A Study on the Characteristics and the Types of Encirclement Space applied to the Women's Hospital in the City (도심 여성전문병원에 적용된 위요공간의 특징과 개념에 관한 연구)

  • Recently the number of women's hospitals of a small scale are increasing in seoul and the other cities although the surroundings of these sites are so inferior. Those hospitals need the space of comfort as like family home. This study suggests that the encirclement space is one of the design methods to make comfort to patients. The encirclement is the form of hugging a baby to a mother's arms. Analysing six woman hospitals, encirclement space is categorized about the six types of square, open square, right-angled, linear, dispersed, etc. The characteristics of "right-angled" is featured as the form of L, and "square" type is characterized as the relationship of functional circulation among doctors, nurses and patients. And all types are organized as the relationship between the encirclement space and the enclosed space about how the functional space and the comfort space are made up. The properties of encirclement space are appeared by the interactions about function, circulation, sight, form, access, recognition through transparent, three-dimensional experience, etc. Encirclement space is recommended as a vital factor to make comfort space for designing women's hospital in city.

  • There are many studies on Wave Field Synthesis(WFS) which provides better presence and spaciousness than conventional discrete multichannel audio reproduction methods. However, it has several problems such as the listener-enclosing loudspeaker array and pre-authorized object-based source signal, so it is not widely used except in large-scale listening rooms. This paper presents a method which utilizes the merit of WFS in small listening rooms such as a living room.

Extended Reality-based Simultaneous Multi Presence for Remote Cooperative Work

  • In this paper, we propose an extended reality-based simultaneous multi presence system in a process of remote cooperative work. The proposed system generates a ring-shaped invisible screen which surrounds a user, and it provides position and manipulation of remote workspace and personal workspace. With the proposed system, the user easily navigates the several workspace for the remote collaboration or he/she selects a specific space for immersion. The proposed system also provides manipulation of personal workspace for the user during the remote cooperative work. We conducted a user study to prove effectiveness of the proposed system. According to the results, the proposed system increased understanding spatial information and usage of time during the remote cooperative work.

  • 소음원 또는 방사음장을 가시화하기 위하여 소음원을 둘러싸는 한 면에서의 음압측정을 통해 임의의 3차원 공간상의 음향 물리량을 예측하는 음향 홀로그래피 방법이 사용되고 있으며 이때 반사파가 존재하지 않는 기본 가정을 만족해야 한다. 반사파가 존재하는 경우에는 반사파를 보정하거나 또는 반사파의 음장이 미치는 영향이 무시할 만큼 작다고 가정하여 음장 예측이 가능하게 된다. 최근 해양연구원에서는 음향 홀로그래피 방법을 이용하여 수중음장을 가시화하는 시스템을 개발하였으며 시스템 검증을 위해 무향수조 내 단순음원을 이용하여 음장예측을 수행하였다. 무향수조 표면에는 흡음처리가 되지 않아 표면 반사파가 존재하나 해석 결과 반사파의 영향이 작은 경우에는 반사파를 무시하고 음장해석의 수행이 가능함을 확인하였다.

  • 교통은 오늘날의 문명사회를 저울질 할 수 있는 바로메타로서 인류생활의 향상과 발전에 크게 이바지해 온 것은 틀림없는 사실이다. 그러나 교통은 사람과 도로와 자동차의 조화 속에서 이루어지는 인간-기계계(man-machine system)인 것으로서 이들 요소들은 정삼각형을 구성하는 것으로서 어느 쪽에도 불합리나 결함이 자리잡게 되면 무섭고도 끔찍한 교통사고를 일으키고 만다. 이와 같은 사실은 최근의 교통사고 사망자수에 대한 변화를 찾아보더라도 그 엄청난 피해를 그냥 보아 넘길 수는 없는 것이다. 교통이란 본래 공간적인 이동을 그 기능으로 하고 있다. 사람들의 생활과, 이와 같은 생활을 둘러싸는 모든 활동은 확대, 확산된 공간속에서 실시되고 있는 것인데 여기에서 사회를 형성하게 된다. 따라서 교통이 발달한다는 것은 곧 사회적 교류를 드높이면서 그의 향상과 발전을 도모하게 될 것인데 이 때의 문제점을 기존통계를 중심으로 분석하면서 그의 교통안전교육에 대한 시행방안을 고찰하고자 한다.

  • 혈관내부의 초음파는 혈관 벽(vessel wail) 전체를 관찰할 수 있는 단면적 영상(cross-sectional image)으로부터 혈관 벽의 서로 다른 층을 평가할 수 있다. IVUS(Intravascular Ultrasound)영상은 잡음에 매우 민감하고 해상도가 낮기 때문에 혈관 벽의 서로 다른 층을 구분된다. IVUS영상이 내강, 혈관 벽, 외막을 둘러싸는 영역으로 구성되어있다고 가정하면 내부와 외부의 두 경계선으로 구분할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 IVUS영상을 웨이블릿 변환하여 주파수 공간에서 관상동맥 벽의 두 경계선을 추출한다. 실험결과를 통하여 관상동맥 벽의 두 경계선이 잘 추출되는 것을 확인할 수 있다.

