Efficiency Analysis of the Korean Listed Display Companies (국내 상장 디스플레이 기업의 효율성 분석)

  • Although the display industry plays an important role in the entire Korean economy, few empirical research has analyzed the efficiency of display companies. The purpose of this paper is to measure and analyze efficiency of korean listed display firms using DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) models. We evaluate the CCR and BCC efficiency in DEA models and the return to scale of the Korean listed display companies. The benchmarking companies and efficiency value for the display companies with inefficiency are also provided to improve their efficiency. We analyzed the 44 listed companies consisted of 7 listed on KOSPI and 37 listed on KOSDAQ at the end of 2010. The analysis results show six companies whose values of CCR are 1, and fourteen firms whose values of BCC efficiency are 1. In additions, the six companies have the scalability efficiency. Eventually the efficiency analysis can provide the valuable information for inefficient companies to find benchmarking companies and to improve their efficiency.

A Study on Marking Efficiency for One-Piece Dress Pattern (원피스 드레스 패턴 마킹의 효율성에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to examine the marking efficiency of a dress pattern in order to reduce textile loss by pattern marking. A basic one-piece dress pattern saved to the Yuka CAD System was graded with different sizes and arranged for industrial purpose to calculate the marking efficiency in different conditions. Condition of marking experiment is made it a rule to use 150cm textile width and apply 44, 55, 66 pattern size for three pieces of a dress patterns. The results of the study indicated that the marking efficiency rates of the dress pattern with a separate facing was higher than the one with a self facing. In the dress pattern with a separate facing, the separated seam at center back was appeared to have a higher marking efficiency than the extended seam. It was also found that the efficiency rate was higher in the pattern with a seam at center back when comparing with the dress pattern without a seam. When the marking with a horizontally-loaded collar was compared with a vertically-loaded collar, the efficiency rate was higher for the collar loaded horizontally, The result of the study showed that the type of facing, the location of a seam, and the direction of collar loading were the factors directly related to increasing marking efficiency. The dress patterns marked efficiently in terms of a type of facing, seam, and collar treatment can reduce fabric loss and also shorten the time needed for marking process.

The Development of Convergence Bench-making system on length of stay (융복합 재원일수 벤치마킹 시스템 개발)

  • This study aims to develop a LOS(Length of Stay) bench-making system that can provide efficient by comparing the LOS management of other hospital and level evaluation for inducing the LOS to manage their own activities. The convergence LOS bench-making web program has been implemented to compare a variety of beds, regional group, followed reporting with excel files downloads by using the severity-adjusted LOS model of Korean National Hospital Discharge in-depth Injury Survey data. Features that are computed in real-time severity-adjusted LOS was also implemented. Trial operating results, bench-making system was confirmed efficient for management of LOS on the long-term care and group of disease in hospital from the staff or medical department, receive requests comparative statistics by area and disease group. Therefore the policy alternative on extension of severity-adjusted LOS is needed to utilized bench-making system on LOS.

Management Efficiency of High-growth Electrical and Electronics Industry (고성장 전기·전자사업의 경영효율성)

  • The high-technological in the electric and electronic industries is recognized in overseas markets as well. However, the competition for technologies in these industries is increasing. Therefore, electric and electronic firms should be more efficient in their production. so, This paper analyzes the efficiency of High-growth Electrical and Electronics firms using DEA model. We evaluate the CCR, BBC efficiency and RTS(return to scale) of 20 Korean high-growth Electrical and Electronics firms. There are a total of 12 efficient DMUs with a BCC of 1. There are a total of 4 efficient DMUs with a CCR of 1. A total of 11 DMUs were IRS in Scale Efficiency and a total of 6 DMUs were CRS in Scale Efficiency and a total of 3 DMUs were DRS in Scale Efficiency. We also suggest the Electrical and Electronics firms which can be benchmarked based on analyzed information.

  • The purpose of this paper is to measure the productive efficiency and competitive strength of Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office using the DEA. Using EMS(Efficiency Measurement System) which is LP solver, quantifies in one way or another a "distance" to the efficient frontier of the technology. An input oriented measure quantifies the input reduction which is necessary to become efficient holding the output constant. Symmetrically, an output oriented measure quantifies the necessary to become efficient holding the inputs constant. A non-oriented measure quantifies necessary improvements when both inputs and outputs can be improved simultaneously. According to the analysis result of the DEA method, inefficient Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office should recommend benchmarking reference Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office in order to enhance the productive efficiency of port administration and a public institution. Besides data on productive efficiency serves as a tool for policy-makers at all levels of activity and is essential for improving the efficiency with which the various systems operate.

