In this paper, we represent a system of identification and feature search for scanned comics in consideration of their content characteristics. For creating the feature of the scanned comics, we utilize a method of hierarchical symmetry fingerprinting. Proposed identification and search system is designed to give online service provider, such as Webhard, an immediate identification result under conditions of huge volume of the scanned comics. In simulation part, we analyze the robustness of the identification of the fingerprint to image modification such as rotation and translation. Also, we represent a structure of database for fast matching in feature point database, and compare search performance between other existing searching methods such as full-search and most significant feature search.

제작자의 작품세계에서 표현하고자 하는 시각적 언어를 감상자의 느낌과 제작자의 시점을 통해 시각적 커뮤니케이션이 이루어지도록 하고자 한다. 인간의 시각화의 차례를 역순(feed back)으로 표현하여 시각화된 2차원의 이미지 이전의 3차원에서 관찰할 수 있는 시점에서의 다양한 관찰의 시점을 제시하고자 한다. 시각적 요소들을 관찰자의 시점에서 시각적 이미지로 형성되기 이전의 관찰자의 시점에서 볼 수 있는 시점 중 4가지 시점에서의 관찰을 제시하여 시점의 표현을 관찰하고자 가능한 한 효율적인 동작으로 연구하여 제작하고자 한다.

The trend of making film from the comic source, which is a prototype of so-called media mix, is indeed a different phenomenon from the traditional ones from novel or play sources. Historically comics are recently adapted to film although they have narratives and continuity of images. It is due to the lack of social conception of comics genre and extension of imagination that is a characteristics of the comics. However, it is conspicuous that comics has been a source of film along with the development of technology of visual image reproduction and the trend of enlarging reproduction of popular media image. Since comics can provide narratives and he visual sense for film making, these trend will be continued and more vivid.

The image that reflects the lapse of time can only take the form of segmentation originally. All of the fixation status in an image is shown to us as the form of division(segmentation) whether it is the form of two dimensional paintings or three dimensional sculptures, but not the form of video monitors. This kind of method was extremely developed in the cartoon field. Therefore, the cartoon evolves the subjects of events and finds the worth and meaning through the arrangement of cuts. Also, Animation inquires into the principles of attaching the media continuously. The media is represented in the segmentation according to the lapse of time and I tend to analyze the origination of cartoon formation. Consequently, I tired to find the examples of the prehistoric cuts and forms, the divisions of fragmented cartoon stripes, and the cuts and forms which are composed of narrative and descriptive styles of arrangement, and finally can certify and validate them. In summary, the sections and divisions of the variable kinds of cuts and frames for the expression of the time were corroborated. The potentials of the space usage and the diversity of the cartoon formation were also founded and illustrated to suggest the broader stands of cartoon.

현재 거대한 산업으로 형성되어온 만화의 이미지는 상업 광고나 정치선전, 공공홍보 등에 서 만화의 매체적 특성을 이용해 많은 효과를 얻고 있으며 복식에도 많이 응용되고 있다. 이러한 만화의 선두자인 조오지왕조 시대의 케리커쳐는 그 당시 많은 사람들에게 널리 보급되어 유행되었다. 케리커쳐의 어원은 Caricare라는 이탈리아어로 ‘싣는다’ 또는 ‘덧붙인다’라는 의미로 1646년 이탈리아의 화가인 마시니(Masini)가 그린 “일그러진 얼굴”을 캐리커처의 시작으로 보고 있다. (중략)

For several decades in history of cartoon, it was about the era of publishing tendency based on printing technique just until few years before now. The media critic Marshall McLuhan said, "The cartoon of the 20th century have characters of printing or woodblock printing yet. Coming in to the 1980s, unlike traditional printing, cartoons of more various form appeared such as 'Moving cartoon, CD-ROM cartoon, Click-cartoon'. These phenomenons diversified and accelerated during the electronic equipments and internet that cartoon were able to be produced and distributed on not printing forms were progressing and popularizing. Like these, base on the progress of various forms in webtoon, this study will suggest 3 concept about expansion of Spatial Expressions of expression and cognition such as 'Reminiscent of The Vertical Image', 'The Vertical Panorama' and 'The Morphing into Spaces'. Also, , , the works of Doha Kang who is in the spotlight as the webtoonist of avant-garde and dynamic works, will be examined and analysed as the texts. Doha Kang was selectied as a 'Contemporary Twenty Webtoonist in Korea' from a survey of the cartoon's experts in korea by Bucheon Cartoon Information Center in 2009. He has recognized as the most experimental and be influential webtoonist from beginning of webtoon era to today. In this context, the analyses of his two works that was published in 2007, 2009 each, will helps understanding from diverse viewpoint about webtoon's expressions and structures. Furthermore, this study helps focus on values of webtoon as expansion art of Spatial Expression.

