related with the interaction between $TiO_2$ surface and silica walls in KIT-6 because oxygen vacancy in $TiO_2$ is regarded as the starting point for phase transition. After removal of silica template by NaOH solution washing, $meso-TiO_2$ with mixed phase between anatase and rutile was obtained.

  • MCM-41 type spherical mesoporous silica material was synthesized, under basic conditions, in the presence of cationic surfactant as templating species. The cationic surfactants used in this experiment were octyltrimethylammonium bromide, dodecyltrimetylammonium bromide, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, octadecyltrimethyammonium bromide and cetylpyridium bromide. Specific surface area of spherical MCM-41 was as high as $1500m^2/g$ and the pore size decreased with increasing alkyl chain length of surfactant.

  • 본 합성법으로 제조된 메조포러스 실리카는 X-선 회절패턴, TEM, FT-IR, BET 측정 결과 MCM-41의 특성과 동일하게 나타났다. 연구 결과 PH조절에 따른 MCM의 특성을 표면적, 기공분포, XRD회절분석, SEM, TEM의 결과를 이용하여 파악하였으며, 쌀겨로부터 규소원을 MCM-41의 합성이 가능함을 알 수 있었다. PH조절에 황산과 아세트산 두 가지의 산을 사용하였다. 그 결과 황산보다는 아세트산을 사용하였을 때 수율과 주기공 크기가 증가하는것을 알수있었다. 아세트산을 이용한 경우 팽윤 효과를 나타내어 주기공 크기가 커진 것이다.

A study on the Initial Nanopore Formation in the Calix Arene Based Porogen Templated Porous Thin Film (칼릭스아렌 포로젠을 이용한 다공성 박막의 초기 나노기공 형성과정에 관한 연구)

  • Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy and in-situ Position Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy(PALS) analysis of hybrid film, which consist of silsesquioxane(SSQ) and 4-tert-butyl calix[4]arene-O,O',O",O'"-tetraacetic acid tetraethyl ester(CA[4]) have been investigated in order to understand initial formation of nanopore in the next generation porous low-k dielectrics(k < 2.0). SSQ/CA[4] can provide effective homogeneous thin film having porous structure. The porogen decomposition behavior were completely different in the two kinds of SSQ/CA[4] based hybrid film (i.e. SSQ/CA[4] 10 and SSQ/CA[4] 20%). Relatively small pores(1.5 nm) come from dispersion of uni-molecular CA[4] in the SSQ matrix have been generated at $300^{\circ}C$, while mesopores(2.5~3.0 nm) induced from self assembled CA[4] have been generated at $250^{\circ}C$. It might be due to highly interconnected structure of SSQ/CA[4] 20% hybrid thin film resulting in facile evacuating of decomposed fragment of CA[4] molecule.

  • The iron incorporation method according to addition steps during the synthesis of iron incorporated MCM-41 was examined systematically. Iron addition during pH adjustment was more effective than the other addition steps which were addition to template agent solution or addition after mixing of template agent and sodium silicate solution. In case of iron addition after extraction of template agent from as-synthesized silica MCM-41, most of the iron was on the surface of pores not the frame work structure. Although the amount of iron addition was increased, there was a limit to the amount of iron incorporated into framework structure of MCM-41. The synthesized FeMCM-41 catalyst showed catalytic activities for propylene oxidation. Otherwise, there might be no attractive differences of catalytic activity among the addition steps of iron.

Removal of Pb2+ Ions from Water by Surfactant-templated Mesoporous Silicates (계면활성제가 담지된 메조포러스 실리케이트에 의한 수중 납이온 제거)

  • Mesoporous silicate materials have been used as adsorbents for the removal of heavy metals from water by introducing functional groups such as thiol and amine. In this research, it was investigated whether surfactants used as templating agents in synthetic processes can act as adsorption sites for heavy metals. Three mesoporous silicates-SBA-15, MCM-41, and HMS were synthesized using, respectively, block copolymer, hexadecyltrimethylammoniumbromide (HDTMA), and dodecyamine as surfactants. X-ray diffraction and $N_2$ gas adsorption analysis confirmed that the mesoporous silicates were well prepared and FT-IR spectra resulted in the existence of the surfactants in as-synthesized mesoporous silicates and the removal of surfactants after calcination. The interactions between $Pb^{2+}$ ions and the mesoporous silicate materials with/without surfactants were observed. In adsorption kinetic experiments, it revealed that the calcined mesoporous silicates and the surfactant-loaded SBA-15 almost had no adsorption capacity for $Pb^{2+}$ ions. In contrast, the surfactant-loaded MCM-41 and HMS showed, respectively, the adsorption capacities of 26.60 and 115.16 mg/g which were acquired through the fits of adsorption kinetic data to the pseudo second order kinetic model. The adsorption capacities were comparable to those of other mesoporous adsorbents for heavy metals.

Fabrication of Honeycomb Adsorbents by Using the Ceramic Paper and Adsorption Characteristics of VOC (세라믹섬유지를 사용한 허니컴 흡착소자 제조 및 VOC 흡착특성)

  • The adhesion characteristics of adsorbent during impregnation of Y-type and ZSM-5type zeolites into ceramic paper were analyzed, as the amount of silica sol in slurry for impregnation was varied. 31 wt% of zeolite particle, which is useful for VOC adsorption, was evenly dispersed and adhered on ceramic paper and original crystal structure of the zeolite remained unchanged even after binder application and heat treatment. Surface area of the impregnated ceramic paper was decreased compared with that of zeolite powder. And it was found to be attributed to the reduction of volume of mesopore while the volume of micropore under $20{\AA}$ was unchanged. Zeolite-impregnated honeycomb cylinder, whose diameter and length were 10 cm and 40 cm, respectively, was subjected to adsorption/desorption test with respect to toluene, MEK, cyclohexanone. All of the VOC's were removed by adsorption with efficiency higher than 97% and from the static adsorption test, $42 Nm^3/h$ of 300 ppmv-VOC-laden air was calculated be treated continuously, when the honeycomb was used in an adsorptive rotor system.