An Efficiency Analysis for the Public Activities Support Projects of Non-Profit Private Organizations using DEA (비영리민간단체의 공익활동 지원사업 효율성분석)

  • This study suggests consulting directions for non-profit private organizations which were found to be inefficient in the efficiency analysis for the public activities support projects on those organizations performed by the Korean government. An ANOVA analysis on seven types of public activities support projects showed that there were differences among those types. By applying CCB-I, BCC-I, Super efficiency models among DEA, performance efficiencies were analyzed. Four input elements (age of the organization, supported amount, number of members, and the number of workers) and three output elements (project scores, financial scores, and comprehensive scores) were analyzed, and high efficient organizations were found as benchmarking objects, and, through super efficiency analysis, those objects were classified into short, mid, and long-term objects. Through such methods, this research provided organizations with the best information on other organizations to learn from and improve themselves.

Management Efficiency of Korean Information and Communication Enterprise (국내 정보통신업의 경영효율성)

  • Information and communication industry, which has been growing rapidly, is now leading the global economic growth, contributing a ripple effect on general business and economic structure. It is said that information and communication industry enables swift economic growth taking a role as a basic industry of information-oriented society. Especially, rapid technical innovation promotes mutual growth of other related industries and it is technology-intensive. The purpose of this research is to analyze the management efficiency of information and communication industry using DEA method, and finally suggests numerical value for inefficient organizations to improve their efficiency. CCR-I, BCC-I efficiency and RTS(Returns to scale) of 29 companies engaged in information and communication industry was evaluated. With the results, we suggested the model companies for benchmarking in information and communication industry. To summarize, 7 companies were selected with CCR-I efficiency rate 1, and 12 companies with BCC-I efficiency rate 1. RTS was finalized with 8 IRS companies, 10 DRS companies, and 11 CRS companies.

  • One of the main issues in Diffserv AS architecture is guaranteeing fairness among the flows which have their own QoS requirements. Because the methodology of resource allocation and traffic conditioning would affect the end-to-end QoS and backbone link utilization. In this paper, we propose a variant of TSW algorithm for enhancing fair bandwidth allocation and link utilization and presents performance evaluation between TSW & TS2W3C through NS-2 Simulations.

  • Benchmarking is an effective tool supporting improvement of corporate competitiveness and development of management strategy, however, its effectiveness may be compromised if its target and approach are not appropriate. Notably, the construction industry of Korea is unique in that it has a number of competitors sharing the same category and is significantly exposed to changes in external environment in terms of legal, regulatory and policy frameworks. Such characteristics make target corporate category rather than single company more suitable as benchmarking target and necessitate analysis of external environment. Analyzing the Technical Efficiency of Korean System Integration Firms (자료포괄분석을 이용한 국내 SI회사의 효율성 분석)

  • 본 논문은 자료포괄분석(Data Envelopment Analysis, DEA)을 이용하여 국내 SI회사를 대상으로 효율성을 측정하고 효율성의 연도별 추세를 분석하여 개별기업 및 산업차원에서 변화의 방향을 파악하였다. 기업집단의 소속여부에 따른 비효율성의 차이와 효율성에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인에 관해 실증적으로 분석하였다. 평균적으로 국내 SI회사의 기술적 효율성은 약간 하락하고 있으며, TE 및 PTE의 표준편차와 최대값-최소값의 범위는 상당히 증가하고 있어 양극화가 심화되고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 기업집단 소속인 기업과 그렇지 않은 기업의 효율성을 분석한 결과 그 차이는 통계적으로 유의함을 검증하였다. 한편, 효율성에 영향을 미치는 각종 요인과 TE 및 PTE 간의 상관관계를 분석한 결과, 내부매출비중, 정보생산성, 인당매출, EBITDA율, 부가가치율, 투하자본 수익률(ROIC) 등과 TE 및 PTE 간에 모두 강한 상관계수를 보이고 있다. 이와 같은 효율성의 분석을 통해 SI산업의 지속 가능한 경쟁력을 확보하고 개별 기업의 효율성을 향상하기 위한 전략적 벤치마킹과 정책적 의사결정에 기여할 수 있다.
