The main project of the village mini-library movement is to establish and guide mini-libraries in the rural villages in Korea since 1961 in order to promote reading campaign. The purpose of this study is to examine into early developmental process of Korean mini-library movement from the formative period to 1967. Therefore, this study analyzes the principles of this movement, the policies for rearing mini-libraries, financial accommodation and the performance of this movement in 1960's. The study, in final, reviews the overall figure of the early process of this movement in Korea.

This study is to analyze and interpretate strategies and managing behaviors in order to propel village mini-library movement in Korea from the starting year of the village mini-library to 1980. The strategies conducted for propelling the movement can be divided into two: one is the strategies, as an output goal, related to establishing and managing mini-library; the other the strategies, as a support goal, related to carrying out the movement procedures. Therefore, the study is to examine the two strategies individually using by the qualitative research method such as analyzing related historical records and literatures, interviewing the persons concerned. and organizing the author’s experience.

작은 도서관은 정책이 아닌 시민들의 자발성을 바탕으로 마을마다 부족한 도서관의 인프라를 구축하고자 시작된 풀뿌리 시민운동이자 대안 공동체 운동이다. 1960년대 마을문고 운동으로 시작된 작은 도서관은 현재의 21세기 지식기반사회에 이르기까지 많은 수가 마을 중심에서 지역주민들에 의하여 설립, 운영되고 있으며, 독서실 이미지의 도서관을 벗어나서 진정한 의미의 도서관을 찾아가고 있다. 본 연구에서는 작은 도서관의 개념과 전국의 사례에 비추어 1998년대 후반부터 시작된 대전의 작은 도서관 운동의 현 단계와 발전 방안을 모색해보고자 한다.

This research allows purpose to illuminate Reading Popularization Movement and readers' interest in the 1960's. This period, there were scientific and national interests about 'Reading' as culture from society whole as well as on public education situation. This research describes reading and phenomenons of reading education on the basis of newspaper data mainly in the 1960's, observed formation process of kind of 'Reading society' in sociological side. Detailed research contents as following same. First, it was studied readers' interest, 1) general readers' interest, 2) student readers' interest. Second, it was investigated reading movement, 1) the library and reading movement, 2) village library and reading campaign.

The study aims to study the user perception and satisfaction on the current church library services in Korea. 100 registered attendees and 10 priests, from three different groups were randomly selected for the survey. Three groups - the one with its own library, another with a community type library, and the other without church library - were compared. A literature review and survey were executed, and the questionnaires of the survey for analysis in this research contained demographic information, usage of church library, mission and function of the church library, library space, librarians, collection, community services of the church library, and perception on the effect of the library's community service on a specific religious activity (evangelism). The analysis revealed that the satisfaction level on church library service was relatively high (3.5 point on average, 5-point Likert scale), even though the frequency of using the church library service was relatively low. The study also found that users perceived the library as a community library or archives of the church, and study rooms and reading rooms as its major functions. It reveals that religious materials were preferred as the church library collection and the service of the church library to its community was perceived as being a effective and positive factor on evangelism. Applying church library service should be considered in order to enhance the understanding on the religion and effective results of evangelism.
