DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH SENSITIVE MODEL OF CARIES ACTIVITY TEST FOR EARLY DIAGNOSIS OF DENTAL CARIES (치아우식증의 조기진단을 위한 고감도 우식활성검사 모형개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the system which convert the optical difference of teeth texture between intact enamel and incipient caries lesion into shade difference by laser fluorescence and to develop new and simple caries activity test using laser fluorescence. The experimental design of this study consists of three parts. In first part, a new method for the in vitro assessment of changes in initial enamel caries lesion of Bovine teeth using laser fluorescence is tested. In second part, in vivo assessment undertaken. Number of teeth which showed incipient carious lesion on buccal surface examined by laser fluorescence was compared with the caries activity test of $Cariescreen^{(R)}$ test and other oral environmental test of dDfFtT. In third part, new caries activity test measured by laser fluorescence was developed on the basis of above results and evaluated the sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic power. Optical density measured by laser fluorescence was increased as increasing the depth of incipient carious lesion and showed high correlation$(\gamma=0.7015)$ with lesion depth. Optical density showed direct proportion to lesion depth. Linear equation was obtained between the optical density and the lesion depth by regression analysis. The result of caries activity test with laser fluorescence showed high correlation with those of $Cariescreen^{(R)}$ test and dDfFtT examination. Caries activity test with laser fluorescence showed 48% of sensitivity, 52% of specificity, and 45% of diagnostic power on the basis of dDfFtT examination, and also showed 48% of sensitivity, 51% of specificity, and 36% of diagnostic power on the basis of $Cariescreen^{(R)}$ test. In regard above result, caries activity test with laser fluorescence considered to be reliable for caries activity test compared with other oral environmental test. and it was also considered to be practical because it would be simple, inexpensive, and time saving method.

  • Laser applied combustion diagnostic techniques-laser induced fluorescence (LIF) and coherent anti-Stokes Ramann spectroscopy (CARS)-are demonstrated. The profiles of hydroxyl radical (OH) and temperature in the counterflow burner are measured and compared with the numerical results. OH radical is excited on the Q$_1$(6) line of the $A^2$$\sum^+$$\leftarrow$$X^2{\prod}$(1, 0) band transition (281.1 nm) and LIF signal is measured at the the bands of (0, 0) and (1, 1) transition (306~326 nm). Absolute OH radical is obtained by using the laser absorption technique. The quenching effects are considered. Temperature is measured using broadband CARS system. Two dimensional OH radical profile is also obtained. The profiles of OH radical and temperature are found to agree well with those of numerical calculation.

  • Laser induced incandescence and laser induced fluorescence techniques have been investigated to measure the concentrations of soot and PAH, respectively. The Nd:YAG and dye lasers were used to form a sheet beam, and its wavelength were modulated to obtain a optimized signals of soot and PAH. Results showed that the relative size groups of soot and PAH can be measured by using our laser techniques.

  • In this study, quantitative nitric oxide concentration distributions are investigated in the laminar nonpremixed $H_2/N_2$ flames by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The measurements are taken in flames for different $N_2$ dilution ratios varying from 20${\sim}$80%, and fuel now rate is fixed as lslpm. The NO A-X (0,0) vibrational band around 226 nm is excited using a XeCl excimer-pumped dye laser. We applied same excitation line used in $CH_4$ premixed flame. Overall, NO concentration was rapidly decreased with $N_2$ addition and we could not measure the concentration any longer for $N_2$ dilution above 80%.

  • In this study, quantitative nitric oxide concentration distributions are investigated in the post-flame zone of laminar premixed $CH_4/O_2/N_2$, flames by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The measurements are taken in flames for different equivalence ratios varying from $0.8{\sim}1.4$, and flow rate is fixed as 5slpm. The NO A-X (0,0) vibrational band around 226 nm is excited using a XeCl excimer-pumped dye laser. Selecting an appropriate NO transition minimizes interferences from Rayleigh scattering and $O_2$ fluorescence. NO concentration is rised when equivalence ratios increase at different vertical distances form nozzle tip. In any case, the maximum NO concentration reaches the maximum in reaction zone.

  • This experimental study deals with on Nitric Oxide Formation & Reduction in Industrial Bunner. In this study, Laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) techniques have been used for quantitative measurements of Nitric Oxide. The NO A-X (0, 0) Vibrational band around 226 nm was excited using a XeCl excimer-pumped dye laser. And on-line excitation used $P_{21}+Q_1(14.5)/R_{12}+Q_2(20.5)/P_1(23.5)$ transition, for minimizing the other interferential effect. The measurements were taken NO concentration distribution in double swirling diffusion flame. In this swirl burner, NO concentration in downstream fo the flame decrease as primary/secondary air ratio increases.