Acceleration of GPU-based Volume Rendering Using Vertex Splitting (정점분할을 이용한 GPU 기반 볼륨 렌더링의 가속 기법)

  • Visualizing a volume dataset with ray-casting which of visualization methods provides high quality image. However it spends too much time for rendering because the size of volume data are huge. Recently, various researches have been proposed to accelerate GPU-based volume rendering to solve these problems. In this paper, we propose an efficient GPU-based empty space skipping to accelerate volume ray-casting using octree traversal. This method creates min-max octree and searches empty space using vertex splitting. It minimizes the bounding polyhedron by eliminating empty space found in the octree traveral step. The rendering results of our method are identical to those of previous GPU-based volume ray-casting, with the advantage of faster run-time because of using minimized bounding polyhedron.

A CASE REPORT OF A DENTIGEROUS CYST TREATED BY MARSUPIALIZATION (조대술을 이용한 함치성 낭종의 치험례)

  • The dentigerous cyst originates through alteration of stellate reticulum after amelogenesis has completed, with accumulation of fluid between the layers of the reduced enamel epithelium or between this epithelium and the tooth crown. Its incidence is relatively high on 10s or 20s of age and it is always related to the unerupted crown. Generally, it has no symptom, however, if the cyst is large or accompanied with pus formation, swelling and pain may occur. In radiographic findings, it shows impacted crown surrounded by well defined unilocular radiolucent lesion and occasionally displacement of adjacent teeth or root resorption. The goal of treatment is complete elimination of abnormal tissue preserving the tooth involved in the cyst. Enucleation and marsupialization are commonly used for the treatment. Marsupialization is the procedure which removes the partial portion of the cystic wall and connects with the oral mucosa. As the pressure in the cyst decreases, bone regeneration takes place in the defect area and cystic wall converts into normal mucosa. This procedure, however, is the most conservative procedure which allows the protection of adjacent important structures. If the eruption space is sufficient, then inducing the eruption of the permanent tooth in the cyst is also possible. In following cases, dentigerous cyst was diaganosed after clinical and radiographic examination. Marsupialazation was done to remove the cyst and induce the tooth, which was in the cyst, to erupt into the oral cavity.

Studies on Molecular Plasticity of Bergmann Glia following Purkinje Cell Degeneration (조롱박신경세포의 변성에 따른 버그만아교세포의 면역조직학적 연구)

  • Studies on molecular plasticity of Bermann glia (BG) after harmaline-induced Purkinje cell (PC) degeneration in the rat cerebellum. The intimate structural relationship between BG and PC, evidenced by the sheathing of the PC dendrites by veil-like process from the BG has been suggestive of the close functional relationship between these two cell types. However, little is known about metabolic couplings between these cells. This study designed to investigate molecular plasticity of BG in the rat cerebellum in which PCs were chemically ablated by harmaline treatment. Immunohistochemical examination reveals that harmaline induced PC degeneration causes a marked glial reaction in the cerebellum with activated BG and microglia aligned in parasagittal stripes within the vermis. In these strips, activated BG were associated with upregulaion of metallotheionein, while GLAST and was down regulated, as compared with nearby intact area where both BG are in contact with PCs. The data from this study demonstrate that BG can change their phenotypic expression when BG loose their contact with PCs. It is conceivable that activated BG may upregulate structural proteins, metallothionein expression to use for their proliferation and hypertrophy; metallothionein expression to cope with oxidative stress induced by PC degeneration and microglial activation. On the contrary, BG may down regulated expression of GLAST because sustained loss of contact with PCs would eliminate the necessity for the cellular machinery involved glutamate metabolism. In conclusion, BG might respond man to death of PCs by undergoing a change in metabolic state. It seems possible that signaling molecules released from PCs regulates the phenotype expression of BG. Also ultrastructures in the organelles of normal PC and BG are distinguished by mitochondrial appearance, and distributed vesicles at the synaptic area in the cytoplasm.

  • The eruption of permanent teeth represents the movement in the alveolar bone before appearance in oral cavity, to the occlusal plane after appearance in oral cavity, and additive movement after reaching th the occlusal plane. Tooth eruption is mostly controlled by genetic signals. The eruption stage is divided to preeruptive alveolar stage, alveolar bone stage, mucosal stage according to the process of growth and development. If the disturbance is occured in any stage of eruption, tooth does not erupt. The cause of eruption disturbance are ectopic position of the tooth germ, obstruction of the eruption path and defects in the follicle or PDL. In the treatment of eruption disturbance, surgical procedures are commonly used. There are three kind of surgical procedure ; surgical exposure, surgical repositioning, surgical exposure and traction Surgical exposure is basic procedure. This involves removal of mucosa, bone, lesion that are surrounding the teeth, dental sac when necessary to maintain a patent channel between the crown and the normal eruptive path into the oral cavity. To ensure this patency, many techniques including cementation of a celluloid crown, packing with gutta-percha or zinc oxide-eugenol, or a surgical pack, are used. When surgical exposure is conducted, operators should not expose any part of cervical root cement and not injure periodontium or root of adjunct tooth. After surgical exposure, tooth should be surrounded by keratinized gingiva. There is direct relationship between the extent of development of pathophysiologic aberrations and the intensity of the manipulative injury inflicted on the tooth by surgical treatment, so operator should consider this thing. In these cases, surgical exposure is conducted on Maxillary 1st milars that have a eruption disturbance and improve the eruption disturbance effectively.
