Surface Modification of Reverse Osmosis Membrane with Diphenylamine for Improved Chlorine and Fouling Resistance (Diphenylamine에 의해 표면개질된 역삼투막의 내염소성 및 내오염성 향상)

  • This study investigated the aromatic polyamide reverse osmosis membrane was modified with diphenylamine (DPA) for enhanced chlorine and fouling resistance and how to optimize. DPA has high reactivity and thermo chemical stability. The performance of a modified membranes was investigated and its surface analyzed using atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and contact angle measurement. The experiment was conducted while changing the conditions of temperature and DPA solution concentration.

  • 압전 세라믹스는 진동, 변형, 압력 등의 기계적 에너지를 전기적 에너지로 혹은 전기적 에너지를 기계적 에너지로 변환시키는 소자로서의 기능을 가지며 조성의 개선 및 제조 기술의 진보가 계속되어 큰 관심을 받고 있다. 최근 audio의 고급화 및 자동차, 평면 TV, 고성능 통신기기, 디지털방송, 홈시어터 등 스피커의 성능이 크게 부각되면서 대기업에서부터 중소기업에 이르기까지 고성능 스피커의 개발에 박차를 가하고 있다. 압전 세라믹을 이용하여 음압을 변조하는 압전 스피커는 디스크 형상의 압전 프레이트를 단층 또는 다층으로 형성하여 기존의 마그네틱 스피커와는 차별되는 형태를 가진 스피커로서 응용하는 것이다. PSN-PZT계 조성을 개발하여 $d_{33}$, 전기기계결합계수($k_p$), 온도안정성 및 내구성 향상 및 특성향상을 위한 입경 조절 및 공정을 연구하고자 한다. 디스크 형태의 압전 세라믹을 이용하여 2, 3, 4 layer 이상의 멀티레이어 시편을 제작하였고, 여러 시편에서 크기 및 형상, 접합 방법 등에 따른 특성을 최적화하여 스피커의 특성을 향상 시키고자 한다.

  • In this paper, we design a future mobile camera standard interface based on the MIPI CSI-2 and D-PHY specification. The proposed CSI-2 have the efficient multi-lane management layer, which the independent buffer on the each lane are merged into single buffer. This scheme can flexibly manage data on multi lanes though the number of supported lanes are mismatched in a camera processor transmitter and a host processor. The proposed CSI-2 & D-PHY are verified under test bench. We make an experiment on CSI-2 & D-PHY with FPGA type test-bed and implement them onto a mobile handset. The proposed CSI-2 & D-PHY module are used as both the bridge type and the future camera processor IP for SoC.

Removal of VOCs from Water by Vapor Permeation through PU/PDMS Membrane (PU/PDMS 막을 이용한 증기투과공정에 의한 물로부터 휘발성 유기화합물 제거)

  • PU/PDMS(Poly urethane/poly(dimethylsiloxane ) membranes were prepared to enhance chemical resistance over VOCs from 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDHS). Swelling characteristics and vapor permeation performance of toluene, 1,2-dichloroethane, hexane through PU/PDMS membrane with various feed VOCs concentration were investigated. Swelling ratio of VOCs showed tendency of Toluene > 1,2-dichloroethane > hexane. Fiux of toluene and 1,2-dichloroethane increased with increasing fled concentration while the flux of hexane maintained with increasing feed. VOCs concentration in permeate maintained 50 wt% oi concentration due to high affinity of PU/PDHS membranes to VOCs.

  • In the context of the structural performance of an LNG hold, the mechanical characteristics of the insulation material are considered to be a critical design factor under cryogenic temperatures. This paper presents the thermal elasto-plastic behavior of the reinforced polyurethane foam (RPUF) adapted for the insulation material of a membrane-type LNG carrier via both experiments and numerical simulations realizing the cryogenic condition. The experiments are carried out to investigate the thermal transfer and thermal elasto-plastic deformation characteristics of an actual RPUF specimen. The heat transfer simulations based on the finite element method (FEM) include a forced convection analysis. The results of heat transfer analyses are compared with the experimental results. Reasonable cryogenic conditions for RPUF are reviewed based on both the analysis and experimental results.

  • LNG demand has been rapidly increasing in Korea for a variety of reasons including stable supply, non-polluting, and high combustion efficiency characteristics. One of the most important structural core element of the LNG storage tank is the membrane, consisting of stainless steel. The membrane to be applied inside of LNG storage tank is provided with corrugations to absorb thermal contraction and expansion caused by LNG temperature. Experimental studies are presented to investigate the deformation and strength of the membrane which is designed by Kogas. All experiments are conducted on the basis of RPIS, and we found the results is fully satisfied with the RPIS.