레이저 유기 형광법을 이용한 자기장이 인가된 유도결합플라즈마의 전기장 특성 연구

  • 현재 반도체시장의 확장으로 인해서 기존의 300mm 웨이퍼에서 450mm의 웨이퍼를 사용하는 공정으로 변화하는 추세이다. 450mm 웨이퍼로 대면적 화되면서 기존 300mm 공정 때보다 훨씬 효율적인 플라즈마 소스 즉, 고밀도이고, 고균등화(high uniformity) 플라즈마 소스를 필요로 한다. 본 논문에서는 고밀도 플라즈마 소스인 유도 결합형 플라즈마(Inductively Coupled Plasma ; ICP)에 축 방향의 약한 자기장을 인가시킨 자화된 유도결합형 플라즈마(Magnetized Inductively Coupled Plasma : MICP)[1]를 제안하여 기존 ICP와의 차이점을 살펴보았다. 실험 방법으로 레이저 유기 형광법(Laser Induced Fluorescence : LIF)[2]을 이용하여 플라즈마 쉬스(Sheath) 내의 전기장을 외부 자기장의 변화에 따라 높이별로 측정하고 그 결과로부터 쉬스의 전기적 특성을 살펴보았다. 플라즈마의 특성상 탐침이나 전극에 전압을 인가하면 그 주위로 디바이 차폐(Debye Shielding)현상이 일어나서 플라즈마 왜곡이 일어난다. 그렇기에 플라즈마, 특히 플라즈마 쉬스의 특성을 파악하기 위해서 레이저라는 기술을 사용하였다. 레이저는 고가의 장비이고 그 사용에 많은 경험지식(know-how)를 필요로 하지만 플라즈마를 왜곡시키지 않고, 플라즈마의 밀도, 온도, 전기장 등 많은 상수(parameter)들을 얻어 낼 수 있다. 또한 3차원적으로 높은 분해능을 가지고 있는 장점이 있다. 강한 전기장이 있는 곳에서 입자들의 고에너지 준위가 전기장의 세기에 비례하여 분리되는 Stark effect[3] 이론을 이용하여 플라즈마 쉬스내의 전기장을 측정하였다. 실험은 헬륨가스 700mTorr 압력에서 이루어졌다. 기판의 파워를 50W에서 300W까지 변화시키면서 기판에 생기는 쉬스의 전기장의 변화를 살펴보았고, 자기장을 인가한 후 동일한 실험을 하여 자기장의 유무에 따른 플라즈마 쉬스의 전기장 변화를 살펴보았다. 실험결과 플라즈마 쉬스의 전기장의 변화는 기판의 파워와 플라즈마 밀도에 크게 의존함을 알았다. 기판의 파워가 커질수록 쉬스의 전기장은 커지고, 기판에 생기는 Self Bias Voltage역시 음의 방향으로 커짐을 확인 하였다. 또한 자기장을 걸어주었을 경우 쉬스의 두께가 얇아짐으로써 플라즈마의 밀도가 증가했음을 확인 할 수 있었다.

Study on the characteristics of laminar lifted flames using planar laser induced fluorescence technique (평면 레이저유도 형광법을 이용한 부상화염의 특성 연구)

  • Characteristics of the lifted flame which is generated by issuing of the fuel through the miniature nozzle, d = 0.164 mm, are studied using the planar laser induced fluorescence technique. OH radical is excited on the $Q_{1}$(8) line of the $A^{2}$.SIGMA.$^{+.leq.X2}$ .PI.(1, 0) band transition (283.55 nm) and LIF signals are captured at the bands of (0, 0) and (1, 1) transition (306 ~ 326 nm) using the filters and ICCD camera. Hydroxyl radical (OH) profile for nozzle attached flame shows that OH radical populations at the flame sides and flame tip are larger than those at the base. But for the lifted flame (tribrachial flame) case, those are larger at the flame base than at the flame tip and flame sides. The OH radical is more dense near the center line of flame base at the blowing out. This fact proves the Chung and Lee's blowout theory-blowout occurs when the flame is anchored at the flame axis. axis.

A Study on Measurement of NO Concentrations in Burner Flames by LIF (레이저 유도 형광법(LIF)을 이용한 버너 화염의 NO 농도측정에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, quantitative measurement of nitric oxide concentration distributions were investigated in the laminar CH4/O2/N2 premixed flame by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The NO A-X (0,0) vibrational band around 226nm was excited using a XeCl excimer-pumped dye laser. Selecting an appropriate NO transition minimizes interference from Rayleigh scattering and O2 fluorescence. The measurements were taken in CH4/O2/N2 premixed flame with equivalence ratios varying from $1.0{\sim}1.6$, and a fixed flowrate of 5slpm. NO was found to produce primarily between an inner premixed and an outer nonpremixed flame front, and total NO concentration is raised when equivalence ratios increase. These results suggest that prompt NO is likely to contribute to NO formation in CH4/O2/N2 premixed flame. Furthermore, this trend was well matched with previous works.

  • Tunable KrF Excimer Laser is used here for measuring OH and $O_2$ density distribustion in an open $H_2$/air premixed flame and in a combustion bomb. Laser Rayleigh Scattering(LRS) and Planar Laser Induced Predissociative Fluorescence(PLIPF) methods are used to obtain two-dimensional images of total and specific densities. Laser Excitation wavelengths are calibrated via flame images and combustion bomb images show good qualitative a greement with theoretical calculation. Furthermore images in a combustion bomb can be developed to study real Spark-Ignition engine combustions. Our experimental images show that there are no more collisional quenching problem at high pressure environment(including atmospheric pressure) using predissociative fluorescence technique. Further development to obtain two-dimensional temperature dustribution is ready to use eventhough it is not reported in this paper.
