Smartphone Digital Image Processing Method for Sand Particle Size Analysis (모래 입도분석을 위한 스마트폰 디지털 이미지 처리 방법)

  • The grain size distribution of sand provides crucial information for understanding coastal erosion and sediment deposition. The commonly used sieve analysis for grain size distribution analysis has limitations such as time-consuming processes and the inability to obtain information about individual particle shapes and colors. In this study, we propose a grain size distribution analysis method using smartphone digital images, which is simpler and more efficient than the sieve analysis method. During the image analysis process, we effectively detect particles from relatively low-resolution smartphone digital images by extracting particle boundaries through image gradient calculation. Using samples collected from four beaches in Gyeongsangbuk-do, we compare and validate the proposed boundary extraction image analysis method with the analysis method that does not extract boundaries, against sieve analysis results. The proposed method shows an average error rate of 8.21% at D50, exhibiting a 65% lower error compared to the method without boundary extraction. Therefore, grain size distribution analysis using smartphone digital images is convenient, efficient, and demonstrated accuracy comparable to sieve analysis.

  • The study aims to analyze the characteristics and problems of raw image file formats, evaluate its suitability for the management of digital photographic records, and suggest the introduction method to utilize such format in public institutions. Raw image file formats feature reversibility and flexibility. However, most of them are proprietary file formats that depend on the digital camera manufacturer. The DNG format, which was developed to standardize raw image file formats, has received positive reviews from overseas public agencies. However, the DNG format is not fully recognized as a standard; hence, it is appropriate to use it tentatively until the standard raw format appears. On the other hand, the converted digital photo file format is not recognized as an original with legal authenticity. Therefore, in the short term, DNG files created by format conversion and original raw files should be encapsulated and preserved. Furthermore, it is necessary to redefine the baseline of the hash value and file size to recognize the legal authenticity only with DNG files in the long term.

  • Digital morph expresses the imaginary beyond the representation of reality by expressing the narrative effect characteristically. In particular, the effect of affect can be considered to be a characteristic of digital cinema as a post-cinema. In (2013), Morphing image prominently shows the characteristics of post-cinema. By actively utilizing software technology, this film gives a shocking effect by expressing the magical image. Paying attention to the post-cinematic characteristics of morphing different from classical film, this article treated the characteristics of digital morphing. The digital morphing presents the flow of affect visualizing uncanny phenomenon of body transformation. This evokes concept of neuro-image which Patricia Pisters distinguished the neuropsychiatric pathology that appears actively on the contemporary digital screen. The Neuro-image goes beyond the temporality of Deleuze's time-image presenting future. Allegedly, the morphing of presents the neuro-images when Nina's body changed to hybrid body with black swan. Digital Morphing technique provides a shocking effect, showing delirium when the body bizarrely deformed while dancing ballet. This is different from the attraction of the morphing in film, it expresses the emotion of the neoliberal era beyond representation. In conclusion, the digital morphing presents the neuro-image system modulating the shock. This shows the characteristics of digital film which interacting and controling the shock effect as post-cinema.

  • 디지털로 신호를 표현하는 방법은 기존 아날로그 표현하는 방법에 비해 많은 장점을 가지고 있다. 하지만 디지털로 된 데이터는 언제 어디서든 대단위 복제가 가능하다. 즉, 저작권 침해, 불법 복제 및 배포, 손쉽게 위조할 수 있다는 점이 그것이다. 디지털 영상 정보의 보호를 위해 디지털 영상의 불법적인 내용 조작을 막고, 영상의 소유권을 보장할 수 있는 방법으로 디지털 워터마크(Digital Watermark)가 있다. 디지털 워터마크는 공개키 알고리즘이나 방화벽 등으로 해독된 영상에 대하여 부가적인 보호를 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 디지털 영상 데이터의 정보 보호를 위해 주파수 영역에서의 웨이브릿 변환(Wavelet Transform)을 이용한 이미지 적용 디지털 워터마킹(Image-Adaptive Digital Watermarking) 방법을 제안한다. 이미지 적용 웨이브릿(Image-Adaptive Wavelet)은 영상을 주파수적으로 분해하면서 각 대역들의 공간 영역에서의 정보를 함께 지니고 JND(Just noticeable difference)을 포함한다. 이미지 적응 웨이브릿의 이러한 특성을 이용하여 다해상도 분해하고, 손실 압축(Loss Compression)이나 필터링(Filtering), 잡음(Noise)등에 크게 영향받는 저주파 성분과 인간의 시각적으로 큰 의미를 갖는 고주파 성분의 특성을 이용하여 워터마크를 삽입한다.

