Design of a Professional Development Program for Fashion Designers in Fashion Enterprise (패션기업의 디자이너 재교육 프로그램 설계에 관한 연구)

  • Fashion industry is faced with issues of raising the competitiveness of established designers recently. As well as the change of business system, the specialization of professionals in design team increases the needs of in-service training of fashion designers. But, the education programs of enterprise are generally focused on adaptability to the organization and harmony among men as an introduction level. Furthermore, there are few professional institutions that give an education to the working-level designers. Thus, this study aimed at development of specialized in-service training program that could educate established designers for more integrated thought to cope with rapid changes in the fashion field. Firstly, the theoretical study on the in-service training and changes of fashion environment had been studied through literature review. Then, the current state of in-service training of fashion enterprises and the courses for established designers in fashion institutions were analysed. Finally, a comprehensive framework of in-service training program for fashion designers has been established as a result of this study. The program was designed in accordance with the previous research which reached 4 different educational needs for in-service training: brand planning and management, understanding production, understanding practical fabrics & colors, computer program. The study went further to apply the program to each design group divided by career: new designer, junior designer, senior designer, design leader. This study also suggested evaluation process to confirm the effects.

  • Daejeon metropolitan city is rich with opportunity factors for the growth of the design industry in the 4th Industrial Revolution and aims at completing the '4th Industrial Revolution Special City'. As design is located at the center of convergence and the concept of design is closely related to the industrial structure, its importance is being emphasized in the 4th Industrial Revolution. Meanwhile, there was a limit to the development of the design industry in Daejeon metropolitan city due to the absence of the Regional Design Center(RDC), but Daejeon started constructing the Daejeon design center in June 2018 and aims to complete the construction by the end of 2019. This study analyzed and compared the 2018 Design Specialists Reeducation of KIDP and each RDC with the present conditions of industrial structure, design industry and reeducation of Daejeon to derive and suggest the plan of reeducation by the establishment of Daejeon Regional Design Center(RDC).

  • Focusing on the differences in perceptions of color education fields between game majors and game designers. As a result, game major college students were surveyed to have a low recognition rate for the color field, the other group were not. for resolve the gap in perception, it's suggested need to re-educate systematic color education of game major college students and color experience of game designers in terms of securing expertise. it's expected to be presenting the direction of fostering game designers with color sense that contributes for the competitiveness of the game industry.

  • This study studied the improvement of job-Related skills by grasping the status of color use of game designers. The use of color centered on designer was surveyed. As a result, the ranking of color use was in the order of digital color, color harmony, color perception, color mixing, color emotion, and color name. Finally, it presents the opinion that it is necessary to open a color curriculum centered on practitioners and to focus on the 1st to 4th in color fields.

  • Design education has been developed on the basis of higher education and continuing education for professional designers. This professional education has been regarded as a top priority in order to establish the discipline of design and status of designers in the society for the birth of design as a new discipline. Education of designers, however, should not be limited within the professional education led by higher education system. In order to educate designers having the competitiveness for the 21st century, it is necessary to expand the range of design education from higher education to general education by developing new programs. This paper is designed to investigate the importance and characteristics of 'Design-Based Education' by emphasizing design educational methods which are applied to the general education. As case studies, the current educational situations of England and United States of America are analyzed on the basis of their efforts and children's education programs. This study will provide the fundamental guideline for the development of K-12 design education in Korea.
