A Study on the Application and Development of Contents through Digitalizing Korean Patterns (한국문양의 디지털컨텐츠 개발과 활용에 관한 연구)

  • The world is preparing another unseen war, that is, the cultural war of digital economy which will dominate the new millenium. As the “contents”, which are composed of various ingredients of media, gain vitality, the developed nations are in preparation of the war with the “cultural industry” weapons. The digital economic experts say that the left out nations will become economic colony in the new millenium age. The most important characteristics of cultural industry is the unity of creativity and culture which is all the more improved on the basis of the culture created upon knowledge. This leads to competition between nations or regions, and to survive one has to develop the industrial structure through cognition of its own cultural value. Furthermore, it is not a short-term development and investment of cultural products but a study on the method to graft the cultural value to the industry itself. The multi-media period does not accept an independent medium, and the contents products are becoming the leading industry since il is proved that they last semi-permanently in the digital world. The victory lies in the quality and quantity of the contents as the high ability and variety of the technology of media advance in accordance to the market principles. Since the culture, science and economy are becoming one complex structure, all nations of the world are trying the evolve a unique design of their on culture on the basis of the global universality. In consequence, we should excavate a uniqueness from our cultural heritage and develop into a korean design which will be recognized in the world market. The value of our cultural property should not only be used as academic and research purposes but should be re-evaluated with modem view, recognized as the core element that decides the quality of life and developed into exclusive designs. The korean designs represent the mould concept of our people which evolves from the mould or shape alphabet of Korea To meet the requirements of the changing world and in preparation of the cultural competitive age, it is never too early to make a data on the korean designs through their analysis and evaluation.

Competitiveness of Cable TV in the Multiplatform Media Marketplace (멀티플랫폼 시대 케이블 TV의 경쟁력 강화방안)

  • This study investigated a current situation of cable TV in order to seek and suggest cable TV's competitive superiority in the era of multiplatform media marketplace. This study suggested cable TV's direction from two aspects, short-term and mid and long-term strategies. As a result, it recommended that cable TV industry need to establish content circulation representatives, and reinforce multiformat contents suitable for various multiplatform uses, digital cable promotion, production of SO's originated programs, HD VOD, bundling services and diverse programs. As a long-term strategy, this study also suggested cable TV industry need to cooperate with smart TV industry in order to widen openness of its platform, and to provide not only diverse contents but also applications by offering two-way, mobile, and on-demand contents and services. Finally, this study proposed cable TV is needed to move towards a comprehensive media portal, which is a contents aggregator with the aforementioned business strategies.

  • Today, photography is facing to the crisis of identity and dilemma of ontology from the digital imaging process in the new technology form. It is very important points to say rethinking of the traditional photographic medium, that has changed the way we view the world and ourselves is perhaps an understatement and that photography has transformed our essential understanding of reality. Now, no longer are photographic images regarded as the true automatic recording, innocent evidence and the mirror to the reality. Rather, photography constructs the world for our entertainment, helping to create the comforting illusions by which we live. The recognition that photographs are not constructions and reflections of reality, is the basis for the actual presence within the contemporary photographic world. It is shock. This thesis's aim is to look for the problems of photographic identity and ontological crisis that is controlling and regulating digital photographic imagery, allowing the reproduction of the electronic simulations era. Photography loses its special aesthetic status and becomes no more true information and, exclusively evidence by traditional film and paper that appeared both as a technological accuracy and as a medium-specific aesthetic. The result, photography is facing two crises, one is the photographic ontology(the introduction of computerized digital images) and the other is photographic epistemology(having to do broader changes in ethics, knowledge and culture). Taken together, these crises apparently threaten us with the death of photography, with the 'end' of photography and the culture it sustains. The thesis's meaning is to look into the dilemma of photography's ontology and epistemology, especially, automatical index and digital codes from its origin, meaning, and identity as the technological medium. Thus, in particular, thesis focuses on the analog imagery presence, from the nature in the material world, and the digital imagery presence from the cultural situations in our society. And also thesis's aim is to examine the main issues of the history of photography has been concentrated on the ontological arguments since the discovery of photography in 1839. Photography has never been only one static technology form. Rather, its nearly two centuries of technological development have been marked by numerous, competing of technological innovation and self revolution from the dual aspects. This thesis examines recent account of photography by the analysis of the medium's concept, meaning, identity between film base image and digital base image from the aspects of photographic ontology and epistemology. Thus, the structure of thesis is fairy straightforward to examine what appear to be two opposing view of photographic conditions and ontological situations. Thesis' view contrasts that figure out the value of photography according to its fundamental characteristic as a medium. Also, it seeks a possible solution to the dilemma of photographic ontology through the medium's origin from the early years of the nineteenth century to the raising questions about the different meaning(analog/digital) of photography, now. Finally, this thesis emphasizes and concludes that the photographic ontological crisis reflects to the paradoxical dynamic structure, that unsolved the origins of the medium, itself. Moreover, even photography is not single identity of the photographic ontology, and also can not be understood as having a static identity or singular status from the dynamic field of technologies, practices, and images.

