An Efficient Concurrency Control Algorithm for Multi-dimensional Index Structures (다차원 색인구조를 위한 효율적인 동시성 제어기법)

  • In this paper. we propose an enhanced concurrency control algorithm that minimizes the query delay efficiently. The factors that delay search operations and deteriorate the concurrency of index structures are node splits and MBR updates in multi dimensional index structures. In our algorithm, to reduce the query delay by split operations, we optimize exclusive latching time on a split node. It holds exclusive latches not during whole split time but only during physical node split time that occupies small part of whole split time. Also to avoid the query delay by MBR updates we introduce partial lock coupling(PLC) technique. The PLC technique increases concurrency by using lock coupling only in case of MBR shrinking operations that are less frequent than MBR expansion operations. For performance evaluation, we implement the proposed algorithm and one of the existing link technique-based algorithms on MIDAS-III that is a storage system of a BADA-III DBMS. We show through various experiments that our proposed algorithm outperforms the existing algorithm In terms of throughput and response time.

Concurrent Equalizer with Squared Error Weight-Based Tap Coefficients Update (오차 제곱 가중치기반 랩 계수 갱신을 적용한 동시 등화기)

  • For blind equalization of communication channels, concurrent equalization is useful to improve convergence characteristics. However, the concurrent equalization will result in limited performance enhancement by continuing concurrent adaptation with two algorithms after the equalizer converges to steady-state. In this paper, to improve the convergence characteristics and steady-state performance of the concurrent equalization, proposed is a new concurrent equalization technique with variable step-size parameter and weight-based tap coefficients update. The proposed concurrent vsCMA+DD equalization calculates weight factors using error signals of the variable step-size CMA (vsCMA) and DD (decision-directed) algorithm, and then updates the two equalizers based on the weights respectively. The proposed method, first, improves the error performance of the CMA by the vsCMA, and enhances the steady-state performance as well as the convergence speed further by the weight-based tap coefficients update. The performance improvement by the proposed scheme is verified through simulations.

  • Currently, software testing is becoming increasingly important in the industrial field and a large body of research supports the improvement of efficient software testing. Model-based testing is generally used to formalize user requirement data for test design. Complex system that includes loop and concurrency has a high probability of path explosion problem. Specially, as threads are added to concurrency, test scenarios have also increased exponentially. However, it is difficult to solve this problem using existing techniques. In this paper, we propose novel path-search technique that focuses on behavioral features of concurrency path in order to avoid path explosion problem. A system that contains concurrent paths is represented by activity diagram in case study section. Efficiency of our study is shown through comparison with several generated test scenarios of other studies. The result indicate that our approach is efficient for finding faults in loop and concurrency with fewer test scenario.

Performance Improvement of Double Talk Detection before Convergence of the Echo Canceller by Using Linear Predictive Coding Filter Gain of the Primary Input Signal (주입력신호의 LPC 필터 이득을 이용한 반향제거기의 수렴전 동시통화검출 성능 개선)

  • This paper proposes a performance improvement method of the conventional double talk detection method which can operate before convergence of the echo canceller. The proposed method estimates the coefficients of the linear predictive coding(LPC) filter by using the primary input signal. The time-varying threshold for double talk detection is determined based on the LPC filter gain of the primary input signal level. The proposed method can reduce not only false detection rate which means wrong detection of single talk as double talk but also double talk detection delay. Computer simulation was performed using a long-term real speech signals. It is shown that the proposed method improves the conventional method in terms of lowering the false detection rate and shortening the detection delay.