  • 디지털 시대에 들어서면서 폭발적으로 증가하는 정보를 효율적으로 유지, 보관, 이용하기 위해 디지털 아카이빙의 필요성이 제기되었다. 현재 아카이브의 표준으로는 OAIS(Open Archival Information System)이 있지만 주로 포괄적인 컨텐츠를 대상으로 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이미지 자료를 대상으로 한 디지털 아카이빙과 메타데이터를 설계하고자 한다. 이미지 자료의 효율적인 디지털 아카이빙 구축을 위해서 참조 모형을 통해 서지정보와 멀티미디어 자료에 대한 메타데이터 표준이 추가되어야 한다. 구체적인 방안으로 클래스 기반 다단계 메타데이터 모델 관리를 제안한다.

  • An expression of image in visual communication design traditionally has a dose relationship with the mechanical part of several expression media. Especially, an image conversion becomes easter by converging various forms of image such as a pictorial expression, a drawing up a plan, an optical expression and a reflected image into digital data in the image expression using digital mode. In addition, synthesis between various forms of visual ,images is activated by the integration of all expression media into digital mode and thus the extent of the image expression becomes diversified. Moreover, there is a tendency that a various dimensional expression such as 3D and 4D is generalized in the image expression of digital design. A partial or whole image conversion has often occurred during the generalization process of several image forms. Such conversion summarized into two factors, a formative side and a technical side. We described the existing pictorial expression as a formative side, an optical expression as a photography, a materialization of image conversion theory of computer graphic image conversion according to data form as a technical side and specific content according to dimension. We summarized objective and demonstrative resets through a simple simulation using a computer for the contents required a technical and qualitative measure and presented an application program of the particular results from the study to the visual communication design work by a case.

A Method for Determining the Coiling Ratio and Classifying Species of Fossil Planktonic Foraminifera Using Digital Image Analysis (디지털 이미지 분석을 이용한 부유성 유공충 화석의 권각 방향과 종 분류 결정법)

  • In this one species of planktonic foraminifers, Neogloboquadrina pachyderma, which has been collected from the sediments cores in the northeast Pacific ODP sites, was computerized through using digitalized images. The foraminiferal communities were analyzed, and the coiling direction of the N. pachyderma was determined by using computer progamming technology. In this way by appling algorithm-based method of reading, the tasks of sorting and analyzing the foraminiferal indiniduals and communities can be performad and high speed on a very large amount of specimens collected. It is found that the study had 90% accordance with the result of stereoscopic observation. This result suggested that digital image analysis could be successfully adopted in the field of micropaleontology.

An Analysis of K-POP Stars' Images in Chinese Social Medias (중국 소셜 미디어에 나타난 K-POP 스타들의 사진 이미지 분석)

  • The main purpose of this study was to investigate K-pop stars' images in photos presented by social networks in China. In this study photos of K-pop stars were collected from a community site of Baidu as one of the biggest portal sites and were five idol groups (EXO, IKON, T-ara, Wonder Girls, and Girls' Generation) which have beeb getting famous in China. For this musical styles and backgrounds of the K-pop idol stars were scrutinized in brief and explored in respect with its images. The results of the study were follows: First, the overall pictorial images of K-pop boys' groups were characterized in masculine and stylish images emphasizing the western appearance. In case of K-pop girl groups, sexy, gorgeous, feminine and youthful images were identified. In conclusion, K-pop idol stars is contributing to expand Korean pop arts into Chinese public culture as Chinese people produced and circulated the pictorial images of K-pop stars and facilitated consumption activities of K-pop contents.

  • 최근 전자기술의 발달로 인해 인쇄 회로 기판(Printed Circuit Board)이 정밀화되고 세분화됨에 따라 고도로 집약되어 육안에 의한 시각검사 방법이 어려워지고 있다. 이에 따라 컴퓨터 시각 기술을 이용한 자동시각검사가 점차 늘어가는 추세다. 이러한 PCB의 설계 또는 검사 시 참조할 이미지를 만드는 방법 중 하나로 Gerber Interface로 표현된 PCB용 CAD파일인 거버파일을 이용하여 디지털 이미지를 생성하는 법이 널리 이용되고 있다. 반면 이러한 파일 및 이미지는 상호간에 인과관계(causality)를 가지며, 이미지 유출시 그 피해가 크다. 따라서 생성된 이미지를 효과적으로 보호하고 관리해야할 필요가 있다. 본 논문에서 상기의 인과관계를 이용하여 이를 관리하고 보호하는 이미지 권한관리 기법을 제안한다.