A Review of Graphical Interface Design Methods through Collaborative Teamwork (공동협력 관계를 통한 GUI디자인 방법적 고찰)

  • In the "digitalized" world of new media, visual designer are increasingly enlarging their roles in desighing interaction products. However, the concepts and their methods of the interaction design have not been well established in the design community yet. The reason is attributed to the fact that designing interaction products requires two way communication between the products and final users. whereas traditional graphic design counts only on one way communication. This study emphasizes GUI design should aim at improving the usability of products which helps users quickly learn about the products and easily use them. The usability of GUI design significantly improved by securing logical rationality helps designers communicate and collaborate with program engineers and other product developers. To explain how designers can effectively communicate with program engineers and other product participants in the design process, a model of design collaboration is provided in this study. Based on the model, the study deals with the principles and methods of visual interaction, the formulation of specification system, testing design usability, and design evaluation. The study concludes that GUI designers must ensure logical rationality and the cognitive approach of visual language. Because it improves the usability of products. It also becomes an objective tool for communicating and collaborationg with engineers and the other participants in the design process.

  • The advent of the handheld camera has dramatically transformed film production and consumption in countless ways. French director and theorist, Alexandre Astruc focuses on the development of 16mm camera and foretell film will be used as a tool to realize the personal vision of the author like other art. As proof of his claim French New Wave and Cinéma vérité create the film with handheld camera on the real location to capture new reality. Their films are distinguished itself from other films made by conventional Hollywood studios. Similarly, John Cassavetes in the United States began to focus on the handheld camera. Since then the handheld camera has become one of the popular shooting methods. Especially, handheld camera are noted for their agile movement and mobility as a way to capture various realities. However, with the advances in technology, lighter cameras and higher resolution have changed in different ways. The technology is neutral, one shooting method does not serve for one philosophy or ism. At one time, handheld shooting is now used as not only a means to capture the real world but also a tool to mimic a realistic feeling.

Effect of Autumn Seeding Date on the Productivity and Feed Values of Hairy Vetch(Vicia villosa Roth.) Varieties (파종시기가 Hairy Vetch(Vicia villosa Roth) 품종의 생산성 및 사료가치에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was conducted to study the spring productivity and feeding value of hairy vetch varieties. We also measured DM yield and feeding value by analyze CP and CF that authors made possible to calculate TDN and RFV. The results can be summarized as follows; Dry matter yield were increased earlier autumn seeding date and later cut in spring. Differences of dry matter yield in earlier cut in spring was high in order of Ostsaat, Welta, Vv4712, Penn-02, Common and Minnie. Crude protein(CP) yield was increased when earlier autumn seeding date and later cut in spring. Total digestible nutrient(TDN) yield of hairy vetch varieties was decreased when later autumn seeding date, and was increased when later cut in spring. TDN yield was highest in Ostsaat and Welta varieties had highest dry matter yield. Acid detergent fiber(ADF) content was decreased when later autumn seeding date and was increased when later cut in spring. Neutral detergent fiber(NDF) content was decreased when later autumn seeding date. Average values for relative feed value(RFV) were 157% and 132% in both cut. It shows that a high feed value in all of hairy vetch varieties. Above all, the results presented that the optimal seeding date for cultivating hairy vetch in the central region of Korea is between the 10th to the 20th of September. Because Ostsaat and Welta had significantly high dry matter yield we expected Ostsaat and Welta have a higher wintering ability.
