The evaluation criteria are hit rates, redundancy, completeness and accuracy. In spite of high hit rates excessive records representing one work resulted serious redundancy. The average completeness rate of records was $48.12\%$ due to low level of description. The Analysis of accuracy showed various errors in most of records corresponding to $92\%$. Emphasis on analysing the errors in detail detected the causing factors and suggested practical guidelines for school libraries' catalogers.

  • This study attempts to compare the National Library of Korea (NLK)'s cataloging in publication(CIP) records with their permanent records in the National Library of Korea(NLK)'s online public access catalogue(OPAC) database. This study compares the description of records in the NLK CIP versus NLK OPAC in terms of similarities and differences in the bibliographic elements for each record. The study selected the NLK's CIP records from November to December 2008, allowing to publish the registered CIP titles and also the NLK to make the records avaliable in their OPAC database. The finding indicate that libraries that use NLK's CIP records in their copy cataloging activity should not rely 100 per cent on the records. Verifications and modifications need to be carried out to ensure accuracy and quality of their catalogue records.

But it is hard to use DLS cataloging rule as the standardization guidelines in building up the bibliographic records in school libraries because it is not the detailed cataloging rules, has inconsistency in its own rules, and disagrees with KCR4 rules. Therefore, this study is to suggest the new amendment for DLS cataloging rule to improve the bibliographic records quality and to produce the standardized bibliographic records. To grasp the problems of the DLS cataloging rules, DLS cataloging rule was analyzed with KCR4 rule and the interviews were conducted to the 9 school librarian that have experienced over 3 years. The result showed that it was needed to correct the terms to accord with KCR4, and to amend the DLS rule in each area.

  • Semicurrent records are documents that are stored and managed in a separate section because they are infrequently referred to in work. The semicurrent records management stage is when records from the processing department are collected for the first time, serving as a bridge between the current and noncurrent records. For systematic records management, records management at the semicurrent stage is vital. Although Korea has established numerous records centers, various problems remain in the records management environment. In response, this study examines the United States' semicurrent records management system and discusses the features that are different from that of Korea. For this purpose, the records management system of the United States was selected as the scope of research and is analyzed through its records schedule, transfer, and appraisal. The data for the research were obtained through the relevant records management law, guidelines compiled by related agencies, and written inquiries for the records management officer. Through these methods, this study was able to identify the relationship between the federal agency and the Federal Records Center, the introduction of new technology in the aspect of transfers, the privatization of records preservation, and the status of the Federal Records Center as a passive appraisal entity.
