Performance Simulation of Turboprop Engine using SIMULINK$\circledR$ (SIMULINK$\circledR$를 이용한 터보프롭 엔진의 성능모사)

  • After modeling an aircraft turboprop engine using SIMULINK$\circledR$, performance simulation of PT6A-62 engine, which is main power plant of KT-1, was performed. For validation, performance parameters of the SIMULIINK model were compared with the simulated results by GASTURB program. It was confirm that the results by the SIMULINK model were well agreed with those by GASTURB within 1.07%, It was assumed that installation losses were bleed-air exteraction with a range from 0% to 5%, and power for accessories with a range from 0 to 20hp. In this investigation, it was found that the shafthorsepower was decreased by maxium 0.68%, but specific fuel consumption ratio was not effected nearly by these losses.

  • The brakes employed on commercial vehicles must be able to withstand three types of demanding services which are use-emergency stops from high speed, many repeated stops as in a delivery or bus route, and speed control in mountain descents. Two type of friction brakes are in use ; drum breaks and disc brakes. Drum brakes are of the internally expanding type in which two shoes fitted externally with friction material are forced outward against the inside of a rotating drum on the wheel unit. In this case, the Braking power is produced by the friction force between a drum and a lining, and is converted into heat. In this research an unsteady state heat transfer analysis for drum brake system of heavy truck has been performed by ABAQUS/standard code in the case of single-braking and the repeated braking condition. The temperature histories obtained by the finite Element analysis have been compared with the result calculated by the simplified formulation and the result obtained by the experiment of real vehicle conditions.

  • This paper presents a position sensorless control system of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) using neural network. The control of SRM depends on the commutation of the stator phases in synchronism with the rotor position. The position sensing requirement increases the overall cost and complexity. In this paper, the current-flux-rotor position lookup table based position sensorless operation of SRM is presented. Neural network is used to construct the current-flux-rotor position lookup table, and is trained by sufficient experimental data. Experimental results for a 1-hp SRM is presented for the verification of the proposed sensorless algorithm.

  • As the hull form of Korean fishing vessels is different from that of Japanese fishing vessels, the statistical regression analysis results of the resistance estimation for the Japanese fishing vessels is not able to be employed for the Korean fishing vessels just as it is. In this paper, it is introduced to an effective horsepower estimation method for the Korean domestic coastal fishing vessels, which is based on the statistical regression analysis of the model test results of the Japanese fishing vessels and the adjustment of those regression factors using the hull form data and model test results of Korean fishing vessels. The estimation results of the effective horsepower using the present prediction method are compared with experimental data. The comparison results show good agreements in the conventional speed range of fishing vessels.

  • Hull form development of the medium size high speed fishery patrol ship was carried out in the CWC at Chosun university. Same size of 15 knots class fishery patrol ship was selected as a parent form(Model number : CU-015), and modified fore and after body hull form under the slightly lengthened lo be suitable for the operation at 20 knots. To minimize the breaking wave in the vicinity of fore body at high speed zone, high bulb and sharp entrance angle were adapted. Meanwhile, to enlarge the engine room space keeping high resistance and sea-keeping Performance, U-type stern hull form was developed. Although the hull form was highly constrained in being limited to modification of a parent hull form significant wave resistance improvement was made.

  • 고온 초전도 전력기기는 상전도 전력기기에 비해, 중량과 부피가 작고 전력손실이 거의 없어 효율이 높고 대용량기기에 많은 장점을 지니고 있으며 또한 환경 친화적이다. 대형화가 요구되는 선박추진용 모터를 초전도 모터로 사용할 경우 저속 및 고 토크의 모터를 제작할 수 있고, 계자 권선과 전기자 권선을 초전도 선재로 사용함으로써 높은 전류밀도와 고 자장이 가능하여 고효율 및 소형 경량화 등의 장점이 있다. 그러나 전초전도 모터의 경우 얇은 테이프 형태의 초전도 선재의 특성으로 인해 구리선처럼 가공이 힘들고, 선재를 초전도 상태로 만들기 위한 냉각이 필요하다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 동기모터와 선형모터를 혼합하여 고정자에 위치한 racetrack type의 전기자 권선뿐만아니라 회전자에 자기장을 발생시키는 계자 권선도 회전자가 아니라 고정자부분에 위치하므로 구조상 견고하고 냉각등에 장점이 있는 호모폴라 모터를 제안하였으며 자기저항의 변화가 작은 구조로 토크 리플이 작으므로 소음과 진동이 적은 모터를 설계하였다. 설계 결과로부터 호모폴라 모터를 제작하였으며 레이스트렉형과 팬케이크 권선의 임계전류등을 측정하였다. 추후 호모폴라 모터의 성능시험을 진행할 예정이다.

  • In this paper, we developed DSP(Digital Signal Processor)-based control system to automatically open and close passive filter, which is used to reduce harmonics, according to operating condition of loads. Passive filter control system automatically open and close each branch of filter according to working conditions of loads by sending signals to open and close installation of passive filter after measuring and monitoring voltage, current, harmonics, reactive power, power factor and so on. We verified it's performance by connecting control system with passive filter in the power line using the 100HP D.C motor drive, opening and closing passive filter according to operation condition of motor, and measuring harmonics and reactive power, etc.

  • Foil air bearing, which is a noncontact bearing utilizing viscosity of operating fluid and elastic deformation of foil structure, has several advantages over rolling element bearings in terms of oilless environment, long life, high speed operation, and high temperature application over $500^{\circ}C$ . Recently advanced researches are actively being performed for the application to the extreme temperature such as gas turbines, as well as conventional small turbo machinery. In this paper, the principle of foil air bearing is introduced and a feasibility study to adopt a foil bearing as the turbine bearing of 65 HP turbo shaft engine, which is under development for UAV, is presented.

  • There are screw, reciprocating and turbo compressor by structure in an air compressor, essential equipment on he industrial spot. Resently it is wide that the range of turbo compressor's use in gradual, turbo compressor needs high speed rotation of impeller in structure, high rated gearbox and conventional induction motor. This mechanical system increased the moment of inertia and mechanical friction loss. Resently the study of turbo compressor applied super high speed motor and drive, removing gearbox made its size small and mechanical friction loss minimum. In this study we tried to develope variable super high speed motor drive systems for 150Hp, 70,000rpm drect drive Turbo compressor. The result of study is applied to a 150Hp direct turbo compressor and makes it goods.

Experimental study on the estimating effective horse power of a bottom trawl ship (저층 트롤선의 유효마력 산정에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In order to estimate the effective horse power(EHP) in towing net of a bottom trawl ship, the ship's resistance was calculated by using a series data of Yamagata and Wigley formula. Also the effective horse power for a ship(EHPs) was estimated versus the ship speed in sailing and the propulsive efficiency was calculated with the brake horse power and the effective horse power. Then the effective horse power for a ship and a trawl net were estimated in the application of the propulsive efficiency in towing net. The total effective horse power($EHP_T$) was average 187.6kW and the effective horse power for a 1.awl net($EHP_n$) was average 176.7kW at a smooth sea state in towing net. The ratio of $EHP_n$ to $EHP_T$ was about 94.0% and the value was higher slightly than was already informed at a smooth sea state. The power for keeping up a townet speed was required more about 20% of a maximum continuous power at a rather rough sea state than a smooth sea state. In the future, if the residual resistance is considered with a sea state, $EHP_n$ will be estimated more correctly Also the data of EHP estimated by this method will be used as the basic data to design a trawl net.
