Development of a New Concept Rotary Engine (II) - Performance Analysis of Real Cycle - (신개념 로터리 엔진의 개발(II) - 실제 사이클의 성능 분석 -)

  • This study was carried out to propose a new-concept internal combustion engine which has great potential advantages to the conventional engines. Proposed new-concept engine is a kind of rotary engine. A rotor is rotating concentrically in a cylinder which is divided into two partitioning valves, and it makes four compartments in the cylinder. The volumes of each of four compartments are changing continuously with the rotor movement and performs the functions of intake, compression. expansion and exhaust simultaneously. Expected thermal efficiency for the real cycle is 26 percent at conditions of 1,000 rpm and compression ratio of 8.0, which is 3 to 4 percent higher than that of the conventional engines such as the piston engine, gas turbine and Wankel rotary engine. A simulation procedure proved that the new concept engine is functional, and has many potential advantages compared to the existing conventional engines.

  • In order to control the hybrid power system efficiently, the knowledge for the required load of the system is important. The agricultural tractor performs various farm works such as plow, rotary, and baler. When it performs rotary tillage and baler operation, the generated work load is analyzed. To analyze trend of work load, moving average technique is applied to the measurement data. Optimal control inputs for the two works are obtained from simulation using the dynamic programming. The novel fundamental control strategy for parallel hybrid tractor called Max. SOC is proposed.

  • Using the design variables and conditions reported in the rut part of this paper, an analysis and optimum design of the tractor-rotary power driveline were carried out. The optimum design method involved 1 variable, 2 variable and multiple variable analysis performed as requested in the design process. In order to evaluate the effects of the design variables on the power transmission performance a sensitivity analysis were also conducted. the results indicated that the length and link point of the upper link, the upper hitch point of the implement master and the location of the implement input connection affect most significantly the driveline performance. The optimum design improved the performance of an exampled tractor-rotary driveline by 93% in terms of cosine ratio.

  • This paper proposes the rotary actuator to apply the designed actuator to the drive of the CF II size. New focus magnetic circuit is considered at this research. The rotary actuator including this circuit is designed to have the dynamic characteristic satisfying the mechanical specification as well as the portable devices. Finally, the adaptability to the portable devices was demonstrated by the finite element analysis and optimization of structural part.

  • 전통적인 유리병 부식 공정에서는 공정 투입 전 유리병을 홀더에 장착하는 수작업으로 인해 작업자들의 노동강도가 매우 크고, 부식에 사용되는 불산의 증발로 인한 위험 요소가 매우 크게 나타나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 병부식 공정을 자동화해주는 로터리 방식 부식 장비와 병을 홀더플레이트에 자동으로 장입하고 부식 후에 탈거하는 메커니즘 개발하고 시제품을 제작하여 이의 성능과 효과를 평가하였다. 그 결과로 노동집약적인 병 장입작업을 자동화하여 힘든 장입작업을 하던 작업자의 노동강도를 덜어줄 수 있었고, 불산으로부터 작업자를 이격시켜서 잠재적인 산업재해를 예방하여 작업환경을 개선하였다.

  • Shell vibrations of the rotary compressor, which account for considerable portion of the noise from compressor, are caused by various sources. Among them is the vibration of the in nor part or cylinder assembly, which undergoes severe compression process and rotational motion. But little researches have been carried out about the behavior and effect of the inner part because of its structural complexity. Furthermore, the shell of the rotary compressor is hermetic type that experimental approach is very difficult. This research studied the structure-born noise of the Rotary compressor using FE an analysis. The comparison between sound pressure spectrum and natural frequencies of the shell vibration implies that shell vibrations contribute significantly to the noise. It is found that inner part vibrations are responsible for those through the FE analysis. Design modification of the inner part, which shifts the target frequencies, reduced overall noise level of the compressor.

  • 본 연구에서는 전방항성 초음파 액추에이터의 제작, 시뮬레이션, 구동 드라이버 제작, 제어 방법에 대하여 연구하였다. 우선, 시뮬레이션 툴인 ATILA를 사용하여 전방향성 초음파 액추에이터를 설계하였고 구동 주파수, 어드미턴스 특성 그리고 액추에이터의 움직임을 분석하여 최적의 구동 주파수 영역을 파악하였다. 실제 구동을 확인하기 위하여 액추에이터 스테이지와 구동 드라이버를 개발 하였다. 전방항성 액추에이터 스테이지의 구조는 액추에이터와 4개의 볼 베어링이 알루미나 볼을 압착하는 형태이며 세라믹에 인가되는 사인파의 위상차에 의하여 4개의 방향으로 구동 할 수 있다. 또한, 액추에이터를 위치 제어를 위하여 로터리 엔코더 두 개를 사용하여 구의 움직임을 파악하였고 PID 제어기법을 사용하여 액추에이터의 움직임을 제어하였다. 스테이지 구조상 엔코더의 $70^{\circ}$ 내에서만 구동 가능하며, 실험 결과를 통하여 전방향성 초음파 액추에이터는 약 $1.2^{\circ}$의 분해능을 가지고 구동영역 내 원하는 좌표로의 이동이 가능했고, 향후 고 정밀 관절 및 인공 눈에 응용 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

  • A rotary vane blower was developed as an air supply system for fuel cell application. As one way of improving the blower efficiency, a roller was adapted between vanes and cylinder housing. The performance of blower was investigated experimentally. The blower power input was about 115W to compress the air at normal atmospheric condition to 0.2 bar with the flow rate of 140 NLPM, resulting in the blower overall efficiency of 43%. After 400 hours of operation, the performance of blower was not changed. The result showed that developed blower was confirmed to be suitable for fuel cell application.

  • In this paper, we show the design of a rotary joint transition for the X-band channel in a rotatable microwave communication system. The transition seems complicated to make a channel between two coaxial cables through a cylindrical waveguide. To make a broad-band performance in the X-band with low insertion loss and return loss given the constraint on the length and radius of this complicated-looking cylindrical structure, Genetic Algorithm optimization is adopted to check the validity of an intensive parametric study in the design. The structure is fabricated and tested to show how valid the design method is as well as good frequency responses.

  • A rotary kiln furnace is one of the most widely used gas-solid reactors in the industrial field. Although the rotary kiln is a versatile system and has different size, approach to the reactor modeling can be generalized in terms of flow motion of the solid and gas phases, heat transfer, and chemical reactions on purpose. In this paper, starting from a zero-dimensional model and extending to higher dimension and comprehensive models, overall procedure of the design development of rotary kiln reactors and considerations are presented. The approaches to performance analysis of the reactors are introduced and examples of application cases are presented.
