Evaluation of Efficacy of PoulShot® MG-F Vaccine against Mycoplasma gallisepticum Infection in the Layer Farms (PoulShot® MG-F 백신의 마이코플라즈마 감염증에 대한 산란계 농장에서의 야외 효능 평가)

  • Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) infection results in severe economic loss in the poultry industry. In the previous reports, F strain, one of the MG live vaccine strains, could protect the bird from field infection of MG strains. In this study, efficacy of PoulShot$^{(R)}$ MG-F vaccine againset mycoplasma gallisepticum infection was evaluated for filed application in commercial layers. Commercial layers from two different farms received with PoulShot$^{(R)}$ MG-F, MG-F live vaccine at 9~14 weeks of age. Serological immune response to MG vaccine, the persistency of MG vaccine strain in the upper respiratory tracts and egg production rate were evaluated in the vaccinated, contacted or nonvaccinated flocks. The serological response was first detected at 3 weeks after vaccination (WAV) and persisted for 31 WAV. The MG vaccine strains were also persisted for 31 WAV based on the reisolation and PCR detection. There was no difference between the vaccinated or non-vaccinated flocks in the egg production rate but in the abnormality rate of eggs. Based on the above results, we suggested that the PoulShot$^{(R)}$, MG-F live vaccine was fully immunogenic and had characteristics of long persistence in the upper respiratory trachea which will reduce economic loss caused by MG infection in the layer farms.

  • Mycoplasma pneumoniae produces illness in man ranging from mild upper respiratory tract infection to severe bronchitis and pneumonia. We experienced a case of mycoplasma pneumonia complicated with acute respiratory failure, cold agglutinin hemolytic anemia, pleural effusion, Raynaud's phenominon and hepatitis in 27-year-old female. She was diagnosed as having mycoplasma pneumonia by detecting mycoplasma antibody and cold agglutinin test and treated effectively with erythromycin.

  • Poultry production in korea is a very complex situation. Large modernized farms and old styles of small farming coexist with one another. This gives rise to a tangled epidemiological situation in terms of infectious diseases. The main poultry diseases of economic importance are colibacillosis, pullorum diseases, Mycoplasma gallisepticum infection, infectious coryza, infectious synovitis, Newcasyle disease, fowl pox, Marek's disease, avian encephalomyelitis, infectious bursal disease, infectious laryngotracheitis, infectious bronchitis and coccidiosis. Avian influenza, fowl cholera and fowl typhoid have not been reported for a few decades, and these are rated as exotic diseases.

Changes of Intracellular Calcium after Administration of Pathogenic and Non-pathogenic Mycoplasmas in Porcine Ciliated Tracheal Cells (돼지 기관지 섬모상피에서 병원성 및 비병원성 마이코플라즈마 투여후 세포내 칼슘의 변화)

  • 병원성 Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae strain 91-3, 비병원성 M. hyopneumoniae 그리고 M. flocculare를 돼지의 기관지섬모상피에 투여시 세포내 $Ca^{2+}$ 농도 [$Ca^{2+]}$$_{i}$ 의 변화를 본 연구에서 조사하였다. M. hyopneumoniae strain 91-3 (300-$\mu\textrm{g}$ml)를 투여시 기관지 섬모상피내의 $Ca^{2+}$가 투여전과 비교시 투여 후 250$\pm$19 nM (net increase)증가하였다 (10회 반복 47 cells). 이와는 대조적으로 비병원성 M. hyopneumoniae (300 $\mu\textrm{g}$ml) (6회 반복 18 cells)와 M. flocculare (300 $\mu\textrm{g}$ml) (8회 반복 24 cells)는 세포내 $Ca^{2+}$의 농도를 증가시키지 못하였다. 위의 결과로 병원성 M. hyopneumoniae 91-3 균주는 비병원성 mycoplasma와는 다르게 돼지의 섬모상피에서 [$Ca^{2+}$]$_{i}$ 을 유도하였으며 이러한 특성은 mycoplasma 감염증 치료에 중요한 단서를 제공할 뿐만 아니라 새로운 치료법의 개발에 유용한 스크리닝 기술에 응용될 것으로 기대된다.

Evaluation of vaccination against Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae in pigs at different vaccination time-points (돼지 마이코플라즈마 폐렴 예방백신의 접종시기별 방어효과에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the effect of commercial swine mycoplasma vaccine (M+$Pac^{(R)}$, Schering-Plough Animal HealthCo.) at different vaccination time points. Total 139 piglets were moved to experimental farm after weaning and were randomly allocated to 3 treatment groups and 1 control group. Piglets of 3 treatment groups (A, B and C) were vaccinated twice at 1 and 3 weeks (A group), 3 and 5 weeks (B), and 6 and 8 weeks (C), respectively. All vaccinates showed higher antibody titers compared with nonvaccinates, and maintained to finish (P<0.001). Performance and RBC/WBC count showed no significant difference between groups. Vaccinates at 6-8 weeks showed better effect on decrease of clinical sign compared with vaccinates at 1-3 weeks and 3-5 weeks and nonvaccinates. Also, lung lesion assessment showed significant difference between vaccinates at 3-5 weeks and 6-8 weeks, and nonvaccinates and vaccinates at 1-3 weeks (P<0.05). Vaccinates at 3-5 score in comparison with other groups. In conclusion, these results suggested that vaccination at 3-5 weeks or later may be more effective than earlier vaccination.

