Failure Pressure Prediction of Composite T-Joint for Hydrodynamic Ram Test (수압램 시험을 위한 복합재 T-Joint의 파손 압력 예측)

  • Aircraft wing structure is used as a fuel tank containing the fluid. Fuel tank and joint parts are consists of composite structure. Hydrodynamic Ram(HRAM) effect occurs when the high speed object pass through the aircraft wing or explosion and the high pressure are generated in the fuel tank by HRAM effect. High pressure can cause failure of the fuel tank and the joint parts as well as the aircraft wing structure. To ensure the aircraft survivability design, we shall examine the behavior of the joint parts in HRAM effect. In this study, static tensile tests were conducted on four kind of the composite T-Joints. The failure behavior of the composite T-joint was examined by strain gauges and high speed camera. We examine the validity of the Finite Element Modeling by comparing the results of FEA and static tensile tests. The failure stresses and failure pressure of the composite T-Joint were calculated by FEA.

Inlet Air Temperature Effect on the Performance Efficiency of the Solid Fuel Ramjet through Semi-empirical Method (반 실험적 방법을 통한 고체 램 제트 성능에 대한 흡입 공기 온도의 영향)

  • In the fuel of the solid fuel ramjet there are metal particles in order to improve the Isp like as solid rocket propellants. Because of the short combustion residence time these metallized fuels have low combustion efficiencies. Therefore it is necessary to increase the combustion efficiency and the inlet air temperature does an important role to this. The effect of the inlet air temperature to the performance is investigated through the semi-empirical method by adopting the experimental combustion efficiency. There are two factors to affect the inlet temperature, free stream temperature and the flight Mach number.

A Comparative study on the pricing mechanism and social welfare in the Natural Gas Market (국내 천연가스산업의 도매가격결정방식 비교 분석)

  • This paper attempts to improve domestic natural gas pricing system, thereby optimizing social welfare. This is done by deriving theoretical frameworks of natural gas pricing, which make use of both Ramsey component pricing rule and Efficient component pricing rule based on the theory of marginal cost. Allocative efficiency and social welfare between gas prices derived from the three pricing mechanism, present Cost-based pricing, Ramsey component pricing rule and Efficient component pricing rule, are analysed and compared in the case study. For the city gas, allocative efficiency of Cost-based pricing is higher than that of Ramsey component pricing rule and Efficient component pricing rule. In contrast, for the natural gas consumed for power generation, allocative efficiency of Cost-based pricing is lower than the other two pricing systems. It also turns out that social welfare is improved by the prices driven from Ramsey component pricing rule and Efficient component pricing rule rather than present Cost-based pricing.

Arrayed-Arc Slit Design to Improve the focusing Effect of the focused Lamb Wave by Laser (레이저에 의한 집속형 램파의 집속도 향상을 위한 원호형 슬릿 설계)

  • In recent, Lamb wave has been actively studied for non-destructive testing of plate. Among those studios, laser generation method of focused Lamb wave is expected to have high spatial resolution with advantages of non-contact testing. In this method, the laser beam is illuminated on the surface of object by through an arrayed-arc slit, and then the energy of the generated Lamb wave is concentrated at a focus of arc. This focusing effect improves the spatial resolution, which is dependant on the geometries of arrayed-arc slit. In this paper, the relationships between the parameters of arc-shaped slit and the focusing ability of the generated Lamb wave was investigated by the simulation based parametric study The results show that to improve the focusing effect, radius of illuminated laser, angle of arc and number of arcs must be increased, which minimum radius of arc and distance between arcs(=wavelength) must be decreased. These results are expected to be used as a guide to design the proper shape of slit.

  • The spatial focusing of time reversal Lamb waves on a plate has attracted considerable attention for identifying the location of an input source. This study investigates the spatial focusing performance on a plate with respect to the number of piezoelectric (PZT) sensors for varying locations of input sources. In particular, a small number of PZT sensors produce spatial focusing through the virtual sensor effect due to reflection of Lamb waves at plate edges. The spatial focusing performance with respect to the number of PZT sensors is quantified in terms of signal to noise ratio through numerical simulation and its implication is discussed.

  • In this work a guidance and control system for an a powered ram air parafoil under wind disturbance is considered. After analyzing a 6 Dof and 9 Dof nonlinear dynamic models of the parafoil, wind effect is added to them. In order to actively respond to the wind acting on the transverse direction of the vehicle a new guidance algorithm is proposed. After a Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation (HILS) study, flight tests are performed to demonstrate its potential under wind disturbances.

  • For the application of Lamb wave to structural health monitoring(SHM), understanding its physical characteristic and interaction between Lamb wave and defect of the host structure is an important issue. In this study, reflected, transmitted and mode converted Lamb waves at discontinuity of a plate structure were simulated and the amplitude ratios are calculated theoretically using Modal decomposition method. The predicted results were verified comparing with finite element method(FEM) and experimental results simulating attached PZTs. The result shows that the theoretical prediction is close to the FEM and the experimental verification. Moreover, quantitative estimation method was suggested using amplitude ratio of Lamb wave at discontinuity.

  • Nozzleless booster is one of the applicable components for integral rocket ramjet (IRR). In order to predict nozzleless solid booster performance, the simplified theoretical analysis was applied for L/D=5, 6, 7, 9, 11, and 13. Al-HTPB and Zr-HTPB propellant with a high metal content were used to increase the hardness because of the combustion gas flow effect. It was found that the trends between the simplified theoretical analysis and experiments were similar.

  • 램젯 엔진을 장착한 미사일은 기존의 터보젯 이나 터보팬 엔진에 비해 압축기와 터빈과 같은 엔진 구성품이 없어 무게가 가볍고 초음속에서 저항도 적으며 고속의 비행영역에서 연료효율과 생존성능이 뛰어나기 때문에 차세대 미사일 추진 시스템으로서 세계 여러 국가에서 개발 및 운용이 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 램젯 엔진은 충분한 램 효과를 얻어야 초기 점화가 가능하기 때문에 현재 개발되고 있는 대부분의 시스템은 최초 발사시 로켓 부스터에 의해 가속하고 로켓연료를 모두 소모하고난 후에 흡입구가 개방되어 램젯 엔진이 점화하는 방식을 취하고 있다.

Characteristics and Development Trends of Heat-Resistant Composites for Flight Propulsion System (비행체 추진기관용 내열 복합재의 특성 및 개발 동향)

  • In order to limit the temperature rise of the structure to a certain level or less while maintaining the aerodynamic shape of solid rocket nozzle by effectively blocking a large amount of heat introduced by the combustion gas of high temperature and high pressure, the heat-resistant materials such as C/C composite having excellent ablation resistance are applied to a position in contact with the combustion gas, and the heat-insulating materials having a low thermal diffusivity are applied to the backside thereof. SiC/SiC composite, which has excellent oxidation resistance, is applied to gas turbine engines and contributes to increase engine performance due to light weight and heat-resistant improvement. Scramjet, flying at hypersonic speed, has been studying the development of C/SiC structures using the endothermic fuel as a coolant because the intake air temperature is very high. In this paper, characteristics, application examples, and development trends of various heat-resistant composites used in solid rocket nozzles, gas turbine engines, and ramjet/scramjet propulsions were discussed.
