Comparison study on kernel type estimators of discontinuous log-variance (불연속 로그분산함수의 커널추정량들의 비교 연구)

  • In the regression model, Kang and Huh (2006) studied the estimation of the discontinuous variance function using the Nadaraya-Watson estimator with the squared residuals. The local linear estimator of the log-variance function, which may have the whole real number, was proposed by Huh (2013) based on the kernel weighted local-likelihood of the ${\chi}^2$-distribution. Chen et al. (2009) estimated the continuous variance function using the local linear fit with the log-squared residuals. In this paper, the estimator of the discontinuous log-variance function itself or its derivative using Chen et al. (2009)'s estimator. Numerical works investigate the performances of the estimators with simulated examples.

  • Due to the nonnegativity of variance, most of nonparametric estimations of discontinuous variance function have used the Nadaraya-Watson estimation with residuals. By the modification of Chen et al. (2009) and Yu and Jones (2004), Huh (2014, 2016a) proposed the estimators of the log-variance function instead of the variance function using the local linear estimator which has no boundary effect. Huh (2016b) estimated the variance function using the adjusted squared residuals by the estimated jump size in the discontinuous variance function. In this paper, we propose an estimator of the discontinuous log-variance function using the local linear estimator with the adjusted log-squared residuals by the estimated jump size of log-variance function like Huh (2016b). The numerical work demonstrates the performance of the proposed method with simulated and real examples.

  • Let us consider that the variance function in regression model has a discontinuity/change point at unknown location. Yu and Jones (2004) proposed the local polynomial fit to estimate the log-variance function which break the positivity of the variance. Using the local polynomial fit, Huh (2008) estimate the discontinuity point of the log-variance function. We propose a test for the existence of a discontinuity point in the log-variance function with the estimated jump size in Huh (2008). The proposed method is based on the asymptotic distribution of the estimated jump size. Numerical works demonstrate the performance of the method.

  • In this paper, we examine high school in order to know their ability for understanding about fundamental functions, such as polynomial, trigonometric, logarithm and exponential functions which have learned from high school. The result of this study shows as follows. More than half students are not able to draw shape of given functions, except polynomial. More students do not fully understand about function properties such as domain, codomain, range, maximum and minimum value.

Laplace-domain Waveform Inversion using the Pseudo-Hessian of the Logarithmic Objective Function and the Levenberg-Marquardt Algorithm (로그 목적함수의 유사 헤시안을 이용한 라플라스 영역 파형 역산과 레벤버그-마쿼트 알고리듬)

  • The logarithmic objective function used in waveform inversion minimizes the logarithmic differences between the observed and modeled data. Laplace-domain waveform inversions usually adopt the logarithmic objective function and the diagonal elements of the pseudo-Hessian for optimization. In this case, we apply the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm to prevent the diagonal elements of the pseudo-Hessian from being zero or near-zero values. In this study, we analyzed the diagonal elements of the pseudo-Hessian of the logarithmic objective function and showed that there is no zero or near-zero value in the diagonal elements of the pseudo-Hessian for acoustic waveform inversion in the Laplace domain. Accordingly, we do not need to apply the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm when we regularize the gradient direction using the pseudo-Hessian of the logarithmic objective function. Numerical examples using synthetic and field datasets demonstrate that we can obtain inversion results without applying the Levenberg-Marquardt method.

소리와 음악을 통한 초월 함수의 학습과 교수

  • 본고에서는 함수 영역에서 학생들이 가장 배우가 어려워하는 삼각함수와 지수함수 및 로그함수를 대부분의 학생들이 아주 좋아하는 소리와 음악을 통한 새로운 학습과 교수 환경을 제공하고자 한다. 먼저, 소리와 음악을 통하여 학생들의 흥미를 유발시킨다. 두 번째로 초월함수의 성질을 듣고, 볼 수 있게 함으로써 학생들이 이를 쉽게 이해하고 기억할 수 있도록 하였다. 마지막으로 학생들로 하여금 초월함수를 사용하여 그들이 가장 좋아하는 음악을 직접 작곡해보게 함으로서 초월함수들의 실용성을 직접 경험해 보도록 하였다.

Elastic Analysis of Steel Frame with Semi-rigid Connections using the Log Model (로그 모델을 사용한 반강접 철골 골조의 탄성 해석)

  • Accurate determination of the relative restraint of beam-to-column connections is important for both the strength and the serviceability of structural frames. But steel frame analysis is carried out under the assumption that the connections are either fixed or pinned. Overestimating the connection restraint can result in underestimating lateral sway and underestimating the connection restraint can lead to underestimating forces developed in the beams and columns. This implies that the exact stiffness of connections as well as the geometric effects should be considered in the frame analysis and the overall behavior of connections could be described adequately. Therefore, the stiffness matrix which is able to consider the moment-rotation of connection was derived previously and the modified exponential model, power model and the proposed log model are adopted for modeling the semi-rigid connections. The main purpose of this study is to examine the feasibility of the derived stiffness matrix and to show the validity of log model proposed.

  • Software reliability in the software development process is an important issue. Software process improvement helps in finishing with reliable software product. Infinite failure NHPP software reliability models presented in the literature exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault. In this paper, proposes the reliability model with log and power intensity function (log linear, log power and exponential power), which made out efficiency application for software reliability. Algorithm to estimate the parameters used to maximum likelihood estimator and bisection method, model selection based on mean square error (MSE) and coefficient of determination($R^2$), for the sake of efficient model, was employed. Analysis of failure, using real data set for the sake of proposing log and power intensity function, was employed. This analysis of failure data compared with log and power intensity function. In order to insurance for the reliability of data, Laplace trend test was employed. In this study, the log type model is also efficient in terms of reliability because it (the coefficient of determination is 70% or more) in the field of the conventional model can be used as an alternative could be confirmed. From this paper, software developers have to consider the growth model by prior knowledge of the software to identify failure modes which can be able to help.

Comparison of Head-related Transfer Function Models Based on Principal Components Analysis (주성분 분석법을 이용한 머리전달함수 모형화 기법의 성능 비교)

  • This study deals with modeling of head-related transfer functions(HRTFs) using principal components analysis(PCA) in the time and frequency domains. Four PCA models based on head-related impulse responses(HRIRs), complex-valued HRTFs, augmented HRTFs, and log-magnitudes of HRTFs are investigated. The objective of this study is to compare modeling performances of the PCA models in the least-squares sense and to show the theoretical relationship between the PCA models. In terms of the number of principal components needed for modeling, the PCA model based on HRIR or augmented HRTFs showed more efficient modeling performance than the PCA model based on complex-valued HRTFs. The PCA model based on HRIRs in the time domain and that based on augmented HRTFs in the frequency domain are shown to be theoretically equivalent. Modeling performance of the PCA model based on log-magnitudes of HRTFs cannot be compared with that of other PCA models because the PCA model deals with log-scaled magnitude components only, whereas the other PCA models consider both magnitude and phase components in linear scale.

  • 유한체의 이사로그 문제는pne-way 함수의 특성을 잘 나타내고 있어, 암호 시스템 에 많이 응용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 이산로그와 관련된 알고리즘들을 분석 약술 하고 그중 가장 효율적인 알고리즘으로 평가되는 Coppersmity알고리즘을 4GF({2^127})$ 에서 구현한 결과를 일부분 공개한다.
