  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of eyeshadow color (brown, purple, and blue), lipstick color (red, red purple, and yellow red), and lipstick tone (vivid, light, dull, and dark) on impression formation. Sets of stimulus and response scales (7 point semantic) were used as experimental materials. The stimuli were 36 color pictures manipulated with the combination of eyeshadow color, lipstick color, and lipstick tone using computer simulation. The subjects were 216 female undergraduates living in Jinju city. Impression factor of the stimulus was composed of 4 different components, attractiveness and gracefulness, visibility, cuteness, and softness, of which the first two were important. Eyeshadow color, lipstick color, and lipstick tone independently influenced the attractiveness and gracefulness and visibility. In the cuteness and softness, eyeshadow color and lipstick tone showed independent effect. In the interaction effect, the combination of lipstick color and lipstick tone showed significant effect on the attractiveness and gracefulness, visibility, and cuteness. Finally, it was found that the combination of eveshadow color and tpstick tone showed significant difference in the softness.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of eyeshadow color (brown, purple, and blue), lipstick color (red, orange, and purple), and lipstick tone(vivid, light, dull, and dark) on the makeup image. The experimental materials used for this study were sets of stimulus and response scales (7 point semantic). The stimuli were 36 color pictures manipulated with the combination of eyeshadow color, lipstick color, and lipstick tone using computer simulation. The subjects were 216 female undergraduates living in Jinju city. The data was analyzed by using SPSS program. Analyzing methods were ANOVA and Duncan test. The result of this study are as follows. Image factor of the stimulus was composed of 4 different components (attractiveness and gracefulness, visibility, cuteness, and softness), Among them, the attractiveness and gracefulness and the visibility were important. Each dimensional image was affected by color coordination of eyeshadow color, lipstick color and lipstick tone. Therefore, the face image through matching eyeshadow and lipstick could be varied by the eyeshadow color, lipstick color and tones.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of makeup, clothing tone and clothing style on wearer's with same color coordination of lipstick and clothing. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimulus and response scales (7-point scale semantic). The stimuli were 64 color pictures were manipulated by computer simulation. This experiment design was $2{\times}2{\times}4{\times}4$ factorial design. The stimuli were a set of eyeshadow color(brown), clothing style (formal style of Jacket / skirt and casual style of cardigan / pants), lipstick and clothing color (red and orange), lipstick tone(vivid, light, dull and dark), clothing tone(vivid, light, dull and dark). The subjects of this research were 384 female undergraduates living in Gyeongsangnam-do. The investigation was carried out at a lecture hall at the time between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in May 2006. The data were analyzed using SPSS program. Factor analysis, 4-way ANOVA, t-test, and Duncan test were used as analysis methods. Image factors according to variation of clothing style, clothing color, and makeup color are composed of 4 different dimensions (visibility, attractiveness, tenderness, and stability). In dimension of the visibility, the image was perceived to be glowing and luxurious regardless of lipstick tone and lipstick color in the case of the vivid tone clothing. According to the variation of clothing style, clothing color and tone, makeup color composed of eyeshadow color, lipstick color and tone, it was investigated that the images for a clothing wearer were expressed diversely, were shown differently in image dimensions, and could be produced to different images. The analysis data for images according to the combination of makeup and clothing color, tone, and style thus provide basic material for image consulting or color coordination.

  • This study aimed to provide the fundamental data on the field of cosmetics by comparing heavy metal concentration in terms of domestic/foreign products, types and colors. The study determined the concentrations of lead, cadmium, arsenic, chromium, antimony, nickel, copper and cobalt in cosmetics such as lipstick, lip gloss, lip balm, foundation and eye liner. From the period of January to August, 2013, 121 samples were collected from cosmetic stores distributing to the general market. The average metal concentrations were as follows; $0.663{\mu}g/g$ for lead, $0.010{\mu}g/g$ for cadmium, $0.056{\mu}g/g$ for arsenic, $1.144{\mu}g/g$ for chromium, $0.008{\mu}g/g$ for antimony, $0.405{\mu}g/g$ for nickel, $0.319{\mu}g/g$ for copper and $0.108{\mu}g/g$ for cobalt. Except for chromium, the heavy metal concentrations were significantly higher in foreign products than in domestic products (p < 0.05). Also, The mean concentrations of heavy metal were significantly different (p < 0.05) when classified by cosmetic type. The highest mean concentrations shown in lipstick were $1.430{\mu}g/g$ of chromium, $0.616{\mu}g/g$ of lead and $0.385{\mu}g/g$ of nickel, in foundation $1.155{\mu}g/g$ of lead and $1.023{\mu}g/g$ of chromium. In eye liner, the highest mean concentrations were $1.424{\mu}g/g$ of chromium and $0.830{\mu}g/g$ of nickel. Additionally, The concentrations of heavy metal were significantly different by color (p < 0.05). Brown colored cosmetics were found to have the highest mean concentrations of chromium, nickel and copper, ivory colored cosmetics the highest mean concentrations of chromium and lead, and pink colored cosmetics the highest concentrations of lead and chromium.
