A Micro Mixer with Recirculation Zones (재순환 영역이 존재하는 마이크로 혼합기)

  • This paper describes enhancement of the mixing efficiency of a multilamination micro mixer by adding a number of recirculation zones downstream of the mixing zone. Numerical simulation was employed to estimate the mixing efficiency and the pressure drop under various conditions. Numerical results indicated that recirculation micro mixer brought about not only the increase of the mixing efficiency but also the decrease of the pressure drop. Micro mixers were fabricated using photosensitive glass by anisotropic wet etching technique. The width and height of the micro channel were $150{\mu}m$ and $500{\mu}m$, respectively. The performance of micro mixer was measured using color intensity variation of the fluid. Except for extremely low Re below 40, the recirculation micro mixer of the present study showed improved mixing. And the enhancement of the mixing increased as Re rose. When Re increased beyond 400, more than 90% of the mixing was observed in the experiment.

The Prediction of mixing with Helix Index for 3-Dimensional channel in micro (3 차원 마이크로 채널에서 나선지수에 의한 혼합예측)

  • The present paper suggests new method to know the effects of molecular diffusion and the helicity of microchannel flows on mixing in passive micromixers, which are essential components of a microfluidic chip. In this study, 'Helix Index' is newly defined as the magnitude of chaotic advection. Relationship between Helix Index and Mixing Index is analyzed numerically such as the wide range of Peclet and Reynolds numbers in three dimensional serpentine microchannel when using soluble solutions (water/glycerol). As a result, a simple algebraic equation is derived by this relationship based on a regression analysis. The algebraic equation is found to be able to accurately predict the mixing performance without solving the coupled, complex momentum and mass transfer equations.

  • 본 논문에서는 nonradiative dielcctric (NRD) 도파로를 이용하여 28GHz대에서의 single balanced mixer를 설계하였다. 혼합기에 필요한 $90^{\circ}$ hybrid direction기 3dB 결합기를 NRD 도파로를 이용하여 설계 하였고 CST MWS를 이용하여 설계 결과를 검중 하였으며 결과는 중심 주파수 28GHz에서 대역폭이 1GHz의 결합기를 설계하였음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이와동시에 다이오드를 부착하기 위해 NRD 도파로와 마이크로스트립의 매칭 구조를 1 pole UDR과 patch를 이용하여 혼합기를 설계, 제작하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 무선LAN용으로 사용할 수 있는 마이크로 스트립을 이용한 대역동과 필터를 설계하였다. 기존의 링이나 square loop의 구조를 이용한 공진기와는 다르게 cross loop 와 meander loop의 구조를 이용한 공진기를 혼합한 형태로써 크기가 상당히 줄어든 새로운 구조와 BandPass Filter를 설계하였다.

  • Hypergolic propellant ignited spontaneously when fuel and oxidizer contact without ignition system. Due to this characteristic, the risk of accidents is high when new propellants are evaluated. Prevention of accidents is very important because the damage can be large when the accident occur. In this work, we proposed non-ignition evaluation method which can replace conventional ignition evaluation method by using microreactor. The reactor was fabricated by MEMS. The heat of reaction as according to fuel and NaBH4 was estimated. At the condition of highest heat of reaction ignition was observed by drop test.

Simple Fabrication of Micromixer Based on Non-Equilibrium Electrokinetics in Micro/Nano Hybrid Fluidic System (단순공정으로 제작된 마이크로/나노 하이브리드 채널의 불균형 동전기성을 이용한 미세혼합기 연구)

  • In this study, we developed a micromixer based on the non-equilibrium electrokinetics at the junction of a microchannel and nanochannel. Two fluid streams were mixed by an electro-osmotic flow and a vortex flow created as a result of the non-equilibrium electrokinetics at the junction of the microchannel and nanochannel. Initially, the microchannel was fabricated using Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) by the general soft lithography process and the nanochannel was created at a specific position on the microchannel by applying a high voltage. To evaluate the mixing performance of the micromixer, fluorescent distribution was analyzed by using the fluorescent dye, Rhodamine B. About 90% mixing was achieved with this novel micromixer, and this micromixer can be used in microsystems for biochemical sample analysis.

  • The physical characteristics of autonomic microcapsules manufactured with various agitation speeds in a stirred tank were observed experimentally by a particle size analyzer and an optical microscope. The flow characteristics in a stirred tank were also investigated through a 3-dimensional numerical simulation to understand the manufacturing process of autonomic microcapsules. According to the results, we found that the agitation speed was the important factor to determine the sizes of microcapsules. The impeller-induced flow allowed the jet and tip-vortex pair components in the mixed fluid of a stirred tank. The vorticity around the blades in the impeller was increased as increasing the agitation speed. In addition, the size of autonomic microcapsules was strongly affected on the small scale mixing pattern such as a tip-vortex pair.

  • The design and performance test of a low NOx gas turbine combustor to be used in 55kW class micro-gasturbine engine was performed in KARI's combustion test facility. The combustor is reverse flow-can type for easy installation of injector and other parts and LNG is used as fuel. The performance targets are $99.5\%$ combustion efficiency, less 10ppm NOx, $30\%$ patten factor and $4\%$ pressure loss. Most of the performances required are satisfied.

  • A phase frequency detector(PFD) composed of logic circuits is widely used in a phase locked loop(PLL) due to the easy implementation for integrated circuits. A frequency locked loop(FLL) removes the reference oscillator in the PLL, and the resonator serves as a reference oscillator. A frequency detector(FD) is indispensable for the FLL configuration, and a FD, which is usually composed of a mixer is used to build an FLL. In this paper, instead of FD using mixer, a FD is constructed by using 1.175 GHz resonator composed of microstrip and PFD taking the versatility of PFD into consideration. Using the designed FD, FLL oscillating at a frequency of 1.175 GHz is composed. As a result of comparison with the FLL composed of FD using mixer, it was confirmed that the proposed FLL has better phase noise performance than FLL using mixer FD with FLL bandwidth.
