A Study on Power Dissipation of The Microprocessor Based on Trace-Driven Simulation (명령어 자취형 모의실험을 기반으로 하는 마이크로프로세서의 전력 소비에 대한 연구)

  • Recently, power dissipation is a very significant issue not only in embedded systems and mobile devices but also in high-end modern processors. Especially, by the prevalent use of smart phones and tablet PCs, low power consumption of microprocessors is requisite. In this paper, a fast power measurement tool for a high performance microprocessor based on the trace-driven simulator has been developed. The power model of the microprocessor consists of complex combinational circuits, array structures, and CAM structures. Using SPEC 2000 benchmarks as input, the trace-driven simulation has been performed to estimate the average power dissipation of each program.

  • Recently, the importance of DRAM is very significant not only in embedded systems and mobile devices but also in high-end modern microprocessors and multicore processors. To keep up with this, both industry and academia have actively studied various types of future DRAMs. Therefore, accurate DRAM model is requisite when evaluating the microprocessor performance. In this paper, a microprocessor trace-driven simulator which can couple with the cycle-accurate DRAM simulator has been developed. Using SPEC 2000 benchmarks as input, the effect of cycle-accurate DDR3 model on the microprocessor performance has been evaluated.

  • In this paper, we studied about the level controller of optical signal with 40 channels by 4 VOA(Variable Optical Attenuator) with 12 channels. Total 8 microprocessors control 40 chamois for control of optical signal level so that a microprocessor controls 5 channels each. Moreover a microprocessor was added to communicate with outside and transfer instruction to each microprocessor. The output optical signal is measured and VOA is controlled as a result of it. The VOA outputs is inputted into PD(Photo Detector) at once. We could control multi-channel optical signals simply like this.

  • 본 논문에서는 FPGA와 마이크로프로세서를 이용하여 One Board화된 무선 콘트롤러 시스템의 기저대역부를 설계 하였다. 송신부에서는 컴퓨터와 연결된 마이크로프로세서부에서 컴퓨터를 통해 입력된 데이터를 병렬로 FPGA부로 전송하여 PN_code를 이용한 대역확산 거쳐 전송하고, 수신부에서는 대역역확산를 사용하여 데이터를 다시 수신측 마이크로프로세서를 통해 확인하였다. FPGA 설계는 Xilinx사의 FPGA 디자인 툴인 Xilinx Foundation3.1을 사용하였으며, FPGA configuration을 위한 타이밍 시뮬레이션을 수행하였고. Xilinx사의 SPARTAN2 2S100PQ208칩에 downloading 한 후 Agilent사의 1681A logic analyzer를 사용하여 설계된 회로의 동작을 확인 하였다. 또한 데이터의 입출력을 CPU부를 통해 컴퓨터에서 모니터링 할 수 있도록 설계하였다.

A Study on Identification and Relative Importance Analysis of Vocational High School Teachers' Teaching Competency for Microprocessor Course on NCS-based Curriculum (NCS 기반 고교 직업교육과정 '전자'교과의 마이크로프로세서 교수역량 규명과 상대적 중요도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the teachers' competency for the NCS-based microprocessor course in the 'electronic,' and analyzed the relative importance among vocational teachers' competencies. Findings were (1) the teaching competencies for the microprocessor course consists of 8 major factors and 22 sub-factors, and (2) the AHP gained the result of the relative importance of the teaching competencies. In conclusion, the programming was identified as the most critical competency, suggested a guidelines for Microprocessor course to use in vocational schools.

  • In this paper, we implemented high-performance concurrent control system which manages whole RF systems with digital type and communicates with remote station on both wire and wireless networking. It consists of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) part which controls forward/reverse LPA (Linear Power Amplifier), forward/reverse LNA (Low Noise Amplifier), channel cut wire/wireless TCP/IP, etc, master microprocessor (AVR), which manages the whole control system, Slave microprocessor which communicates SA (Spectrum Analyzer) and observes frequency spectrum of each channel with the resolution of 5KHz, 10 channel card microprocessor which independently observes each channel card and sets frequency synthesizer in channel cut and other peripherals and logics. The whole system is divided to two parts of H/W (hardware) and S/W (software) considering operational efficiency and concurrency, and implementation and cost. H/W consists of FPGA and microprocessor. We expected the optimized operation through H/W and SW co-design and hybrid H/W architecture.

  • 제품의 고급화, 정밀화, 생산성의 행상, 그리고 원가절감이 요구되는 요즈음 컴퓨터를 이용한 온라인 계측, 데이타처리 그리고 제어가 기계공학에서 차지하는 중요성이 점점 더 크게 인식되고 있다. 더욱 동력비와 연료비가 계속 상승하고 있기 때문에 건물에너지시스템, 화학공정시스템과 기타 에너지사용시스템의 온라인 모니터링(on-line moritiring)과 최적제어(에너지 사용비절감)을 위한)가 어느 때 보다도 중요성이 고조되고 있다. 본 해설을 통해서 마이크로프로세서 응용의 중요성과 일반적 방법을 잠시 생각해 보고자 한다.

  • 마이크로 프로세서의 개발과정에서 성능평가의 중요성이 점차 증가하고 있다. 이것은 사용자에게 보다 설득력있는 데이터를 제공하는 의미를 가진다는 것과 함께 개발된 마이크로 프로세서의 성능향상요인을 분석해내고 또한 시스템의 설계에 프로세서의 특성을 보다 효율적으로 반영한다는 점에서 중요하다고 하겠다. 본 논문에서는 ARM 7 프로세서의 성능을 측정하기 위한 도구(시뮬레이터)의 개발에 관해 설명한다.

Acceleration of LU-SGS Code on Latest Microprocessors Considering the Increase of Level 2 Cache Hit-Rate (최신 마이크로프로세서에서 2차 캐쉬 적중률 증가를 고려한 LU-SGS 코드의 가속)

  • An approach for composing a performance optimized computational code is suggested for latest microprocessors. The concept of the code optimization, called here as localization, is maximizing the utilization of the second level cache that is common to all the latest computer system, and minimizing the access to system main memory. In this study, the localized optimization of LU-SGS (Lower-Upper Symmetric Gauss-Seidel) code for the solution of fluid dynamic equations was carried out in three different levels and tested for several different microprocessor architectures most widely used in these days. The test results of localized optimization showed a remarkable performance gain up to 7.35 times faster solution, depending on the system, than the baseline algorithm for producing exactly the same solution on the same computer system.

  • 마이크로프로세서 기술의 발전으로 멀티코어 저전력 x86 및 ARM CPU 기반의 마이크로서버가 출현하였다. 초기 마이크로서버는 기존 서버보다 작은 크기에 단순 집적도를 높인 구조에서 내 외부 스위치와 스토리지, 관리, 내부 연결망까지 기존의 랙 시스템을 대체 할 마이크로서버가 시장에 출시되고 있다. 특히 마이크로서버 시장에 ARM 프로세서의 가세로 x86 프로세서와 치열한 경쟁이 예상되고 있다. 본고를 통하여 마이크로서버의 특징과 시장, 제품 등에 관해서 살펴보도록 한다.
