  • In computer graphics, high-quality lens flares have been generated using costly offline rendering. A recent matrix-based approximation has enabled generation of high-quality lens flares suitable for real-time applications, but its quality degrades due to the lack of nonlinear patterns of lens flares. This paper introduces a method for high-quality lens-flare rendering, which includes blending of both nonlinear as well as linear patterns. The nonlinear patterns are pre-rendered or photo-graphically captured offline and stored in a look-up table. The online stage reads only the pattern by looking up the table using a light angle, hence making its performance drop negligible while greatly improving the quality.

  • In this paper, we design single and symmetrical double lenses with DOE. The specifications are the following : Image area is 4.8 mm $\times$ 3.6 mm, F/# is 2.8 and the overall length (from first lens surface to image plane) is 6.8mm. After comparing the optical performance and characteristic values, we determine that symmetrical double lenses are superior to single lenses. Symmetrical double lenses have the merits of fewer zones, weaker flare, and smaller distortion than single lenses.

  • In this paper, we propose an image quality evaluation system for compact camera module and assess the effect of optical performance improvement for proposed anti-halation disk in small lens. We develop a image quality evaluation system for quality estimation of camera module image. And we also develop a program to control register in image signal processor. Finally the resolution, brightness, and color reproduction performances were evaluated image quality comparison between conventional and proposed camera module using developed quality evaluation system and ISP register control program.

  • Black polymer spacers are currently used for physically separating aligned camera lenses in camera modules of mobile phones. However, the mechanical properties of polymer spacers have their limits, especially in the current trend of using more lenses in thinner camera modules. Thus, copper (Cu) becomes a good candidate for those polymer spacers because of its superior mechanical properties and its inherent blackness due to its black surfaced oxides, such as copper (II) oxide (cupric oxide, CuO). The latter property is critical in quality control because the closer the color of a spacer is to black, the less light interference and flaring phenomena can occur. A standard Cu blackening process and its operational conditions were proposed in this study through a comprehensive analysis of previous research and patents. The Cu blackening process is composed of cleaning, deoxidizing, activating, blackening and sealing. The effects of operational parameters, such as the temperature of each unit process and the activator concentration, were then investigated by measuring the blackness of the Cu strips with a colorimeter. The proposed operational conditions were determined by whether the blackness of Cu strips was within the on-spec. value used in the field.