  • Today swine respiratory disease is one of the most important diseases because of its economic losses and severe infection nationwide, and swine society as well as veterinary service are trying to prevent the diseases in Korea. This study would like to obtain some information useful for the control of the diseases. A total of 174 lung specimens with lesion consisted of 3 sorts; 60 were collected from nursey pigs requested for diagnostic service from March of 2006 to October of 2007, 58 finishing pigs and 56 sows were selected from slaughterhouse from September to November 2007. In the detection test of pathogens by PCR, porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2), porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae were positive in 95.4%, 31.6%, and 20.1%, respectively. Double infection rate with PCV2 and PRRS was 30.4%, PCV2 and M hyopneumoniae was 19.5%, triple infection with PCV2, PRRS and M hyopneumoniae was 5.7%, respectively.

무혈청 배양액을 이용한 한우의 체외수정란 생산

  • 난자의 체외성숙 및 체외배양에는 일반적으로 동물의 혈청을 기본배양액에 5-10% 정도 첨가한 배양액을 사용하고 있다. 그러나, 혈청으로부터 바이러스, 세균, 마이코 플라즈마 등에 오염될 가능성이 있기 때문에, 본 실험에서는 완전 무혈청 배양액에서 난자의 성숙, 배발생, 세포수, 동결성을 검토하였다. 도축된 한우의 난소로부터 채취한 난자는 선별하여 TCM199+10% FBS와 IVMD 101 배양액에서 22~24시간 동안 체외성숙시킨 후, IVF 100(일본, 펩티트연구소)으로 2회 세정한 후, 각각의 배양액 50${\mu}\ell$ 소적에 5개씩 5~6 시간 수정시켰다. 체외수정한 수정란은 TCM 199+10% FBS, IVMD 101, IVD 101 배양액에서 7~8일간 배양하여 배발생율을 조사하였다. 발생된 배반포의 일부는 세포수를 조사하였고 나머지 배반포는 1.8M EG로 동결하였다.   • 최근 오리 농가수 및 사육수수의 급격한 증가와 규모화가 빠르게 진행되어 왔으나 각종 질병(전염성질병, 비전염성질병, 중독증 등)에 대한 피해가 크게 발생되고 있지만 이들 질병들이 어느 때 얼마만큼 피해가 주고 있는지 상황파악이 아주 미흡한 상태이다. 이렇게 농가수와 사육수가 늘어난 근본적인 이유는 외식산업의 발달과 붉은 고기이면서도 건강에 좋다는 선호도가 높아지면서 오리산업의 외형적 성장에 그 기반을 두고 있다. 오리에서 발생되는 질병으로는 오리패혈증(리메렐라 감염증), 오리 바이러스성 간염, 대장균증, 살모넬 라감염증, 마이코플라즈마병, 오리바이러스성 장염, 조류인플루엔자, 보튤리눔중독증 등 다양하며 국내에서는 오리바이러스성 장염을 제외한 위에 기술된 모든 질병이 현재 발생되고 있는 것으로 추정되고 있다. 위에 기술된 질병들 중에서 현재 가장 문제가 되고 있는 질병으로는 오리패혈증과 오리 바이러스성간염이다.

The incidence of Enzootic pneumonia(Mycoplasma hyopneumonia) of pigs slaughtered in Southern Kangwon area (강원남부지역 출하돈에 대한 유행성폐렴(마이코플라즈마성폐렴) 분포조사)

  • Seasonal incident rates were examined from the 981 pigs slaushtered in southern Kang-won and distribution of lesions and histopathological examination were conducted from 231 Enzootic pneumonia affected lungs. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. 39.7∼50.2% of 981 slaughtered pigs showed pneumonia lesions without seasonal variation and the incidence rate of Enzootic pneumonia was 23.5% 2. The distribution of Lesions of Enzootic pneumonia lobes was observed. The right lobes were affected more frequently than the left, and the highest frequency of 79.7% being recorded in the right cardiac lobe followed by the left cardiac, right apical, intermediate, left apical, right diaphrogmatic and diaphrogmatic. 3. In histopatological observation lung lobes were forming Iymphonodulus from perivascular, peribronchiolar Iymphoid hyerplasia and it was remarkable to bronchostenosis.