  • 곤충병원성 선충의 이용 효율을 높이기 위하여 곤충병원성 선충 상호간 또는 선충과 곤충병원성 곰팡이와의 상호관계를 알아보았다. Steinernema glaseri는 기주의 무게에 따라 성충수에서는 차이가 없었으나 침입태 유충수에서는 차이가 있었다. 선충의 접종 농도에 따른 침입 발육된 성충수는 기주당 20마리 이하의 접종에서는 차이를 보였으나 40마리 이상 1,000마리 접종구에서는 차이가 없었고, 증식된 유충수도 기주당 1,000마리 접종구에서 현저히 적은 것을 제외하고는 차이가 없었다. 동일 기주에서의 선충 상호간 관계에서는 steinernematid 선충에 의한 기주 치사율이 heterorhabditid 선충에 의한 것보다 높았다. 즉, 서로 다른 종의 곤충병원성 선충을 동일 기주에 접종하였을 때, S. carpocapsae 포천에 의한 기주 치사율은 $76.2\pm$4.8%였고 Heterorhabditis bacteriophora 함양에 의한 치사율은 $23.8\pm$4.8%였다. 또한 S. carpocapsae 포천에 의한 기주치사율이 각각 $90.5\pm$4.8%와 $80.9\pm$4.8%, H. bacteriophora NC 1에 의한 것은 9.5$\pm$4.8%였다. S. glaseri NC와 H. bacteriophora 함양 및 H. bacteriophora NC 1을 동시 접종하였을 때는 S. glaseri NC에 의한 것이 각각 $61.9\pm$9.65%와 $80.9\pm$4.8%, H. bacteriophora 함양에 의한 것이 $38.1\pm$9.5%, H. bacteriophora NC 1에 의한 것이 $19.1\pm$4.8%였다. 그러나 두 선충의 동시 감염은 관찰되지 않았다. 그리고 S. carpocapsae All과 곤충병원성 곰팡이인 Beauveria brongniartii를 동시 또는 곰팡이를 먼저 처리했을 때는 곰팡이 12시간 전 처리부터 선충과 곰팡이의 동시 감염이 관찰되었고, H. bacteriophora NC 1는 곰팡이 6시간 전 처리부터 동시 감염이 관찰되었다. 선충에 의한 감염과, 곰팡이에 의한 감염, 선충과 곰팡이 동시 감염은 곰팡이 48시간 전 처리부터 관찰되었다. 그러나 유충 증식수는 선충 단독 감염보다 동시 감염충에서 현저히 떨어졌다.

  • The period of the previous multi-core could be helped to improve program performance, based on the development of the hardware. However, one of the core performance enhancements for this encounter limitations and become the common way of multi-core with multiple cores. Modern programming concurrency that improves the conventional method for using threads of the kernel level in order to use the multi-core come to the fore. Using modern lightweight thread concurrency programming is to optimize the benefits of multi-core. Also sharing the absence of available data that can change is a major consideration when writing concurrent code. This paper describes the key considerations when creating a discussion concurrent code, and these issues are being supported in any way in the language of one 'go' of technologies that support the modern concurrency, and even how to write better code concurrency.

Simultaneous Heating and Cooling Multi-Air Conditioning System for Agricultural Products Management (농수산물 관리를 위한 냉난방 동시형 멀티 에어컨 시스템)

  • In this paper, to establish a high-efficiency air-conditioning and heating system, we developed a simultaneous air-conditioning and heating system that can do both air-conditioning and heating at the same time. It was applied to hybrid plant plants to enable automation of complex farms. For this purpose, the heat exchanger, which functions as a condenser during heating, was required to function as an evaporator during cooling so that air conditioning and heating could be implemented simultaneously. For experiments, the simultaneous air conditioning system for heating and cooling was produced and applied to the plant factories in the farms so that plants could be grown, stored, and dried. As a result, a single system was able to control the temperature environment of agricultural products with an energy-saving system that simultaneously resolves heating and cooling. Therefore, efficient crop management was possible by implementing an air conditioning system that did not require installing air conditioners and boilers at the same time.

  • Simultaneous translation is online decoding to translates with only subsentence. The goal of simultaneous translation research is to improve translation performance against delay. For this reason, most studies find trade-off performance between delays. We studied the experiments of the fixed policy-based simultaneous translation in Korean. Our experiments suggest that Korean tokenization causes many fragments, resulting in delay compared to other languages. We suggest follow-up studies such as n-gram tokenization to solve the problems.

  • Graphical Processing Units(GPUs) achieve high performance undertaking from relatively uniformed computation in parallel. The technology related to General Purpose GPU(GPGPU) has been enhanced, which provides concurrent kernel execution of multi and diverse applications at the same time, but it is still limited to support resource sharing or planning. NVIDIA recently introduces Multi-Process Service(MPS), which allows kernels from different applications can be execute concurrently. However, the strength of MPS comes along with the characteristics of applications and the order of their execution. This paper shows the performance analysis of diverse scientific applications in real world. Based on the analysis, we prove that it is important to the identify characteristics of co-run applications, and to schedule multiple applications via profiling to maximize MPS functionality.

Research Trends Analysis on the Mediterranean Area Studies using Co-appearance Keywords (동시 출현 키워드를 활용한 지중해지역 연구 동향 분석)

  • In general, Area studies have very flexible field of research, so it is very difficult to proceed all field of research at the same time. Due to this, researches on Area studies have been changed the field of research and research trends according to age. So it is important to identify research trends for performing Area studies. Also, interests for understanding the research trend of Area studies are increasing constantly. In this paper, we analyze research trends of Mediterranean Area studies in Korea by using co-appearance keywords. To do this, we first analyze article types and extract co-appearance keywords on articles of 『Journal of Mediterranean Area Studies』, which is the representative journal of Mediterranean region in Korea. In details, trends analysis of Mediterranean Area studies would be performed by using cp-keywords of article and visualizing network graph forms.
