The Studies on the Fabrication and Properties of Friction Materials toy Aluminium Alloy Disk (알루미늄 합금 디스크용 마찰재의 제조 및 그 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This article deals with the manufacture and test results of asbestos-free friction material for Aluminium at toy disk. In order to obtain optimum formulation, various formulations of fibres, matrix, modifiers, fillers, etc were designed and evaluated. The constant friction and brake dynamometer tests were performed to know weak and strong point for each friction material. The C21 formulation of various tested formulations exhibited superior friction constant(0.38∼38), fade rate (18%) by JASO C406 test mode and maximum wear 1.6 mm. disc wear 0.08 mm by JASO C427 test mode. The surface morphology of AL alloy disk(before and after test) was observed by Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) and Image Analyzer.

  • 도전성 섬유(Conductive textile)는 섬유자체의 고유 특성을 유지하면서 전기적인 도전 특성을 갖는 섬유로서, Cu, Ag, Ni 등의 전기전도성이 높은 금속 박막을 증착하여 제작하고 있다. 그러나, 이러한 금속은 공기 중의 산소와 결합하여 쉽게 산화되는 특성을 지니고 있기 때문에 사용 중에 산화되어 도전 특성이 감소하는 단점이 있다. TiN은 금속 못지않은 높은 전기전도성을 지니고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 금속에 비하여 높은 경도에 따른 우수한 내마모 특성, 내부식성 및 낮은 마찰계수를 지니고 있다. 그러나, TiN은 경도가 높기 때문에 섬유의 고유 특성인 유연성이 저하되는 문제가 있다. 본 연구에서는 면(Cotton), PE (Polyester), PP (Polypropylene) 등의 섬유 위에 TiN 박막을 증착하여, 섬유의 유연성을 유지하며 전기전도성과 내마모 특성이 우수한 도전성 섬유를 제작하고자 하였다. TiN 박막 증착을 위하여 ICP-assisted pulsed-DC reactive magnetron sputtering 장비를 사용하였으며, Ar:N2 유량비(Flow rate), Ti 타겟 power, ICP RF power 등을 변화시켜 Ti와 N의 조성비를 조절하였고, 이를 통하여 섬유의 휨이나 접힘에도 도전 특성이 변하지 않고 내마모 특성이 우수한 TiN 박막을 증착하였다. TiN 박막이 증착된 섬유의 전기전도도는 일정한 압력 하에 전기전도도를 측정할 수 있는 장치를 제작하여 측정하였으며, 표면 조성 분포 및 접합력 측정을 위하여 XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy)와 Peel-tester를 이용하였다.

  • To resolve environmental problem of waste tire and asbestos and also to capitalize the wastes, we developed a new kind of friction material using scrap tire, potassium hexatitanate, filler, and friction modifier in which rubber made a continuous phase. The material containing 5, 20, 10, 20phr of potassium hexatitanate, phenol, friction modifier, $BaSO_4$, respectively showed good friction properties, high and stable coefficient or friction, and low wear rate.

Wear Properties of Epoxy Matrix Nanocomposites (에폭시 기지 나노복합재료의 마모 특성)

  • The wear behavior of epoxy matrix composites filled with nano sized silica particles is discussed in this paper. Especially, the variation of the coefficient of friction and the wear resistance according to the change of apply load and sliding velocity were investigated for these materials. Wear tests of pin-on-disc mode were carried out and the wear test results exhibited as following ; The epoxy matrix composites showed lower coefficient of friction compared to the neat epoxy through the whole sliding distance. As increasing the sliding velocity the epoxy matrix composites indicated lower coefficient of friction, whereas the neat epoxy showed higher coefficient of friction as increasing the sliding velocity. The specific friction work of both materials were increased with apply load. In case of the epoxy matrix composites, the running in periods of friction were reduced as increase in apply load. The epoxy matrix composites were improved the wear resistance by adding the nano silica particles remarkably. It is expected that the load carrying capacity of the epoxy matrix composites will be improved by increase of Pv factor.

  • Al/SiC composites were fabricated by thermal spray process, and the dry sliding wear tests were performed using the various sliding speed of 10, 30, 60 and 90 RPM through 1000 cycles. The applied load was 10 N and radius of wear track was 15 mm. Wear tracks on the Al/SiC composites were investigated using scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). In the case of sliding speed of 10 RPM, adhesive wear behavior caused by plastic deformation of composits surface was observed. In the cases of sliding speed of 30, 60, 90 RPM, abrasive wear behavior on the adhered layer formed by debris were observed. Through this study, it was found that the wear behavior of Al/SiC composites was mainly influenced by the sliding speed.

  • Los Angeles abrasion loss test has usally been applied to the quarry for the purpose of aggregate hardness estimation. 324 blocks from 25 sites of Kyeongsang basin samples of sedimentary rock were examined and tested in laboratary. This paper found that L. A. abrasion loss test is a good method to estimate engineering index such as uniaxial compressive strength, elastic modulus, indirect tensile strength, point load strength index, Schmidt hammer rebound value of sedimentary rocks with high correlation factor. Engineers will prefer L. A. abrasion loss test to the other one for design and construction as this method is quick and easy.

  • The analysis of lateral hydrodynamic forces in the leakage path between a shrouded pump impeller through wear-ring seal and its housing is presented. Governing equations are derived based on Bulk-flow and Hirs' turbulent lubrication model. By using a perturbation analysis and a numerical integration method, governing equations are solved to yield leakage and rotordynamic coefficients of force developed by the impeller shroud and wear-ring seal. The variation of rotordynamic coefficients of pump impeller shroud and wear-ring seal is analyzed as parameters of rotor speed, pressure difference, shroud clearance, wear-ring seal clearance, and circumferential velocity at the entrance of impeller shroud for a typical multi-stage centrifugal pump.

  • In these days, wear resistance is an essential condition because the relative movement between machine parts is being accelerated and those connected with the drive parts transmit power and force. Also wear resistance is closely related to reliability and life of products, therefore the study on friction and wear is very important in many fields. In this paper, wear test was conducted to know properties about friction and wear of manganese phosphate being used widely. Test type is 1 ball on disk and we compared manganese phosphate thin film with non-coated material. Through this study, we could know the effect of this surface treatment method, and then it is assumed that the reliability of parts will be secure.

  • 본 논문에서는 빔 에너지를 이용하여 내 마모 및 내 부식성을 갖는 철망을 가공하여, 빔 에너지 조사 전과 후의 SEM 사진과 인장강도를 측정하여 비교, 분석 하였다. 전자빔으로 표면을 개질하기 전보다 후의 표면이 더 치밀해짐을 SEM사진을 통하여 볼 수 있었고, 인장강도를 측정 하여 개질 전과 후를 비교 하였는데, 인장강도와 관련된 탄성계수가 더 크게 나타나 전자빔 조사에 의한 샘플이 긴 수명을 갖는 요인이 분석되었다.

  • In order for high strength aluminum alloys to be used in transportation systems and the aerospace industry, excellent mechanical and physical properties are required. In particular, excellent anti-abrasion property is indispensable for parts that require driving force. In general, surface treatment technologies such as high frequency heat treatment, gas solid carburizing, surface rolling, shot peening are used as ways of improving anti-abrasion property. Among various surface treatment technologies, this research chose shot peening processing for Al7075-T6, which is well known as representative high-strength alloy steel. Wear characteristics were compared and analyzed after shot peening processing with shot ball velocities of 40m/s and 70m/s in order to investigate the effects of shot peening processing on wear characteristics.
