Experimental Study of Magnesium Dust Combustion Flame on the Temperature Measurement According to Equivalence Ratio and Particle Size (혼합비와 입자 크기에 따른 마그네슘 입자군 연소 화염의 실험)

  • Combustion of magnesium dust particle were fabricated test devices and combustion experiments were carried out. The ignition delay time were measured in change of magnesium particle mass flow rate in premixed flame. According to increasing magnesium particle mass flow rate, ignition delay time were more shorter. In addition, magnesium dust combustion temperature were measured different particle sizes and o/f ratio by two wavelength pyrometry. Dust combustion flame temperature is almost similarly, through to equivalence ratio, confirm the combustion flame temperature range characteristics.

  • 마그네슘 합금은 자동차, 항공기, 기계 및 휴대용 전기전자 부품 등에 적용을 위해 많은 연구들이 진행되어 왔다. 현재 마그네슘 합금의 실용화에 있어서 가장 큰 걸림돌 중 하나는 불충분한 내식성이다. 마그네슘 합금의 내식성은 표면의 자연적으로 형성되는 피막의 보호성 및 2상 입자들의 존재에 의한 갈바닉 부식에 의해 영향을 받는다. 본 논문에서는 AZ31 마그네슘 합금의 내부에 포함되어 있는 캐소딕 불순물 입자들과 자연산화피막 그리고 화학적 또는 전기화학적으로 형성된 산화피막들이 합금의 내식성에 미치는 영향에 대해서 연구하였다.

Synthesis and Surface Modification of Magnesium Hydroxide by Hydrothermal Method (수열법에 의한 수산화 마그네슘의 합성과 표면개질)

  • Magnesium hydroxide[$Mg(OH)_2$] was prepared by hydrothermal method using oleic acid as surface modifier. $Mg(OH)_2$ particles exhibit flake morphology with micrometer in size and the surface modification starts from the reaction of $C_{17}H_{33}COO^-$ group, derived from oleic acid molecule in alkaline environments. It is found that hydrothermal treatment conditions such as pH, temperature and reaction time are important for the control of the morphology and properties of surface modified magnesium hydroxide. The obtained magnesium hydroxide groups were characterized by FE-SEM, XRD, FT-IR, TGA. The dispersion in organic solution was determined by sedimentation test and compared with the result of raw $Mg(OH)_2$.

  • A simplified analytical study for micro-sized single metal particle combustion in air was conducted in the present study. The metal particle combustion consists of two distinct reaction regimes, ignition and quasi-steady burning, and the thermo-fluidic phenomena in each stage are formulated by virtue of the conservation and transport equations. When particle temperature reaches to 1200 K, ended an ignition stage and was converted at quasi-steady combustion stage. Effects of Initial particle size, convection, ambient pressure and temperature are examined and addressed with validation.

  • Nickel(Ni) powders were prepared from the mixture of nickel chloride and magnesium stearate by a hydrogen reduction process, and the effect of reaction temperature and the addition of magnesium stearate on the chracteristics of the powders were investigated. The effect of size reduction of nickel particles was observed in the presence of magnesium stearate owing to the inhibition of excess growth of paricles. The size reduction and the degree of agglomeration of the particles affected by the amounts of liqiud phase, which related to the increase of magnesium stearate.

  • Hydrophobic magnesium hydroxide [$Mg(OH)_2$] was modified by hydrothermal method using non-ionic sorbitol surfactant with Span series. Mganesium chloride [$MgCl_2$] and sodium hydroxide [NaOH] were used for synthesis of $Mg(OH)_2$. Also non-ionic surfactant were added as a stabilizer, dispersant and surface modifier. Addition of non-ionic surfactant was favourable to obtain small sized $Mg(OH)_2$ particles with better dispersibility and hydrophobic property of $Mg(OH)_2$ particles. The obtained product were characterized by particle size analysis(PSA), scanning electron microscope(SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS), x-ray diffraction(XRD) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR). The results show that the product are prepared with this method has a well hydrophobic properties and dispersity compared with unmodified $Mg(OH)_2$ particles. The improve properties of surface modified $Mg(OH)_2$ particles were also verified by similarity synthesizing under slightly different conditions.

  • 용융(熔融) 마그네슘 중(中) SiC입자분산거동(粒子分散擧動)에 미치는 합금원소(合金元素)의 영향에 대하여 조사(調査)하였다. 마그네슘 중(中) Sic입자(粒子)의 분산(分散)을 위한 소요시간(所要時間)은 총시간(總時間)으로 정의(定義)했다. 총시간(總時間)은 Ce, Mn, Cr, Bi, Pb, Sn 및 Zn을 첨가(添加)하여도 총시간(總時間)은 지연되었고 입괴성(粒塊成)의 수(數)는 많이 나타났다.

  • Recently, magnesium hydroxide ($Mg(OH)_2$) has many applications in various field, due to its outstanding characteristics such as a nontoxic, noncorrosive and thermal stable properties. In this study, different shapes of flower and flake type magnesium hydroxide were synthesized by precipitation method at room temperature using $MgSO_4$, $MgCl_2$ and $Mg(NO_3)_2$ as magnesium sources, NaOH and $NH_3$ as alkaline sources. Influence of synthesis on the morphological characteristics, sizes and shapes of magnesium hydroxide particles, was investigated, such as different precursors and parameters. The shape of magnesium hydroxide depend on magnesium and alkali sources. Average size of flower particle had about $1{\mu}m$, and flake had about 20 ~ 50 nm. The synthesised magnesium hydroxide groups were characterized by XRD, FE-SEM, FT-IR, EDS, PSA and TG.

  • 본 연구에서는 AZ31 마그네슘 합금의 내식성을 향상시키기 위하여 플라즈마 전해산화(PEO, plasma electrolytic oxidation)법을 이용하여 다양한 용액에서 양극 및 음극 펄스전류를 인가하여 형성하였다. 형성된 PEO피막의 두께는 용액 중 음이온의 종류에 가장 크게 의존하였으며, PEO 피막의 표면거칠기는 피막의 두께가 두꺼울수록 더 커지는 결과를 얻었다. PEO피막의 경도는 규산이온이 포함된 용액에서 형성된 피막이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 알루미나 입자들과 같이 단단한 입자들을 용액 중에 포함시킬 경우 피막 내부에 함침되어 피막의 경도를 향상 시킬 수 있었다.

  • This study was used homomixer as one of the manufacturing method to establish optimal manufacturing condition with magnesium chloride emulsion as coagulant. The more rotational speed of homomixer was fast, the more particle size of magnesium chloride emulsion was minute. The particle size was distributed between 1 and $5{\mu}m$. The more minute particle size of emulsion had an effect on increasing viscosity of emulsion and delay of oil phase separation during storage period, so the quality of magnesium chloride emulsion had correlation with dispersed phase particle size. After all the experiments, when manufacturing magnesium chloride emulsion, it used more than 10,000 rpm of rotational speed of homomixer, it showed the best result as coagulant according to the state of texture and the water separation ratio of soybean curd.