  • Seoul Metro continuously converted the standard rail into continuous welded rail since the later part of 1990's, and currently, most of the sectors of the Seoul Metro are continuous welded rails. As the continuous welded rail is inhibited by the contraction and expansion force of the rail as well as rail-bed, this force is stored as the internal stress of the rail with the exception of portion of the both ends of the continuous welded rail. If the contraction and expansion of the rail is restricted, the internal stress, that is, the force in the direction of the axis, is proportional to the cross-sectional area of the rail. Therefore, with regards to the temperature changes, the internal stress changes in accordance with the type of rail, bolting apparatus, railroad tie and rail-bed. As such, the rail temperature becomes important data in securing the gap at the adjoining section of the rail in the standard rail section, and to determine the setting temperature for the continuous welded rail. In addition, it becomes basic data for maintenance of the track. Accordingly, this thesis introduces cases of installation of rail temperature detector in order to prevent and manage track defectiveness due to increase in rail temperature, and to utilize as basic data at the time of various construction and maintenance. Furthermore, this thesis aims to assist maintenance of track through systematic temperature management in the future by looking into means of its utilization.

Finite Element Analysis of Membrane for LNG Storage Tank (액화천연가스 저장탱크용 멤브레인의 유한요소해석)

  • This paper analyzes the behaviors of corrugated membrane under the cryogenic liquid pressure and thermal loading using the FEM analysis program MARC. The FEM calculations were carried out on the basis of measured data of Technigaz membrane. It is very important to know the concentration levels and distributions of stress in the corrugated membrane. A quarter of the membrane sheet in place of the whole membrane was simulated because of its geometric symmetricity. The calculated results of the concentrated stress showed that the maximum stress occurs at the knot parts and at the root corner radius of the corrugations. The FEM calculated results indicated that the ring knot membrane which was developed in this study showed uniformly distributed stress and the lowest stress levels in the cross knot area in comparison with other two membranes. These results are very important to optimize the shape and improve the safety of membrane structure.

Synthesis and Characterization of Sol-Gel Derived Mesoporous Titania/Alumina Membranes (솔젤법에 의한 메조기공 티타니아/알루미나 막의 제조 및 기체투과 특성)

  • In this study, mesoporous titania/alumina membranes were prepared by sol-gel method. Pore structure and phase composition of titania/alumina membranes could be changed by calcination temperature. The addition of alumina into titania membranes retarded anatase-to-rutile phase transformation, resulting in stabilization of pore structures. The 5 time dip-coated membrane calcined at $450^{\circ}C$ is about $10.3{\mu}m$ in thickness with an average pore size of 5 nm. Hydrogen and nitrogen permeances through the membrane were $17.1{\times}10^{-7}mol/m^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}Pa$ and $4.7{\times}10^{-7}mol/m^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}Pa$, respectively. These data were explained by the Knudsen diffusion mechanism.

Development Trend of Damping Mg Alloys (진동 감쇠능 마그네슘 합금의 개발 동향)

  • 현재 사용되고 있는 진동감쇠능 Mg-Zr 합금인 K1A는 우수한 진동감쇠능을 갖으나 열악한 기계적 특성과 Zr이 고가이면서 고융점 원소로 합금화가 어렵다는 문제점 때문에 진동테이블, 미사일 유도시스템 및 레코딩 장비 등에 소량만 적용되고 있다. Mg-Ni 합금의 경우Ni가 Mg 용탕 내에 고용되지 않아 우수한 진동감쇠능을 갖으나 Fe, Cu등과 함께 Mg의 부식을 가속시키는 원소로 사용이 제한적일 뿐 아니라 Zr과 마찬가지로 Ni도 고융점 원소로 합금화가 어렵다는 것도 문제점으로 작용하고 있다. Mg-Si 합금의 경우 Si이 극소량만 고용되어 우수한 진동감쇠능을 보이며 Ni과 달리 부식에 영향을 받지 않는 원소이지만 Zr, Ni와 마찬가지로 고가이면서 고융점 원소로 합금화가 어렵다는 문제점이 있다. Mg 용탕에 첨가하게 되면 용탕의 표면에 MgO, CaO 피막을 형성하여 발화현상을 억제할 뿐 아리라 첨가량의 증가에 따라 발화온도를 상승시키는 Ca의 경우 Mg 내에 고용되어 진동감쇠능을 감소시킬 뿐 아니라 유동성 저하 및 열간균열을 야기하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 CaO의 경우 Mg내에 고용되지 않고, 가격이 저렴하며 Mg 고유 특성의 변화가 적다. 또한 Ca와 같이 Mg 용탕의 발화를 억제하여 보호가스인 $SF_6$를 사용하지 않아도 된다. 이런 다양한 장점을 갖는 CaO를 첨가한 Mg합금이 진동감쇠능을 유지하면서 기계적 특성이 향상된다면 주행 시 안전성 및 정음성이 요구되는 수송기기 분야와 외부충격으로부터 데이터 보호가 필수적인 휴대용 전자정보통신기기 분야에서 적용이 증가할 전망이며 이에 따라 이 분야에 대한 지속적인 연구와 투자가 이루어져야 할 것이다.
