Effects of Vehicle Loads on Thermal Buckling Behavior of Continuous Welded Rail Tracks (장대레일 궤도의 온도좌굴 거동에 미치는 열차하중의 영향)

  • The present study investigates the influences of vehicle induced loads on the thermal buckling behavior of straight and curved continuous welded rail (CWR) tracks. Quasi-static loads model is assumed to determine the uplift region, which occurs due to the vertical track deflection induced by wheel loads of vehicle. The lateral loads of vehicle induced by weight, the speed, the superelevation and curvature of track, and other dynamic vehicle track interaction, are included in the ratio of lateral to vertical vehicle load. Parametric numerical analyses are perfomed to calculate the upper and lower critical buckling temperatures of CWR tracks, and the comparison between the results of this work and the previous results without vehicle is also included.

  • Most modern railways, especially the high speed railway tracks, use continuous welded rail(CWR) for the less maintenance. For the CWR track has very few expansion joints, track buckling has always been an unpredictable event and it happens mainly by high compressive stress in rail in summer period. Therefore, it is important to understand the variation of rail stress induced by thermal loads which has direct influence on the rail buckling and stability of railway track. This paper describes the experimental investigation of the variation of rail temperature and stress in a high speed railway track on bridge structure. Field measurement was performed to examine the correlation between the rail temperature and rail stress on the Korean High Speed Railway line. Regression functions were derived from measured data to determine the rail stress f3r an arbitrary rail temperature varies from 20 to 50 degree Celsius.

사출성형에 의한 이방성 Nd-Fe-B계 레진본드자석의 자기적 특성

  • 본 연구에서는 이방성 Nd-Fe-B계 자성분말과 바인더로 polypropylene을 사용하여 compound를 제조한 후 사출성형에 의해 이방성 Nd-Fe-B 레진본드자석을 제조하여 자성분말의 함량, 인가자장 및 사출성형 온도에 따른 자기적 특성 및 유변학적 특성을 조사하였다. Torque sensor에 의해 측정한 본 연구에 사용된 이방상 Nd-Fe-B계 자성분말의 최대 분말함량은 70.7vol%이었다. Compound의 자성분말 함량이 증가함에 따라 레진본드자석의 잔류자속밀도와 최대자기에너지적은 증가하여 54vol%에서 최대값을 보인후 다시 감소하였고, 보자력은 변화가 없었다. 54vol% 자성분말 함량 이상에서 잔류자속밀도와 최대자기에너지적이 다시 감소하는 것은 사출성형시 자성분말의 배향도 저하에 기인한다. 이것은 compound의 자성분말 함량이 증가함에 따라 compound의 유동성이 저하되어 사출성형시 자성분말의 이방화를 어렵게 만들기 때문이다. 사출성형 온도가 증가함에 따라 레진본드자석의 자기적 특성은 증가하였다. 이는 성형온도가 증가함에 따라 compound의 유동성이 향상되어 자성분말의 배향도가 증가되었기 때문이다. 따라서 사출성형에 의해 이방성 Nd-Fe-B계 레진본드자석 제조시 자기적 특성을 향상시키기 위해서는 compound의 자성말 함량 뿐만 아니라 compound의 유동성이 중요하게 고려되어야 한다.

  • During summer, very high compressive force occurs on the continuous welded rail (CWR) track because of the increase of rail temperature (max. $60^{\circ}C$). This extreme temperature stress can cause the CWR track to buckle. Among many CWR parameters affecting the track buckling, the influence of the lateral and longitudinal ballast resistance was investigated on the stability of the CWR track in this study. Also, the sensitivity of the track irregularity such as the alignment defect and the gauge irregularity was investigated.

  • This study was to solve the lift problem of the existing unit curtain wall type by using the vertical material mullion as a rail in curtain wall, which is recently used as an external finishing material for high-rise buildings. It has been shown that the application of the curtain wall mullion's rail can be quantified even at 20m/sec wind speed through the Mock-Up test. Based on the sites selected for comparison of construction methods, it was analyzed that the construction period could be shortened by 48 days, or about 20 percent. It was analyzed that the number of construction workers could be reduced by about 33 percent from the previous nine to six. Based on these results, assuming the installation of curtain wall units of 10,000㎡, it is judged that construction cost can be reduced by 80% or more.

Effects of Blanching Conditions by Various Salt Contents on the Quality Properties of Cirsium setidens Nakai (소금함량을 달리한 데치기 조건이 곤드레의 품질특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the change of the quality of wild edible plants, Cirsium setidens Nakai, blanched at various conditions. Samples were blanched under blanching conditions of $90^{\circ}C/25min$, $95^{\circ}C/15min$, and $100^{\circ}C/5min$, with salt concentrations of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5%. The color, texture (hardness), chlorophyll and total polyphenols were analyzed. The contents of polyphenol and hardness in Cirsium setidens Nakai were found to be decreased in relation to blanching time. With respect to sensory evaluation, the 3% treatment had a higher overall acceptability than other treatments. The optimal blanching condition was found to be $100^{\circ}C/5min$ and 3% salt.

  • Rail vehicle brakes partly or completely transform the kinetic energy of moving vehicles into other forms of energy, in order to reduce the speed, and if necessary to bring them to a halt. To fulfil these requirements, the effect of a certain brake force is necessary and especially it is considered that the brake force is a important device to rail vehicles as a mass transit. The brake distance is a criterion for measuring brake force. The brake force is measured via dozens of brake distance test before its service operation. The brake distance is influenced by cars and rail conditions; weight of cars, speed on the verge of braking, temperature of brake disk and condition of the upper side of rail, etc. Therefore we will study how the these factors impact with the brake distance via a real test results.

Anisotropic Wet Etching of Single Crystal Silicon for Formation of Membrane Structure (멤브레인 구조 제작은 위한 단결정 실리콘의 이방성 습식 식각)

  • We have studied micro-machining technologies to fabricate parts and sensors used in the semiconductor equipment. The studies were based on the silicon integrated circuit processes, and composed of the anisotropic etching of single crystal silicon to fabricate a membrane structure for hot and cold junctions in the infrared absorber. KOH and TMAH were used as etching solutions for the anisotropic wet etching for membrane structure formation. The etching characteristic was observed for the each solution, and etching rate was measured depending upon the temperature and concentration of the etching solution. The different characteristics were observed according to pattern directions and etchant concentration. The pattern was made to incline $45^{\circ}$ on the primary flat, and optimum etching property was obtained in the case of 30 wt% and $90^{\circ}C$ of KOH etching solution for the formation of the membrane structure.

  • Since fatigue cracks in rail can be the source of fractures and subsequent derailments, quantitative evaluation of the fatigue behavior and fracture properities due to the analysis results of laboratory test are drawn on the basis for predicting fatigue life and making a decision of safe inspection interval. Charpy V-notch and fracture toughness behavior were evaluated from the results of Charpy impact test. Fatigue test was performed by using CT type specimen under constant amplitude loading, and finally the effects of the following parameters; crack orientation, temperature, and stress ratio, on the fatigue crack growth behavior were studied.