Although cartoons have been recognized for their great potential and value, they have failed to bloom in Korea. This is because wrong perception and irregular distribution of cartoons have been repeated for the last several years. Presently, however, cartoons are escaping from chronic problems they have had for long and welcoming splendid chances now. From the mid- and late-1990's, there have been large-scale events having cartoons as their theme, and social recognition on cartoons is becoming more and more positive. Their contents are diversified, readers are increased, and they are escaping from stereotypes through harmony with other media. Lately, either large or small exhibitions for cartoons are being planned, and Korean cartoons are going overseas and producing exhibitions there. Particularly, visitors' appreciative eye is getting keener, and they begin to see them not as a genre underestimated as low culture like in the past but as a kind of art on which independent research is being actively conducted. One of the biggest factors that have allowed cartoons to be positioned as visual art is the form of exhibitions that combine them with other genres artistically. Especially the cartoon exhibitions being held these days are aggressively introducing various elements of the cartoon genre through the medium of exhibitions not just as a mere tool of seeing to help understand cartoon writers or works. The genre of cartoons is now regarded as an active subject that can reflect its own unique essence in this rapidly changing cultural environment and extend the range of it itself. The latest cartoon exhibitions are characterized by trans-genre and complex aspects in terms of their direction or organization according to the contents, space, or theme. This trend of cartoon exhibitions implies that they are subdividing, analyzing, and planning various factors not in a horizontal way that was centered around image as in the past. It means that cartoon exhibitions are evolving as a form of mobilizing, combining, and reproducing various methods. Although a number of cartoon exhibitions are being held with a variety of themes, there is still lack of research on cartoon exhibitions concerning their forms and contents. Therefore, this researcher sees cartoon exhibitions as a factor that allows cartoons to escape from negative recognition and examines various cartoon exhibitions, from Seoul International Cartoon Animation Festival to the ones that are recently held, to figure out the meaning of Korean cartoon exhibitions. Furthermore, this researcher will find out the factors of planning and popularity in international exhibitions or personal cartoon exhibitions being presently held and figure out new directions and potentials for Korean cartoon exhibitions based on that. To meet the needs of visitors whose expectations have become even higher, it is needed to try not just previous methods but experimental and original planning as well constantly. To realize that, it is necessary to keep providing a field of opportunity where cartoon works, cartoon writers, and visitors can communicate as in an exhibition. It is expected that this study will trigger research on cartoon exhibitions to be performed multilaterally and produce new discourse on cartoon exhibitions afterwards.

The article concerns the continuity and transformation of the cartoon strip for the musical performance. Recently, the cartoon strip has been considered as a resource for creating the musical performance. However, There are a few articles on the relationship of the cartoon strip and the musical performance. In this respect, the article seeks to examine the characteristics of the cartoon strip and the musical performance in terms of planning system, storytelling structure, character formation and marketing strategies. The case on the musical entitled 'The Great Catsby', which is rooted in the cartoon strip entitled 'The Great Catsby', is examined. As a result, on the one hand, the characteristics of the cartoon strip has continuously affected the process of creating the musical performance in terms of storytelling, character formation, stage management and the marketing activities. On the other hand, the musical performance considers the music and sound, the moving image and stage management, performance of the actors as an essential part in comparison with the cartoon strip. In addition, the musical performance simplifies and recontructs the cartoon strip according to the principles of the musical performance.

지금, 세계는 바야흐로 'Social Network Service(이하 SNS)의 시대' 이다. SNS란 '일련의 관계에 의해 모인 사람들 간의 관계망을 특정 체계를 통해 대중에게 제공하는 것' 이라고 할 수 있다. 과거 향우회, 동문회처럼 오프라인에서 존재했던 이러한 관계망이 온라인으로 도입된 것이 현재 SNS라고 일컫는 서비스이다. SNS가 큰 인기를 끌고 정보 사회가 발전함에 따라 SNS의 서비스와 형태도 점차 다양해져 왔다. 특히나 그림 영상 등의 시각적인 요소를 사용한 의사소통과 정보의 공유가 과거 그 어떤 매체보다도 손쉽고 빠르게 이루어지고 있다. 인간의 거의 모든 문화 사회적 활동에 컴퓨터가 기반이 됨으로써, 우리는 점차 텍스트, 사진, 영화, 음악, 가상환경 등과 같은 문화 데이터와 더욱 밀접한 관계에 놓이게 되었으며 이것은 SNS에서도 예외가 아니다. 우리는 더 이상 컴퓨터를 마주하는 것이 아니라 디지털 형식으로 기호화된 문화와 마주하고 있으며, 그 중심에는 시각적인 요소들, 즉 '이미지'가 있다. 이러한 점에 착안하여 본 연구는 'SNS'와 그 이미지들의 특성에 대한 이해를 선행한 뒤, 최근 국내에서 가장 활발한 성장세를 나타내고 있는 SNS인 미투데이 페이스북 이상의 두 서비스의 사례를 분석할 것이다. SNS의 이미지의 정체성, 이미지 표현의 특징과 양상이 어떠한지를 분석하고 SNS에서 사용되는 이미지와 그 의미를 보다 심층적인 관점에서 이해해 보는 것은 SNS를 중심으로 형성되어 있는 관련 업계와 학계에 유의미한 내용을 제공할 것으로 기대된다.
